tick_tock_tick··on US Reps Lead Democratic Resolution Opposing A.I. Bubble Bailout for Big Tech
> If they haven't saved any money, and can't bail themselves out, they deserve bankruptcy.

But Congress wrote laws specifically to make it a horrible idea for companies to do this. At some point isn't the Congress responsible for creating an environment that not only enables but actively encourages this?

tick_tock_tick··on R/opensource bans AI-made and AI-focused projects and non-English speakers
Why not just fix the space itself? Internet janitors who don't know their place our curse upon any hope of a reasonably functioning community.

And I say that with no disrespect to real janitors calling perpetually online Reddit users "moderators" is just enabling their LARPing.

tick_tock_tick··on Cloudflare deploys protections against php2shell vulnerability
That sounds like some grand statement with answers. The inherent asymmetry of the attacker defender model means there will always be successful attackers.
tick_tock_tick··on Ofcom concedes defeat in 4chan case
He lived in the USA's hemisphere. The USA has always exercises it's control of Europe less directly.

So you can't just go to a local book store and buy a copy or order it on Amazon? Oh wait you can? Crazy damn I really thought a banned book would mean I couldn't buy it at literally any book store.
tick_tock_tick··on Matthew Prince on why Cloudflare offers a free version and always will (2016)
They are using Apple private relay; they are already trusting Cloudflare.

This is one of those funny times people don't realize "For You" is personalized. It's like when Google rolled out personalized search by default and people started asking "why do all my search results have porn in them" and it's like uhh dude because you look at porn all the time.

Turns out you just love Trump.

tick_tock_tick··on Danish Supreme Court Finds That AI CSAM Is CSAM
> Do you see how easy it is to make a bad argument?

Nope, I just see someone making bullshit excuses.

tick_tock_tick··on Danish Supreme Court Finds That AI CSAM Is CSAM
Shit like this is why I can't take any of the "freedom indexes" seriously. Europe is constantly ranked highly but then you get shit like oh you're fake picture looks a little too real jail.
tick_tock_tick··on 'Jonathan' is the oldest land animal on Earth
Isn't the USA older then pretty much every country in Europe? Maybe the UK could be considered older depending on how you count it and San Marino is there but all the other major ones like Germany, Italy, France, Spain, etc aren't even 100.
tick_tock_tick··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
That's not even vaguely true a low dose is effective enough at reducing hungry enough to get slow and steady weight loss and require zero planning or effort on the users part.

The only time you need a dietician is if you want a high enough dose you barely want to eat at all.

tick_tock_tick··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
He just picked the strongest predictive characteristic we have data on. You're the one trying to turn the statement into something it isn't.

> I think a richer analysis with wealth, parental education, english as a first language cofounders might be helpful.

We have all that data it's just significantly less predictive of outcome then race.

tick_tock_tick··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
> I'm an atheist myself but I cannot help but think that a lot of our western issues is because we generally no longer see the world from the lens of religion.

Yeah it's a fun situation to be in I'm also an atheist but while not perfect the Judeo-Christian moral and legal framework is pretty damn good compared to everything else we've created.

tick_tock_tick··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
> It's much more effective to address the obesity problem on the front end.

Is it? GLPs cost literally pennies to manufacture in bulk. The government could easily justify a trillion to just buy the rights and give it away for free and still come out ahead on healthcare cost savings.

Everything your suggesting sounds like a lot of work by comparison.

tick_tock_tick··on U.S. appeals court upholds designation of Anthropic as supply chain risk
I mean it sounds like your "bubble" includes not reading the law in question? Not sure if anyone can do much to help you at that point.
tick_tock_tick··on U.S. appeals court upholds designation of Anthropic as supply chain risk
So your saying they are 100% correct and Anthropic is a supply chain risk? All you're doing is trying to justify why they shouldn't be labeled truthfully rather then saying it wasn't the truth (probably because you know it was).
tick_tock_tick··on U.S. appeals court upholds designation of Anthropic as supply chain risk
So they confessed to being a supply chain risk themselves and you're still arguing against the designation?

Private companies can not be allowed to control what our military does I feel like I'm in a crazy worlds how can people possible be arguing for that.

tick_tock_tick··on EU Floats Canada Becoming the Bloc's First 'Associate Member'
> (as usual, the key blocking point that will need lots of work will be food, eve more than it is with the US, I wish we could scrap that entire part to get a v1 going quickly but alas it's not how trade deal work)

I mean food/dairy/autos (which is also a major EU issue) have been 90% of the issues with Canada/USA trade for decades too so I have my doubts of them figuring it out any better.

I guess Canada is way more motivated then ever before as rapid souring of the relationship with the USA from this point would be a near economic collapse for them.

tick_tock_tick··on EU Floats Canada Becoming the Bloc's First 'Associate Member'
> but they need to federalize

That's not happening or if it did they'd lose a third of the members doing it.

tick_tock_tick··on OpenAI bots knew about the RubyGems caching vulnerability
I mean it's surprising to think you're 99% sure while being wildly off base. Everything in there require intent.
tick_tock_tick··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
People don't invest in the US from Europe because they love the US, but rather because investments in Europe are shitty.
tick_tock_tick··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
What are you joking Canada has nothing. Seriously look what they actually export they're a natural resource depot for the US. They don't even refine their own products.
tick_tock_tick··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
I mean they caved because they don't have a choice. Look at how their economies have done since the great recession.
tick_tock_tick··on Felony charges for citizen deleting phone data at US Border
Like what? The big one people always try to bring up when they make coy statements like this is Roe v. Wade but no one thought that was a strong ruling. Even later justices who were strong proponents of women's right to chose like Ruth Bader Ginsburg thought it was a shit ruling.
tick_tock_tick··on Tell HN: Cloudflare silently injects its analytics when you switch nameservers
The OP doesn't understand what they are configuring they have Cloudflare setup as a proxy.
tick_tock_tick··on England set to be one of the first countries to eliminate hepatitis C
It's not AI the BBC is just that bad at news. Serious read anything by them at it's like they hate real information and just want random ass quotes from people.
tick_tock_tick··on Codex Security
Almost all my tool/skill scripts are in python purely because the standard library has almost everything under the sun in it.
tick_tock_tick··on Jellyfin founder Andrew leaves team
I've never tried it for audiobooks frankly didn't even know it supported them.

> Let me provide a per-folder template for extracting season / episode information.

That's frankly not what I would call a bug and a bunch of work for near zero benefit. Not to be mean but why do you care? and if it really bothers you just use hardlinks let jellyfin see what it needs and you can have your pretty version for youself.

tick_tock_tick··on Jellyfin founder Andrew leaves team
> There is a crazy amount of bugs which I have no confidence will ever get fixed.

Like what honestly I've been running one for years and have had nearly zero issues.

tick_tock_tick··on Claude Code uses Bun written in Rust now
well you'd hate my work then plenty of people have zero issue opening

DRAFT: DON'T MERGE CI TEST

and then they forget to close em when they go another route and they sit around for 2 months until they auto close or they fix it up into something reviewable. It's been a thing at literally every place I've worked are you really saying you don't see that?
