vault··on pg_durable: Microsoft open sources in-database durable execution

why is Azure/durabletask disabled? ':)

vault··on delta time
If I open the shared link in an incognito window or browser, I'm not expecting a fresh start. I expect the data encoded into the URL `?c=` to restore my session, which I'd like it to include everything I do on the website: birthday, layers, skip tutorial, etc.
vault··on delta time
The share & restore feature is not working for me. Only the birthday is restored. Other settings & skip tutorial are reset.
vault··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (February 2026)
Handy is missing from the comparison page ;)
vault··on Show HN: Mantic.sh – A structural code search engine for AI agents
Is it possible that you are advertising mantic as an MCP tool without it actually being one? Or at least please document how to use it as such.
vault··on It seems that OpenAI is scraping [certificate transparency] logs
Correct, that's what I did with caddy, which is now periodically renewing my wildcard certificate through a DNS-01 challenge.
vault··on Ruby already solved my problem
Like you, I remember 15 years ago when I decided to solve Project Euler in Ruby, a completely new language to me. I still remember the joy I was feeling when I started coding with this new language. So elegant! So natural! Like it was made to fit my brain. It's a pity I ended up working professionally with entirely different stuff.
vault··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2025)
Anybody unemployed that would like to try doing this for EU? With the author's green light (or even collaboration)
vault··on Ask HN: Has anyone else been unemployed for over two years?
Took me 15 months to find a job after a layoff and then I accepted the first offer that came, which is basically worse in every aspect compared to my previous job. I've read all your stories and feel unexpectedly so connected with each of you. It can be hard. I just want to wish you all the best.
vault··on Dotter: Dotfile manager and templater written in Rust
I've been using "homegit" for years and never felt the need for a replacement.

vault··on End of an Era
dark reader screws this website so badly
vault··on Strings Just Got Faster
why is a website about programming not writing code blocks in ASCII? I'm referring to quotes and other undesirable symbols
vault··on Someone at YouTube needs glasses
Not sure what you mean with "completely disables it". I have watch history disabled and still see shorts in search results or subscriptions results https://www.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions
vault··on Statewide fluoride ban for tap water passes in Florida
I don't think this is, among the recent posts about US, the one for which you should have such a reaction... but maybe I'm missing something important here.
vault··on Raspberry Pi Lidar Scanner
My opinion is that skipping lidar is nonsense. Check Mark Rober's video, published one month ago, "Can You Fool A Self Driving Car?" where he compares a Tesla with other Lidar-equipped cars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQJL3htsDyQ
vault··on It's easier than ever to de-censor videos
I noticed the link in Jeff's post to RX 10 Elements Noise Reduction. The audio in their YouTube presentation was not horrible at all though. Has anybody tried it with some real horrible recording? Like those from a blink mini camera in a room without furniture.
vault··on Mario Vargas Llosa has died
Don't forget Salvini's party, that stole at least 49M between 2008 and 2010. Nothing bad happened: they just have to return them, 600k per year, for 70 years. It's calculated that the final real value of the returned money will be less than 20M. Absolute scandal.
vault··on TV Garden
Thanks. I could spend hours watching distant cultures. Their colours, environment, technical equipment... I saw some people in Somalia using DJI microphones, those that in the West are mainly used by YouTubers.

I also see TVs that are normally subject to fees. I'm aware the FAQs say it's only public streams, but I fear this won't last long.

vault··on Italy demands Google poison DNS under strict Piracy Shield law
> The rental company immediately bills you for the fine

...just to find out the card is blocked :)

vault··on Cloudflare R2 Global Outage
why is the date `Oct 17, 2024 - 20:26 UTC`?
vault··on Hoppscotch: Open source alternative to Postman / Insomnia
You should ask instead "What does it NOT do that the others do?"
vault··on How to improve your WFH lighting to reduce eye strain
@jahfer what about dark mode/night mode? are you using it?
vault··on I've Acquired a New Superpower
Wow. Thanks to MarkusWandel I discovered I can focus images while crossing my eyes and finally understood your comment. I've always done the "uncrossing" since I was a kid.
vault··on Sora is here
I wish that after Sora and Sora Turbo they would release Sora Lella
vault··on GitHub cuts AI deals with Google, Anthropic
I wonder if behind the choice of calling the human user "mona" there's an Italian XD

vault··on OpenFeature – a vendor-agnostic, community-driven API for feature flagging
From your naming, I would have done the opposite :) Start with courage 0.05 and show experiments whenever it is greater than the threshold. To enable a feature for everybody, you lower the threshold to 0.

How did you measure "experiment tolerance"?

vault··on Show HN: iFixit created a new USB-C, repairable soldering system
the Hakko FX-951 is discontinued and its replacement FX971-44 costs GBP 350. would you also recommend the FX888D that is half the price, ignoring second-hand market?
vault··on The Google Fit APIs will no longer be available after June 30, 2025
Pixel and Gemini are those that I remember right now.

EDIT Android 1.0 was released on 2024-09-23 ;)

vault··on Ruby: A great language for shell scripts
I'm glad you never worked at a bank or an insurance company!
vault··on Why curl closes PRs on GitHub
We also do squash and merge by default in my company. Each PR is supposed to represent one and only one feature and/or change. Can you please better explain the disadvantages of this? Of which editing are you talking about? What needs to be edited after the squash and merge?
