tnolet··on Security Disclosure
I'm not sure what you mean. If I have an app that sends emails (Sendgrid), maybe an SMS (Twilio), connects to a database (Planetscale), talks to some AI vendor (OpenAI) in the background and has a Stripe integration, I have no other option than to store the credentials for those services with my app at the cloud hoster of choice.
tnolet··on What on Earth Is Dekton?
No. Genuinely happy customer. Not everything is a psyop.
tnolet··on What on Earth Is Dekton?
Had a new kitchen and bathroom installed last year. Most surfaces (kitchen counter, shower and general bath room) all Dekton or one of Cosentino’s other lines.

I was apprehensive: it is expensive and “not real stone”.

Super happy with it. Spilling red wine, putting sizzling hot pans on it, accidentally dropping big pans on it. Dekton brushes it off.

Go into debt if you have to.

tnolet··on Show HN: Quake ported to safe Rust, playable in browser
For web UI tests this is mainly solved, at least when using Playwright. It allows setting thresholds, percentages and some other config items to allow some small differences in pixels. https://playwright.dev/docs/test-snapshots#options
tnolet··on Rails World 2026 Opening Keynote [video]
aha, that explains the podium. Thanks for enlightening me. Kudos to Railsconf.
tnolet··on The Google Play app review process now regularly takes longer than a week
That's quick. The Slack App review takes 10+ weeks.

Is this visual style Fable or Astra. I see it everywhere now. It’s the new black and purple
tnolet··on Bending Spoons buying Miro for $1.355B
Why would it be a typo? Miro was doing $600M ARR, some of their customers were paying them $100k+ a year. That is totally normal. It would be weird if they did not have such customers.

Overheard: "The Italian exit"
tnolet··on Bending Spoons buying Miro for $1.355B
For remote companies, it is quite useful and really a white board replacement. We use(d) it for customer research, retros, design exploration, architecture diagrams, data modelling and a ton more. Figma (Jam) is way too designer focused.
tnolet··on Bending Spoons Agrees to Buy Miro for $1.36B
Hmm, did not know Miro was in the sh*tter. Seemed to be quite the market leader there. Maybe overvalued and couldn't get the revenue up?
tnolet··on No Man's Sky Cosmos
Exactly sums up my experience. Bought it day one. Still bores the hell out of me.

tnolet··on Dutch Train Map Simulator
Netherlands is ninth on this list by the UN, but that includes (even tinier) countries like Monaco, Luxemburg and Belgium.

So I guess the NL is about top 5-ish in the world density wise

Remember when this came out. Coming from trackers like Screamtracker and later Impulsetracker this was amazing.
tnolet··on Postmortem of a British Startup: Tract
About 6% to 10% increase in housing cost due to immigration in the UK since 1990. Total increase ~150%. So marginal impact.[1]

But nice populist dog whistle.

tnolet··on Ableton Extensions SDK
Totally unrelated, but it's still interesting that a lot of the key music software was / is created in either Berlin (Ableton, Native Instruments) or in / near Hamburg (Steinberg of Cubase — now owned by Yamaha — and Emagic of Logic — now owned by Apple). There must have been something in the air.

Actually the opposite: they came into their prime after the acquisition. Probably not due to Salesforce, but still.

tnolet··on Cloudflare acquires Astro
Refreshing to see an acquisition (acquihire?) that just plainly says they were not able to monetize.

100% the most original and truly scary hard SciFi from the last year.
