I think you are right about the concern of privacy. The scary part is most don't even read the Terms and Policy Agreement.
I would stay away from 99Designs because if you're launching a beta you'll need someone to also help iterate any changes based on feedback. So quick and close communication is important.
if you need any further input on what kind of things you should be looking for from a designer send me an email.
I've helped over 12 startups with branding including 2 YC startups.
The problem isn't that you have a genie, the problem is that you have to tell people it's a genie.
A few things to mention about the brand is that a genie and the name companyhub don't really blend well. When ever I brand something I look at the name, the product and the vision. I ask myself what icons, letters, colors can I use or combine that tell what my product does with out having to say it.
Also the logo it's self is not really iconic and memorable. I'd say explore your options, if for some reason you want to stay with the genie theme maybe try a genie lamp instead.
That's because the quality of work an employees produces dramatically decreases working more than that. Over time an employee working 60+ Hours per week will become exhausted and drained physically and mentally. Which will make them lose passion, less focused and become very unhappy with their job.
40-50 hours give that individual enough time to complete reasonable tasks and still have a work life balance. Employees who have more time to spend with family, friends and on their hobbies have shown to produce higher quality work and are more committed to their jobs.
You also shouldn't be worried about how long an employee works but how well they work.
Like the saying goes "Quality over Quantity"
We also think finding the right contractor is smart idea too because it will allow us to make the changes without equity like you said. Which than we can scale the product on our own to get the traction/funding we need to hire the right CTO.
We've really only had one investor question us on not having a CTO anyway.
However we have recently been told by a big name investor he doesn't consider anything under 30k user validation. So I could be wrong.
My concern is that the product has bugs and backend isn't ready to support massive growth.

As for non technical things that have helped me
1. Saying No more often 2. Cleaning out the trash (Eating Healthy, Organizing my schedule/home/projects and Cutting Nonsense Relationship) 3. Finding my anchor (The things that ground me, keep me centered and give me purpose. Like family time, a cold beer with a old friend, etc) 4. Understanding my mission (This is something a lot of people struggle with because most people don't know what they want to do with life.
For me the most non technical thing that can help anyone is having the mindset to discover, explore and learn new things.
I would love to read what you come up with so when you have something send it over.
If it's causing a headache, time to man up and handle business.
Right now the company is going threw some similar changes as you. We have decided based on feedback to do a Rebrand. Along with creating a new site. The first site was originally build using Bigcartel. We are still conducting research on what platform we will use but we are certain we will not create a completely custom site.
Simple explanation our company is not a tech startup, its a product company. So we want/need simple maintenance that our team can handle which a platform like Shopify, Squarespace, Bigcartel etc provides. My reason? I've experienced several problems in the past with maintaining a custom site.
The questions we are asking are asking our self, may be something you want to ask yourself as well before you build a new site.
What's our reason for wanting to rebuild the site? Are we seeing loss in sales? How long will it take to build? What do our customers need, that they aren't getting from our site now?
So far we are leaning towards Shopify over squarespace. The only payment option on ss is stripe and all though we love the advance tech stripe is building the rates are to high.
This is what we need out of a social network more social connection. This looks like it has a great opportunity to connect a lot of people who could build amazing things.
I submitted this on Product Hunt
