throw567643u8··on Three new discoveries in mathematics, computer science, and physics
They don't necessarily deserve credit, it is just the bare minimum courteous behaviour in academia to reach out to other researchers in the same area before publishing a result.

I'm also unaware of the quality of the consultation with the relevant mathematicians, colour me skeptical there.

throw567643u8··on Tsrs: A Port of TypeScript to Rust
I'd love to hear from a Rust programmer on the human readability of the Rust code produced in this port.
throw567643u8··on Tsrs: A Port of TypeScript to Rust
The reason Anders gave at the time was Rust effectively outlaws cyclic data structures, which was not fitting of their implementation.
throw567643u8··on AWS Lambda Web Functions
lambda + DB is an antipattern.
throw567643u8··on Claude Status – Elevated errors for multiple models
Something is on fire. Literally or figuratively.
throw567643u8··on A misalignment of AI in mathematics
>Dr. Tao

Professor Tao.

throw567643u8··on Formalizing Fermat's Last Theorem
No I don't have any reason to believe you are mistaken other than general suspicion.
throw567643u8··on Formalizing Fermat's Last Theorem
So would you also say no chance of a stack overflow or any type of surreptitious storage overflow anywhere in the runtime do you think?
throw567643u8··on Formalizing Fermat's Last Theorem
Has Lean proved the Four Colour Theorem? I thought only Rocq had.
throw567643u8··on Formalizing Fermat's Last Theorem
AI is hopeless at using existing code, it likes to append only.
throw567643u8··on Formalizing Fermat's Last Theorem
With the size of the proof object, a potential buffer overflow comes to mind.
throw567643u8··on Formalizing Fermat's Last Theorem
I'd feel so much more excited if this was done in Metamath. Tiny checker kernel, no complicated dependent types, way less to go wrong.
throw567643u8··on Formalizing Fermat's Last Theorem
13 million lines of code, a lot of which is new to Mathlib. So it hasn't built on what is already there but synthesised a bunch of new stuff.

LLM generated Lean code in the past has been known to exploit bugs in the Lean kernel, it would be foolish to rule this out happening again.

throw567643u8··on Just Bury Your Trash
US centric viewpoints. The UK is running out of space for landfills. Burning it is best for all.
throw567643u8··on VulnHunter: Capital One's agentic AI code security tool
Repo will be inactive and obsolete within 12 months.
throw567643u8··on Internal Combustion Engine (2021)
Probably better for the environment too.
throw567643u8··on Neutron scattering explains why gluten-free pasta falls apart (2025)
> Greg Smith from ISIS as well as collaborators

Didn't know ISIS gave a hoot about gluten free.

throw567643u8··on I have officially retired from Emacs
I know, I tried modal emacs for a while there.
throw567643u8··on I have officially retired from Emacs
Thanks, I left due to rsi from the chords.
throw567643u8··on I have officially retired from Emacs
It doesn't have the (any?) diffing capabilities of magit, so it's not usable for me yet.
throw567643u8··on I have officially retired from Emacs
I've never found a decent magit replacement since leaving emacs over to vim. There is a Vim attempt at a magit clone, but it is buggy as hell.
throw567643u8··on I have officially retired from Emacs
lazygit is too slow for me.
throw567643u8··on Category Theory Illustrated – Orders
The author's writing style and overuse of parentheses is excruciating. True parenthetic material is rare, good technical writers use them sparely.
throw567643u8··on Category Theory Illustrated – Orders
Just Yoneda Lemma. In fact it feels like the theory just restates Yoneda Lemma over and over in different ways.
throw567643u8··on Neovim 0.12.0
With its own package manager now, and LSP library, you really don't need a lot of config tweaking for a minimal vim setup these days.
throw567643u8··on Microservices and the First Law of Distributed Objects (2014)
Putting http in between all your components creates a madness machine. Why the cult following around Martin Fowler?
throw567643u8··on Wayland set the Linux Desktop back by 10 years?
Does anyone have links on how to set up multi monitor on Sway?
throw567643u8··on Duranium: A More Reliable PostmarketOS
Is this a fork, or a change in direction?
throw567643u8··on Ireland shuts last coal plant, becomes 15th coal-free country in Europe (2025)
That's because we let all the industries go offshore, for the promises of Neoliberalism. That should never have happened either.
throw567643u8··on Ireland shuts last coal plant, becomes 15th coal-free country in Europe (2025)
Taiwan and perhaps other Asian countries that successfully make stuff don't expose their industries to this, the government sets a fixed energy price for them rather than leaving them at the whim of speculators.
