vilifiedtwin··on New Google ChromeOS updates cause 100% CPU usage, heating issues
I think these kind of things should be taught in schools from young age, so that people would have some understanding why some things happen they way they happen (for example why could laptop that has worked perfectly fine become barely usable after few months) and strategies of critical thinking. I am pretty sure there would be at least one person in the room when such decisions happen saying that, but there will be another person saying: What about the economy? Some people unfortunately still believe in broken window parable - that if people could fix their own laptops, then economy would collapse, but they don't think how much people could get progress with their goals if they didn't have to spend money on a new laptop every time it slows down.
vilifiedtwin··on Amazon’s UK FBA operations will be split from the EU
I for one hope that the Apples imported from New Zealand I buy I will get them cheaper. Hopefully we will get more products from around the world at affordable prices. EU economy is inefficient and their products are too expensive. For me it is a good riddance.
vilifiedtwin··on Google siding with Saudi Arabia, refuses to remove government app tracking women
If you are going that path then why not tell Google stop hosting other immoral project like news apps that publish pro war on drugs stories and misinformation about the drugs, preventing people from making informed decisions and causing deaths indirectly? That's more serious than women's tracking app.
vilifiedtwin··on Skirting U.S. sanctions, Europeans launch trade mechanism for Iran
Veto is going to be dismantled sooner or later. There are plans to scrap veto for tax policy. Furthermore if there will be no veto and the citizens would dislike the new legislation there will be new EU army to keep people in check.
vilifiedtwin··on U.S. Changes Visa Process for High-Skilled Workers
Exactly that. I know so many people with masters degree that cannot code at all. They only learned how to pass exams but have no ability to solve problems on their own. I would argue that talented people would rather avoid a place where they cannot learn anything useful and universities more and more become just that. My view is that the US shoots themselves in a foot and that is good for other countries.
vilifiedtwin··on A funny rap song about the pains of pair programming
Pair programming reminds me of a sweatshop type of situation, when there is no time to reflect for too long just produce code so that your pair won't tell your boss that you are stupid. Code driven by fear is never good. Okay, you might have a pair that you feel comfortable with and tackling the task at hand goes easy. But in that case again, probably you didn't have time to think when you couldn't get something right and your pair gave you solution instantly. This way your learning is screwed and of course you got the output, but this has done little to better yourself. Pair is fine to get to know someone, perhaps show new person a project and do a simple task with them, but other than that it is a waste of time. Basically two developers solve one task whereas they could solve two and also learn more.
vilifiedtwin··on The EU's Link Tax Will Kill Open Access and Creative Commons News
Not only that - there is absolutely no accountability for those laws. If whatever they pass turns out to be a disaster, nobody would go to jail for that and public wouldn't be compensated. Worrying fact is that they are constantly pushing it to test how far they can go.

It is more like politicians realised they can make a lot of money creating regulations in the internet space for whoever pays more. Just like they do with anything else. They just need to wrap it with nice words and public is going to buy anything, you just need to cook it in the media for a bit. I am being cynical but there are no good intentions in the politics, it is only about power and money. They just need to be careful to not anger the Plebs too much.
