v0idzer0··on California's most neglected group of students: the gifted ones
Yes, this has been my experience in my stint running an after school program. It’s an unfortunate reality that must be accepted in order to have sane policy.
v0idzer0··on ICC issues warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant, and Hamas officials
Sure but this sounds exactly like the original definition of jihad or even “from the river to the sea” but people will get very upset if you suggest they mean they want to commit genocide when they chant it. I don’t think an argument over the meaning of ancient words is relevant or helpful here
v0idzer0··on 'A place of joy': why scientists are joining the rush to Bluesky
Not sure I agree with your numbers but I also never see a single political post and everyone seems to say thats all that exists so it might be specific to how you use it or which feed tab you frequent
v0idzer0··on 'A place of joy': why scientists are joining the rush to Bluesky
If bluesky continues to grow, the porn and bots will arrive shortly and presumably it will have less resources to combat them than the much better funded X. Or does something in the design help here?

Regardless, I think this is more the new home effect. When you move into a new house, it is clean and you design it with intention. Over the years, it gets dirty and you start to hate the art you liked (people you followed) years ago.

FYI it’s “Darth” Vader not “Dark” Vader. I too thought it was “Dark” as a kid

Regular old react without server components has been able to do this long before Svelte existed with SSR

v0idzer0··on Is React Having an Angular.js Moment?
> render a reactive statically rendered website

Regular old react without server components has been able to do this long before Svelte existed. Next.js has done it since day 1. Server components solve for something else

v0idzer0··on Is React Having an Angular.js Moment?
> I can't avoid feeling that the new direction taken by Next.js is not designed to help developers, but to help Vercel sell React. You can't really sell a service around SPAs: once compiled, a SPA is a single JS file that can be hosted for free anywhere. But a server-side rendered app needs a server to run. And a server is a product that can be sold. Perhaps I'm a conspiracy theorist, but I don't see another reason to break the React ecosystem like this.

Feels like this inevitably ends in a fork. It was a hell of a run though!

v0idzer0··on US urged to reveal UFO evidence after claim that it has intact alien vehicles
The article states they happen all over the world and the whistleblower suggests other nations do have them. Give it a read!
v0idzer0··on US urged to reveal UFO evidence after claim that it has intact alien vehicles
Too coincidental for pilot fatigue/shadows AND instrument malfunction to always happen at the same time in all of these cases. There are hundreds of reported instances in the past few years. This is simply not a serious explanation.
v0idzer0··on The death of self-driving cars is greatly exaggerated
Humans also don’t have 8 eyes facing every direction at all times. They also get drunk/tired/impatient/angry etc. The reality is the entire argument is silly. Both are very different and Musk/Karpathy argument is misrepresented here. Saying humans only use vision was a response to “its not possible with only vision” not a statement that human vision is good enough and no need to do better. The 8 camera surround is leaps better than human vision. Where they lack is processing the signal. Human brain does that better. But if you have better inputs (we do already) and you believe you can one day match on the processing part, you’ll one day get a much better result. One thats suited to the vision based roads we have now and scales to literally anywhere not geo constrained like Waymo
v0idzer0··on The death of self-driving cars is greatly exaggerated
It’s generally accepted to mean the use of neural networks which Tesla is obviously using. Good luck even identifying a stop sign with “complex business logic” or “if/else”
v0idzer0··on The death of self-driving cars is greatly exaggerated
Dropping prices doesn’t even have to be about demand. Lot of rivals like Lucid and Rivian struggling mightily in this market. You can pinch them out. You also may just want to share production efficiency gains with the customer for the same reason.
v0idzer0··on The death of self-driving cars is greatly exaggerated
That was just their reply to “is it even possible?”. Their argument is that vision actually works better than sensors. The signal processing data it receives is higher quality. You just have to know how to process it like the human brain does. It’s a harder solution, but if solved a better one
v0idzer0··on AI-Controlled Drone Goes Rogue, Kills Human Operator in USAF Simulated Test
It’s written to be clickbait. They want you to think someone actually died.

Why is called layoffs when Meta, Microsoft, Google, etc let people go to lower costs but firings when Twitter does it?
v0idzer0··on [dead]
Not a big fan of the guy but he’s correct that 90% of what journalists write these days is entirely fabricated or at least woefully misrepresented. A friend of mine who works at [large digital media outlet] told me recently of the discussions of hiring striking film writers as they are more adept at creating reality as opposed to reporting on it. Sadly this is the job now. Mere facts cannot compete and those writing them will be bankrupted by their lack of imagination.

Journalism most closely resembles advertising now. Your job is to figure out what people want to hear and deliver that regardless of whether its true (rarely it is). Obviously there’s demand for the downfall of Pharma bro. You have to tell the people the stories they want to hear.

v0idzer0··on Social media can be a ‘profound risk’ to youth, surgeon general warns
Statistic don’t affirm or deny impact. They are facts. The rest is left to you. Why are you trying to exaggerate its impact by suggesting we suppress statistics (facts)?
v0idzer0··on But what if you're wrong?
Right about what? We know for certain masks don’t stop the spread, the vaccine doesn’t prevent us from getting or spreading the virus. So you’re 100% wrong there. The only other claim is lab vs nature. US intelligence believes it was a lab, but we don’t know for sure and you certainly know less than them.
v0idzer0··on But what if you're wrong?
Have you considered you might be wrong?
v0idzer0··on Fake Pentagon attack hoax shows perils of Twitter’s paid verification
It’s a good thing that people are being forced to be skeptical of what they read on the internet. The idea that people blindly consider info from bloomberg credible is horrifying. Bloomberg is a place where the wealthy pump stocks they want to dump and trash stocks they want to buy with a sprinkling of paid PR
v0idzer0··on ‘Verified’ Twitter accounts share fake image of ‘explosion’ near Pentagon
This entire article is misinformation. Theres no such thing as verified accounts. Just paid ones.

v0idzer0··on Elon Musk Bashes Remote Work
Obviously context is missing here given this is clickbait but vast majority of Tesla workers are factory workers who can’t work from home. He’s arguing it’s unfair to them to let everyone else do it. I actually disagree since theres nothing fair about the pay discrepancy or anything else but it’s less ridiculous than they’re trying to make it sound
v0idzer0··on Musk attacks ADL for saying his anti-Soros tweets will embolden antisemites
The fact that Soros is jewish means he cannot be criticized for his actions? Is this really the world we want? If Musk were born jewish, would all the commenters here now be antisemites?
v0idzer0··on Musk attacks ADL for saying his anti-Soros tweets will embolden antisemites
If you have to take the George Washington quote out of context to get triggered by it, aren't you just trying to get triggered? Maybe you enjoy it? Lots of people do. Ask anyone who works in media. Even just sharing the complete sentence would show it’s a perfectly rationale statement.
