valentinvieriu··on Show HN: HN Glance – a visual reader for Hacker News links and discussions
I do aim for modern devices. For example I have a scroll observer that will scroll the page inside of the thumbnail as you scroll down so you can preview more of a destination page. Can I ask what tablet are you using?

My main target is Desktop - preferably large monitors - but also mobile - but the experience is a little bit more limited on mobile

valentinvieriu··on Show HN: HN Glance – a visual reader for Hacker News links and discussions
Author here:

I built HN Glance because I often find that a title, score, and comment count aren't enough to tell me whether an HN link is worth opening.

I'm a visual person, so I've added a visual preview of the submitted page so you can quickly judge whether it's an article, paper, product page, paywall, etc. The screenshot isn't meant as decoration — it's part of deciding whether the source deserves a click.

I've also been experimenting with how to read deep HN discussions. The normal nested comment tree is still there, but there's an optional Discussion Focus that lets you navigate a branch through columns while keeping the selected comment and its path back to the root in view.

The broader idea is to make it easier to answer two questions: is this story worth my attention? and, once I'm interested, is the value in the source, the HN discussion, or links people shared in the discussion?

I'd be interested in feedback on the discussion navigation in particular.

Now that I’ve had a closer look at https://www.orangecrumbs.com, I see that they’re trying to address the same problem: how to enhance the consumption of those valuable feeds and provide additional insights to their users.

I appreciate your proposal, and in a way, I’ve already explored a similar idea. However, for this concept to be successful, you’ll need a large screen, preferably wide. Unfortunately, I haven’t had a comparable good experience on mobile devices.

I’ll revisit this idea. Thank you for the feedback. However, I want to ensure that the reader remains focused. In today’s fast-paced world, everything revolves around quick consumption and filtering options. I wanted to create a quick way to scan and evaluate the content, followed by a simple way to immerse oneself in the article, read it, scan it, and check the comments.

I assume the lag is browser-dependent. I don’t resize images for thumbnails. I want to keep this simple and cheap to maintain. My next step is to find an easy-to-maintain pipeline for generating screenshots and thumbnails.

I didn't knew this project. Thank you for sharing. I'm always looking for better ways to consume / filter this amount of information.
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: AI-Driven Haiku Poetry with Lexica Images Using Cloudflare GPU Workers
Author here: This was a fun weekend project using the new Cloudflare GPU Workers(https://ai.cloudflare.com/?gpu) and Lexica Search API (https://lexica.art/) See The code: https://gist.github.com/valentinvieriu/8c9e911fa268726462d66... --- Best Viewed on a Mobile phone when added to the home screen.
valentinvieriu··on The Exclusive Website
I’ve opened it on 2 devices and showed 2 different numbers. So either the counter is fake, or there is a load balancer issue :)
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A list of short .com domains that are available
It is very raw indeed. What service are you using to check the availability? Any api that you recommend? I assume you’ve used brute force to generate all those domains. Can you expand a little?
valentinvieriu··on Docker Image Name Generator
My favorite part of it is at the end of the file :) if name == "boring_wozniak" /* Steve Wozniak is not boring */ { goto begin }
valentinvieriu··on 1SecondPainting: Generate abstract paintings in one click
Congratulations on the project! This looks very similar to my project: https://art42.net I've used the higher resolution model 1024, and I also chosen to generate the picture in advance. It's expensive to generate them realtime.
valentinvieriu··on Why we stopped using Helm tests for our integration testing in Kubernetes?
Is this about Helm2 or Helm3?
valentinvieriu··on This Artwork Does Not Exist
I was wondering this too. Thank you for sharing this. I've had a similar idea with https://art42.net and wondering what type of copyright to add. Is this Creative Commons?
valentinvieriu··on This Artwork Does Not Exist
I've launched a similar project some weeks ago. https://art42.net see the previous thread https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22344254
valentinvieriu··on This Artwork Does Not Exist
Hehe, is funny how some ideas are just swimming in the minds of contemporary people. This is what I'm doing with https://art42.net
valentinvieriu··on This Artwork Does Not Exist
Credit should have been mentioned at the beginning of the project. HTML is not that hard!
valentinvieriu··on Watch AI generated art on your TV
Author here: Some weeks ago launched https://art42.net , a website to explore an infinite stream of AI Generated art. I wonder if a live streaming of AI generated art and music would be something that you would love to see in your living room tv? There is a White Backgorund Version (https://youtu.be/3bVGunLp2dU) and Black Background Version (https://youtu.be/ArXCHitvKu0)

Is this something that you would put on your tv in the background? As always, feedback is apreciated.

valentinvieriu··on Show HN: Abstract AI generated art on your TV
Author Here: This website has been shown before see discussions on https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22344254 Now I'm introducing an easy way to display AI Abstract art on a idle tv / monitor. You can control the refresh rate and also the images being displayed via query parameters: https://art42.net/tv?itemsCount=1&refreshInterval=360 I'm curious if this is an interesting addition to the Online AI Gallery.
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
I've added the option to print now. Feel free to give it a try
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
It would be great if it would be :) At this moment is just an art experiment
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
Would really appreciate it! Please connect with me on twitter @valentinvieriu
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
Interesting idea. I will give it a try to see what is the output. I was looking for something in this direction to make the brush feel more appealing. Thank you
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
Yes there is an initial seed that it's needed, and it's baked in the name of the file. So if in the future I'll find a way to improve the quality, you can get the same result by passing in the seed
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
I think Mario Klingemann said it the best. https://vimeo.com/298000366 This becomes just a tool, like everything else
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
I need more $$ to feed the GPU monster, and then you will get more texture :) This is more of technical issue that can be solved quite easy, but you are right, most of them lack details and texture.
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
In this case, you decide. You click that Favorite button and it's a decision you make. The AI artist has a set of rules that learned from the previous trained art pieces, but the final shape, and the final decision is yours. You like it or not, and it's quite personal too.
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
Interesting, so would you say that the infinite aspect helped out the experience or damaged it? I've had doubts first when I've introduced it ( more from caching perspectives and data transfer costs ). But then I've wanted to showcase this amazing feature of those networks of generating an infinite amount of unique items, and also offer an unique experience to every user, the possibility of seeing unique art and bookmarking / printing it if considered
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
So the backend is simple, i've chosen to pregenerate 1 mil images at the beginning so it gives you some idea of diversity. I"ve tried to generate them realtime, but my server would have not survived the hackernews popularity today. The gan model is created by me, see in the comments above. I'm planning on bringing up new images on a daily timeframe, keep the one that people choose as favorites and delete the ones that were not popular
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
I have other styles too, and I'm planning on exchanging the AI on a regular basis. This was the one that I've personally liked the most. It was also the one that required the least training. I only have a 2080ti, and those models are quite hard to train. If you have recognisable shapes ore faces, you can quickly create some very disgusting art pieces that will make people sick. At this moment abstract seems to be the best solution.
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
Yep. Please click on the favorite button :) so I can keep the favorites
valentinvieriu··on Show HN: A stream of AI-generated art
Well the resolution is good enough.I've gave it a try and looks quite good on a 50cmx50cm canvas. You need to upscale it once or twice with a Super-Resolution AI algorithm
