vivekamn··on Mororola's new free Android IDE
They also have code snippets and Application Creation wizards. I think the later will be useful what with the api still being unstable(pmi pkg disappearing between 1.0 to 1.5 etc).
vivekamn··on Guy Kawasaki: A Dozen Don’ts for Entrepreneurs
Guy Kawasaki used to write good articles based on insight gleamed from his personal experience. But these days he seems to be more about just generating some content to get eye balls so that he can push alltop. He is losing credibility fast.
vivekamn··on Ask HN: What are you working on?
Doing feasibility on white label mobile social network.
vivekamn··on Ask HN: What's necessary re: server RAM?
I am running a rails app with 100,000 pages views/month with a 86MB slice(not at slicehost though) with <2sec response times. The pages are pretty heavy dynamic pages.
vivekamn··on How to become a better entrepreneur in 30 minutes
Another take on 'copy' is to take an idea that worked in one market and do it another market with appropriate localizations applied. Say a successful product in US done right for India.
vivekamn··on Sphinx: Search Outside the Box
If you are using Sphinx on a rails project, I strong recommend Thinking Sphinx(http://freelancing-god.github.com/ts/en/). We used to use Ultra sphinx plugin, but thinking sphinx is more flexible.
vivekamn··on Ask HN: Who has gotten a job with absolutely no connections?
I think for developers the advice of 'work your connections to get a job' is highly over rated. In my 15 years of experience not even a single job I got is based on connections.
vivekamn··on Ask HN: Gmail feature you just can't live without.
keyboard short cuts.
vivekamn··on Introducing Page Speed
I also liked the specific action items. Like which exact css selector is inefficient. Also liked it called out the exact images that could do with compression, what % can be gained and even a sample compressed image!
vivekamn··on Ask HN: How to stay focused?
Go full time on your idea. Or at least make some commitment so that there is a monthly burn(say a hosted server or a github account at the minimum). Nothing like pressure to keep one focused. This is from my own experience.
vivekamn··on Ask HN: FAQ Pages useful?
FAQ is not the first thing I look for in a site. To me, in context hints and help links are more useful. Personally, I would focus more on these. I do check the faq, if all else fails to explain.
vivekamn··on Ask HN: The most fun and beautiful code you know of?
Solutions in Programming Pearls. Each solution is iteratively improved with the proper reasoning.

vivekamn··on Ask HN: I've Got a Project, You Tell Me The Language
RUBY/RAILS. As productive as Django. More books, good community and so on.
vivekamn··on Poll: How many HN readers are working on a Startup?
full time on a startup
vivekamn··on Lessons from a failed startup
One of the best startup retrospectives I have read. Especially the points about marketing and user acquisition are very relevant to what I what I am doing currently.
vivekamn··on Hey, HN. I put a lot of time and thought into this GUI. I'd love some feeback.
When you have tabs(options/welcome in your case), it might be a good idea to visually indicate which is the current tab.
vivekamn··on Zero to Brand in 48 Hours - A Webinar for Startup Founders and Brand Hackers
He tell that you should state your offering in max 3 bullets. And in his intro of his company crams like 19 items into one slide!? Again, he asks you avoid jargon, did anybody notice how much jargon was in their intro?? Dude, practice what you preach.
vivekamn··on Ask HN: Startup PR - How could they get so many coverages?
Timing is another thing. When we tried to get press for a site targeted at moms, we had a lot of luck approaching news papers, tv shows and blogs around, surprise!, women's day and mother's day.
vivekamn··on Ask HN: What would you love to pay for if it was available?
Second that. So many crappy serials get renewed, why in the hell this got canceled?
vivekamn··on Ask HN: What Paid Services Do You Use For Your Startup?
github.com speedyrails(rails VPS)
vivekamn··on Ask HN: Why is it so hard for social media/networking sites to monetize their users?
I second that. Having their own ad network has worked out great for cafemom.com a ssn for mothers.
vivekamn··on Evaluate My Real Estate Feedback Project
For ny site based on user feedback, solving the chicken and egg problem is going to be your biggest hurdle. Can you bootstrap the initial reviews from some other source?
vivekamn··on Ask HN: What do you think of my group chat app?
You should consider the ability to embed this as part of a website.
vivekamn··on Ask HN: Would you pay $5/yr for HN?
Yes. I would also pay to get more attention for my questions. Sort of like many game worlds, where you can earn points either by activity or by paying hard cash.
