theteapot··on TCP Use-After-Free: CVE-2026-98432 / CVSS 9.8
What is a "multipath TCP listener"?
theteapot··on Backdoor in Claude Code for VS Code extension on the Cursor Marketplace
I think he's saying (erroneously) Anthropic owns Cursor. Reading this claude.com page [1] hawking Cursor you could be forgiven for forming that impression.

theteapot··on All you need is Wide Events, not "Metrics, Logs and Traces"
A metric is a measure that can be aggregated over time. You can derive a metric from logs (count) but that doesn't make them the same thing. Spans have start and end times and parent pointer. Logs are arbitrary data, but can be correlated, can have application/org defined structure that's beyond the scope of the observability stack.

You could draw a class diagram with "Wide" - or whatever - as the base class, metric, span, log subclasses. Metric class requires an additional metric field, span requires start, end, parent, log is just open.

"They"? MITRE runs cve.org under contract by CISA.
theteapot··on Tell HN: I unknowingly broke the PHP RCE embargo. I am sorry
Not sure that contradicts the claim. Publishing the CVE is what makes it public.
theteapot··on Tell HN: I unknowingly broke the PHP RCE embargo. I am sorry.
Don't feel too bad. Just knowing a "10.0" RCE CVE is inbound w/o extra details doesn't get you very far. The actions of calif.io and Chainguard after your post was what caused the damage.
theteapot··on Tell HN: I unknowingly broke the PHP RCE embargo. I am sorry
Doesn't the embargo end when the CVE is published? I thought that's the whole point in CVE allocate != CVE publish.

> This shouldn't affect key-based authentication, though

Depends what you mean by key and what you mean by affect. They can still MITM you if your using pubilc key authentication and you accept the servers host key without verifying it.

Zero. Maybe a dozen, non road legal ofc. And I'm not particularly sad about it. Sorry to disappoint.

What sad reaction to a real life flying car.

theteapot··on Anthropic conjures threat that doesn't exist yet to stoke fears of AI apocalypse
Would the Internet going away be world ending? Interesting to think about. I think it would be pretty damn devastating on the scale of Nuclear war but slightly more of a slow burner. At least with Nuclear war survivors can turn the Internet back on again afterwards.

theteapot··on Push ifs up and fors down: The idiom, its algebra, and its limits
> Who actually considers a loop a branch?

A loop contains a branch - keep looping or break. At least according to structured programming -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Structured_program_theorem.

theteapot··on Push ifs up and fors down: The idiom, its algebra, and its limits
Is that true? The loop is a branch.
