throwfaraway135··on Kentucky man becomes the first humanist granted religious exemption from AI
> This invention, O king, will make the Egyptians wiser and will improve their memories; for it is an elixir of memory and wisdom that I have discovered.

Unsurprisingly history repeats itself, there will always be people who reject the unknown for the comforts of the past.

throwfaraway135··on Microsoft offers mass buyouts for roughly a quarter of its workforce
Would be interesting to know how much of it is result of AI and how much because the government is looking into their H1B practices, aka how much of the people who got this offer are under H1B.
throwfaraway135··on Your Phone Is About to Stop Being Yours: 70 Days Until Lockdown
Having an "open source" mobile os that is still for all purposes ruled by google was a evil genius level of move.

We need a truly open-source os, everything else is going to be a patch over a bullet hole.

throwfaraway135··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
Centralized motivated groups have more political power than their "percentage" would suggest, that's why we have kosher/gluten/halal labels everywhere.
throwfaraway135··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
why would you have such a phase? why turn off nuclear before you have your renewables in place?
throwfaraway135··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
History shows that very smart people and even groups of very smart people can do remarkably stupid things, pointing out their obvious errors is not a statement of intellectual superiority.
throwfaraway135··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
The climate change advocates have lost all their credibility by lobbying against nuclear. Because of their religious fanaticism Germany closed their nuclear plants and is compensating for it by burning coal. If this wasn't so tragic it would be hell of a comedy.
throwfaraway135··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
considering only ~15% of the population are immigrants this isn't looking good for them, there has also been documented a constant bias from the government to undercount immigrant related crimes.

My experience is sure subjective, and maybe it just so happened that I associate with "bigots" exclusively, but rape statistics are open in a lot of places, pretending they are not true or trying to straw man them is cruel to the victims[1][2].

That assumes the constitution isn't tyrannical or hasn't been conceived at a time where everything was different. It's like telling a slave you should follow the law because it's the law.
throwfaraway135··on Weball: Play Katamari on Websites

throwfaraway135··on There is no official XScreenSaver GitHub repository
pros of having a Github repo:

* people can find your project easily

* stars are a pretty good indicator of authenticity

* you can browse, search code right away

* a place for people to contact you

cons:

* some maintenance

* people have a place to contact you

throwfaraway135··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
If a constitution had a pro slavery clause and a party is trying to change that we would consider them heroes, so why is it such a bad thing to change the system if it is failing to provide for the people?
throwfaraway135··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
Let me tell you a secret, most people even more so none Europeans use derogatory terms of that level daily in their private conversations. Considering the rape rates in the EU you can't begrudge some Germans having low opinion of Muslims.
throwfaraway135··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
The EU is a little bit more tame than the US, but not by much, also those are private emails, not public statements. My point is using such language is (unfortunately) not something "scandalous".
throwfaraway135··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
this is bullshit, lets look at this "email leak": "https://www.hexane.cc/detail/?uid=!%26!AAAAAAAAAAAYAAAAAAAAA..."

the summary is: "AfD member Matthias Funk writes and forwards racist dehumanizing incitement: Neger, Muselmanen, Hinterwäldler, dreckige Monster Merkel, Pest, calls patriots to rise against Verbrecher."

I'm not sure about the actual email, but am certain that there are a lot of "left coded" agents that would find any discussion based on statistically correct data of immigrants "dehumanizing". Also considering the WWE style of modern politics calling one of the leaders of your opposition "dreckige Monster Merkel" is not something strange.

throwfaraway135··on Rabbits were a medieval royal luxury in England until the Black Death
Rabbit is very commonplace where I live, but I haven't tried it, it just looks to much like a rodent.
throwfaraway135··on DeepSeek-v4.1-Flash-1017
Another big win for opensource AI.

BTW who would have thought China would be the champion of freedom and opensource in the AI arena, while US is fighting for corporate/government control.

throwfaraway135··on Tesla Roadster
From a visual perspective it's ok, but put this two cars side by side, which one does feel more "Copy Nothing", at lest for me that answer is obvious.
throwfaraway135··on Tesla Roadster
Compare this to the Jaguar type 01, both made as a statement. Tesla shows real guts to do something new, instead of just talking like Jaguar.

That said can't wait for a millionaire to pressure cook some grandma at a junction /s.

throwfaraway135··on Tiny Little Office
yes but love makes sense in the context that this is their passion, but respect? what does it stand for? when they vibe coded this they spoke with respect to the agent?
throwfaraway135··on Tiny Little Office
> Made with respect in New York City

what does this even mean?

throwfaraway135··on Xi's 'death watch' will become a global spectacle
if you limit your arguments to include only people you dislike (or like), that says more about you than you realize.
throwfaraway135··on Xi's 'death watch' will become a global spectacle
She is at the helm of EU for 7 years, and afaik can be there indefinitely. This sounds very rulery to me.
throwfaraway135··on Xi's 'death watch' will become a global spectacle
Trump is 80, Putin 74 and von der Leyen 68. You could argue that some of them won't rule after 10+ years, but considering their successors are also going to be old folk that's not reassuring.

Considering almost everyone else is sent to pension/old people home at that age it's funny we let them decide the destiny of humanity.

throwfaraway135··on Man charged with planting 'sophisticated' recording device in OpenAI office
Corporate espionage must be a top ten career choice right now.
throwfaraway135··on Nobel Peace Prize for 2026 to Navanethem Pillay
I get the sentiment, but if you hijack peoples attention by pretending "look we are civilized, we have humanitarian organizations" instead showing the ugly reality, this in my book is worse.
throwfaraway135··on Nobel Peace Prize for 2026 to Navanethem Pillay
I would describe it more of a massacre/war crimes, you can't compare it to something like the East Timur genocide, that said it is going on for a long time.
throwfaraway135··on Anne Carson wins Nobel Prize in literature 2026
I wouldn't call it "distressing", but we are entitled to like some genres and dislike others. Not everything should be for everyone. And generally some genres are over promoted by the big labels and imo have worse quality on average.
throwfaraway135··on The people holding up the internet
what do you mean by "making on your own"? The first example(time zone db) is portrayed as "holding up" 4B android/iPhone devices, and Google/Apple for sure have the capacity to create something "on their own".
