vonzeppelin··on Bob Moore, who founded Bob's Red Mill, has died
Bob's Red Mill Extra Thick Rolled Oats with a couple of over easy eggs on top is my jam.
vonzeppelin··on Supreme Court limits EPA’s power to cut emissions
This is mainly because Congress will not increase the size of the House of Representatives. If we were to give Wyoming a single representative and used that as the bar for how many citizens a representative should actually represent then California would have 82 members in the House instead of 53. California would be worth 84 points in the Electoral College while Wyoming would still only be worth 3.
vonzeppelin··on Nearly all of the Western USA is in drought and it's not even summer yet
Honestly this is a neat idea.
vonzeppelin··on WLW: America's 500,000 watt radio station (2015)
Home of the Reds. Been listening to it my whole life.
vonzeppelin··on America’s elderly seem more screen-obsessed than the young
I don't understand why people are so addicted to their phones they literally can't even take 15 seconds to concentrate on pissing anymore.

In addition to that you're at a row of urinals with a camera out. It's just straight up weird to me.

vonzeppelin··on America’s elderly seem more screen-obsessed than the young
Older people may watch a ridiculous amount of television but I've only seen young people staring down at their phones while using the urinal.
vonzeppelin··on Couple wins millions using lottery loophole
When the jackpot reached a certain amount, say 500 million, they could switch from a winner takes all to essentially a raffle with 500 winners. I think it would greatly increase the number of tickets purchased when the threshold was met.
vonzeppelin··on The ice bucket challenge dramatically accelerated the fight against ALS
No. If you live in a democracy then the tax money is yours. You are the government. You have every right to complain about what they are doing with your money.
vonzeppelin··on Why Are Japan’s Cherry Blossom Trees Blooming in Fall?
The buds that are flourishing now in Japan won’t open again in the spring, but fortunately, the proportion of blossoms that have opened in recent days is relatively small. So, Wada tells NHK, the unseasonal bloom is not likely to affect the splendor of the cherry blossoms next spring.
vonzeppelin··on Voting Machine Used in Half of U.S. Is Vulnerable to Attack, Report Finds
You already have to have an ID to get a job. Who can't do this once in their life?
vonzeppelin··on Voting Machine Used in Half of U.S. Is Vulnerable to Attack, Report Finds
Where is it not cheap and easy to get an ID card?
vonzeppelin··on The Coders of Kentucky
Isn't it more likely that they had a class limit of 50 and not that the 750 didn't have the chops to become a software engineer?
vonzeppelin··on Apple can delete purchased movies from your library without telling you
I've noticed a lot of my older purchased music on Amazon Music is now unplayable without any notice to me. Usually the complete album is gone but sometimes it leaves me with just a few of the songs still playable from the album.
vonzeppelin··on DuckDuckGo's bang
I find myself using !g, !a, !w, and !mw the most. I like that I can go directly to these services instead of a search page.
vonzeppelin··on Study Finds Increased Incarceration Has Marginal-To-Zero Impact on Crime
You could say the same to any country with forced conscription.

vonzeppelin··on Most Remote Spots in USA Wilderness Complexes
Most countries don't even have have a width of 1000 miles so I find this claim questionable.

They were a lot more expensive until recently though.
vonzeppelin··on The 'Over-Parenting Crisis' in School and at Home (2015)
> Nonetheless those of us actually raising children in this country don't actually do that stuff. Chill.

Except the ones that are?

vonzeppelin··on Is killing the boom the key to supersonic air travel?
But how does a suicidal pilot apply to airport security?
vonzeppelin··on North American vs. Japanese zoning
>The EC was arguably created (in it's existing format) to protect the interests of southern, slave-owning states. At the time, roughly analogous to resisting tyranny of the majority (as the urban north had more people, especially as slaves weren't fully recognized as people),

I don't know that this is true.

vonzeppelin··on Just About Everyone with Bitcoin Is Lying to the IRS
Credit Karma's tax system couldn't even handle multi state tax filings so there is no way their tax filers could have been a good representation of anything.
vonzeppelin··on Police say shooter’s anger over YouTube policies ‘appears to be the motive’
>Incidentally, today is MLK's birthday.

vonzeppelin··on New York Times CEO: Print journalism has maybe another 10 years
I prefer the print layout as a way to consume the paper rather than the usual web/mobile interfaces but I don't need it to be physical paper. I am perfectly happy with the Washington Post print edition app so I hope they will keep carrying that on if they ever stop printing altogether.
