I find it hard to take this solution seriously when they can't even get the basic facts right. I'm sure this is some kind of argumentative fallicy but Australia's DST started in October and we put our clocks forward one hour, because we're in the Southern Hemisphere and heading in to summer. This semi-makes the article's point about confusion... but really computers have fixed all that confusion for me anyway.
AFAIK that's not an issue? I have VLC on two iOS devices and you open the app, turn on the internal server, go to your web browser and drag/drop files in to it. VLC on iOS plays every format the desktop application plays.

The government needs to re-negotiate it's deal with Telstra, and I expect the HFC network remaining with Telstra as a wholesaler monopoly will be a part of that.
No-one has said they're going to "rip up" the HFC cable. It was to be decommissioned under the old NBN plan and it's future hasn't been decided under the new.

I really feel that while these spinoffs seemed like a good idea at the time (and in the case of Yahoo Japan were very successful spinoffs) having separate businesses with different branding will come back and hurt Yahoo! soon.
There are still millions of iPhones sold every year, even if they're a smaller piece of the overall pie.
Contrast to Windows Phone which never had any kind of market share or importance, and has to fight up from absolutely nothing.
That's the difference between iPhone's small market share and WP's small share.
Of course in the rest of the system if can be incredibly complex to ensure safety, but that's not where the accident you're relying on to make your case occurred.
