throwitaway12··on Ask HN: Is it too dangerous to work at FAANG, or make an advancement in science?
It is dangerous if you give the technology to only the oppressors. If you release it to the world open source, you will better the free world and scientific community.
throwitaway12··on Justice Department withdraws FBI subpoena for USA Today records ID'ing readers
This is a disgusting over reach of power as usual by the American TLA's.

Please remember to always use a VPN, Tor, or other similar technologies when using the internet to shield your self from basic infringements of your privacy like this.

throwitaway12··on YouTube-dl can no longer download age-restricted videos
I was going to post something very similar, as I would use it specifically to watch videos that want me to give up information and sign in. I don't find that reasonable, thus I adjust accordingly my taking these countermeasures.

You are being downvoted to suppress your well thought out information. It would be nice if HN had a public ledger of who up or down voted a post. You would click on the post and could see which usernames voted and which way. It would bring much needed transparency to combat these information suppression abuses.

throwitaway12··on ProtonMail includes Google Recaptcha for login
It's the same evasive maneuvers that are used on Reddit.

I would kindly suggest you stop wasting your time engaging them in their corp. troll techniques.

If you have additional questions hopefully other members can answer them here.

throwitaway12··on Federal Gov. left ‘completely blind’ on cyberattacks looks to force reporting
They were compromised. Look up what a certain agency does to foreign nations.

One of the funniest things I heard in awhile is when Kreb's said the election was the 'most secure history'

throwitaway12··on Ransomware gang threatens release of Washington D.C. police records
Well that's if they are smart and there has to be a strong market for Monero. BTC is king in that aspect.
throwitaway12··on FragAttacks: new security vulnerabilities that affect wi-fi devices
I would really like to know, if someone could, the definitive answer to if using a VPN would prevent the malicious packet?

Do we even know at this point?

throwitaway12··on Chicago Police Started Secret Drone Program Using Untraceable Cash: Report
If the police are using untraceable cash, that should tip anyone off that what they are doing certainly isn't something good, even criminal.

Law enforcement always needs to be visible and held accountable to the public, never any 'exceptions'.

throwitaway12··on Instagram, Twitter blame glitches for deleting Palestinian posts
Ever since Twitter was seen to act in favour of one side politically than the other, I highly doubt it was just a 'glitch'.
throwitaway12··on Thousands of Tor exit nodes attacked cryptocurrency users over the past year
You are completely correct about the nodes being run for all sorts of nefarious reasons. Although, there are a small number of nodes rub by enthusiastic individuals but it's rare.

Reddit has tons of actors spreading disinfo especially about VPN's never trust the info from there without serious vetting.

throwitaway12··on Ask HN: Why are all the submissions about Bill/Melinda Gates being killed?
This is very relevant. Many of us work in tech, are married, and know of this couple., just for starters.

It's so very sad every time there is controversial topics, out come the bot armies and flag/down vote them into oblivion. How can HN have such strong. encroaching censorship?

There doesn't even seem to be many people disagreeing that this is very much on topic.

throwitaway12··on I refused to become an FBI informant, the government put me on the no fly list
We need such an accountable agency more badly than any of the other govt projects being funded right now.
throwitaway12··on I refused to become an FBI informant, the government put me on the no fly list
This may or may not have happened to myself, and with a different agency.

It's more common than one may think. The only sensible thing you can do is tell them to fuck off.

throwitaway12··on It looks like Signal isn't as open source as you thought it was anymore
I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

Only children trust Signal. A "private" messenger that only works by attaching to your phone number. Another nail in the coffin.

Edit: Look at that, negative points on my post that fast. We sure do have TLA's in here screening every single comment, while ensuring that this thread stays out of the front page.

Guys, give it up already. No one with a bit of intelligence falls for your "app-traps"

throwitaway12··on It looks like Signal isn't as open source as you thought it was anymore
This is for sure not a duplicate and should be restored to it's rightful spot.

Edit: Also, you cannot post on the other link for some reason?

throwitaway12··on Female Founder Secrets: Men Clamming Up
Thanks, would have never known something so bizarre.
throwitaway12··on Female Founder Secrets: Men Clamming Up
I am so thankful to work in an environment where everyone is just... normal.

We don't have to walk on egg shells when speaking. Men and women can still interact like it was before I started reading about such insanity.

throwitaway12··on Surveillance Company Claims It Can Track Nearly Any Car in Real-Time
It sounds like you have grown much and now are one the good guys. Job well done.

Did he tell you anything juicy?

throwitaway12··on EBPFSnitch: An eBPF based Linux Application Firewall
Thanks for this, I was using something similar called Opensnitch, which is unfortunately buggy and not as capable as Little Snitch.
throwitaway12··on PSA: macOS updates often modify your System Preferences to violate your Privacy
This is not the first time, as Catalina was one of their last to push less crap like this.
throwitaway12··on Israel’s lucrative and secretive cybersurveillance industry
Terrorist israeli's is who.
