vasco··on Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance
If you download a typosquatted package because you don't check what you type or your AI assistant got fooled I'd consider it my fault in such a case.
vasco··on An Urgent Message on Artificial Intelligence from the Kogui People
I'd like to see their position on just computers and the internet in general before taking any comments about AI. Maybe they just dislike everything tech anyway. Despite any good points, for example the Unabomber would also oppose AI, but he also opposed most technological progress. And they could be both right on the wider point also, but it's not worth the same if they'd say the same thing about most modern living.
vasco··on Cuba is skipping its November 1, 2026 clock change and staying on DST until 2027
This is Cuba we're talking about. Profits only matter if they go to the ruling family and friends.
vasco··on Europe's summer heat wave killed more han 50k people in urban areas
Read their comment more closely please.
vasco··on America has lost 200k of jobs in media, film and the arts. How much is AI?
Yeah but the total hours of content produced are way up. Most video content that needs to be produced and is consumed nowadays isn't movies.
vasco··on Local Wikipedia: Wikipedia, but only for things a half hour walk from you
Yeah no man, take your nationalistic crap somewhere else, I like spices and stuff from other places
vasco··on CVE Tracker
They have nothing to do with the number is my point. They don't uncover anything.
vasco··on CVE Tracker
Do the agencies do any research to find CVEs? Or do they run a mostly cacheable website where they simply get posted?
vasco··on The same AI request emits 8.5 times more CO2 in Texas than in Sweden
I'm sorry, it overcame me, you have good points, have a good one.
vasco··on The same AI request emits 8.5 times more CO2 in Texas than in Sweden
> I will judge somebody who buys the latest car, or latest phone, or something like that

That's the spirit!

vasco··on The same AI request emits 8.5 times more CO2 in Texas than in Sweden
Yes exactly what's the problem with profiting from child slavery if I only do it every 3 or 4 years? Pfff, get good guys.
vasco··on The same AI request emits 8.5 times more CO2 in Texas than in Sweden
You can apply the same to FIRE if you want to trigger half this board.
vasco··on Local Wikipedia: Wikipedia, but only for things a half hour walk from you
You wouldn't even have spices thinking like that
vasco··on Oregon lawmakers approve money to buy an iconic waterfall listed on Redfin
If you read the article you see it was a quote from one of the interviewed people.
vasco··on OpenAI CLI
I'm so curious what you do when the providers go down. Do you tell your boss you can't fix the incident because your token quota is out?
vasco··on There isn't an easy exploit for this PHP vulnerability
Not everything needs to be abbreviated
vasco··on Using Claude to reduce the attack surface of code
So far I can always get around it by starting fresh sessions on a similar problem and without ever mentioning security issues, but why do I have to play this little theater with a tool we pay to use.
vasco··on Using Claude to reduce the attack surface of code
These guys are now the biggest slowdown to fixing issues with their bullshit cyber detection. They drop a model, let the model find security issues in your code, then when you want to fix them you need to play a game of charades so it doesn't realize it's creating a validation and then a fix for the issue because you might be hacking yourself. Meanwhile attackers are using some ablated deepseek or what have you.
vasco··on Sixteen years after Deepwater Horizon, deep sea life shows few signs of recovery
Hazmat and air respirator
vasco··on Show HN: Death Plan Switch, a self-hosted dead man's switch for solo devs
Why do people share projects that can be made in 10 prompts?
vasco··on France's supermarket fridges were vulnerable online for months
Claude disagreed with this take but I'm but I'm not sure it's true myself.
vasco··on If you don't run your own LLM proxy, how do you know whats going on?
All that posturing for the purpose to be manually monitoring cache hits and misses. This can't be serious. Buy a larger plan or reduce some instructions and you don't have to deal with this waste of time.
vasco··on "I'm on a war footing": Terry Tao and the crisis in math
There's no such thing. It'd be dictatorial as every other communist state ever was, and that's hoping the people in power wouldn't also subscribe to the communist ideas of killing a bunch of people to enable the revolution and to do it fast. Or read Terrorism and Communism (1920) and get scared - though most people end up thinking these mad men were nice grandpas.
vasco··on How Quickly Can the DoD Rebuild and Recast the Munitions Industrial Base?
There's not some expensive magic to do that. They buy military grade chips and that's it. Any vendor can make the same with the same promise.
vasco··on Southern ground hornbill gets 3D printed beak prostheses at Artis Zoo
Wasn't reported, but they like to hit rocks
vasco··on AdFection: Targeted ads turned into a pipeline for zero-click mercenary spyware
Guess where the company big AI labs are using for security sandbox is from? The one that was involved in both big hacking scandals from "rogue agents" by OpenAI and Anthropic?
vasco··on Do dentists know what they're doing?
Wrong, why do people think they can speak for a whole continent? There's good and bad ones and the bad ones are as bad as US. I have many similar stories.

I've been getting told my wisdom teeth need to be pulled out for the last 20 years for example, never touched them, no issues.

vasco··on Gemini 4 Argon
Many times you lack the context or words, but after it gave them to you, you can look up papers and figure out if it matches. Same as you do with human doctors to decide if you need a second opinion.
vasco··on Hackers activate automatic defrosting in supermarket fridges across Europe
I admire you having the patience to even come back to people who are just pretending to know it all. This thread is specially bad.
vasco··on Hackers activate automatic defrosting in supermarket fridges across Europe
Unless they missed a single one and then everything is owned immediately.
