wil93··on Substack is (not) now powered by Ghost
IANAL but I think integrating AGPL code would affect the license of the rest of the codebase too: Substack would be forced to release the rest of their codebase as AGPL too. This is why AGPL is considered a "viral" license.
wil93··on Hacking Google
I'm under the impression that CTFs are where the top security talent is harboured and discovered, though I have no data about it.
wil93··on Cloudflare's abuse policies and approach
IMHO, the legal definition of "utility" is not necessarily useful. The law is slow, while the real world quickly becomes dependent on pieces of tech. I believe that one day the law will finally catch up and these providers will be likened to utilities.
wil93··on Quordle: Four Wordles in One
One suggestion: could you put the four games side-by-side when the horizontal space allows it?

With a 1792px width (Macbook Pro 16) I have to scroll vertically to see all the games while there is plenty of unused horizontal space

wil93··on Ukrainian plane was 'unintentionally' shot down, Iran state TV says
> Three days is perfectly OK.

Three days of silence? Yes. Three days of active denial? Hell no.

The Head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization had this to say: «The version that the plane was shot down by a rocket cannot be true under any circumstances … it is impossible from the scientific point of view.»

If they really wanted to tell the truth after some days then why wouldn't he just shut up in the meantime?

wil93··on Terence Tao Proves Result on the Collatz Conjecture
> Tao used this weighting technique to prove that almost all Collatz starting values — 99% or more — eventually reach a value that is quite close to 1. This allowed him to draw conclusions along the lines of 99% of starting values greater than 1 quadrillion eventually reach a value below 200.

Isn't this equivalent to saying that "99% of starting values greater than 1 quadrillion eventually reach 1"?

I mean, once you reach a value below 200 then you will continue and reach 1. Not only below 200, but below any limit that was experimentally verified (i.e. around 10^20)

wil93··on “I lost my inheritance with one wrong digit on my sort code”
> Barclays knew where his £193,000 was sitting and, Teich says, knew when the recipient dishonestly began to withdraw the cash.

Doesn't it say that he "bagan to withdraw the cash" though?

wil93··on San Bernardino County tweets it reset attacker iCloud password at FBI's request
It wouldn't add security anyway. In order to encrypt data, they first need to read it unencrypted. Thus, they can't advertise iCloud as "we can't see your pictures", because they can, in theory.
