willchis··on DoorDash to acquire Instacart
I was waiting for you to finish this with "she also gives me hugs and pays half of the mortgage".
willchis··on Roblox downloaded 145GB models from us (including adult content) without asking
Have you seen the price of gold vs. the price of digital art?
willchis··on What’s getting pwned right now
I think I need to use the quote here: "think of a person with average intelligence and then understand that 50% of people are dumber". It's going to be a bloodbath because even if the banks block agents there will still be third-party apps like Robinhood, Venmo, BroApp2027 that are given access and they'll be hooked up to agents.
willchis··on Claude Duet
This is both hilarious and painful to read. One keeps saying "obviate" at every opportunity and concludes every meeting by deciding we need to rebuild the data model.
willchis··on Claude Duet
"I asked the county for Nov 6 or 7" hahaha good luck Claude, make sure you follow up with the county official every other day for the next 8 months.
willchis··on Suicide rates highest ever among middle-aged men
Nah you're way off the mark here and this sounds scarily like how people feel when at their most bleak. I hope this is just you reflecting and not how you feel "in real life" - family needs family and kids need their parents. Kids need their parents even if they're broke and/or out of work.
willchis··on Redesigning source control at Anthropic
We're trending towards just building the thing fast and getting feedback sooner on it. It's interesting to see end users actually trial a UI very early on instead of just being shown designs.
willchis··on I'm in a Meeting
Yes we need Zoom/Gmeet/Teams UI options!!
willchis··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
This is how I feel about it. I've stopped looking at all the scores of new releases and just look at the price to see how much usage I can get in a month. Seems like I'm not the only one either, from comments above like

> "Opus 5.5 is so good that I don't want it to be replaced anytime soon. Stop training models[...]"_

willchis··on Feeling Sad about AI
Definitely a comms gap. I'm not going to sit and list all the evidence for the climate crisis we're currently experiencing in an offhand HN comment. I'm going to say something like "this winter we saw crazy high anomalies" to express how screwed we are.
willchis··on Feeling Sad about AI
"They were nearly the same average for exactly one day in February" says the guy lecturing me on reading noise.
willchis··on Feeling Sad about AI
How is this for a long term trend? Using your own sources: https://ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/meant80n_anomaly.php
willchis··on Feeling Sad about AI
This is why we're so screwed. People can't even read graphs. They'll stand outside in smoke-filled scorching summer heat and say "but Joe Rogan says the earth is in a cooling cycle".
willchis··on Feeling Sad about AI
Also just look at the first months of 2026 in the link you shared - the average temperatures are up to 15C higher in March!
willchis··on Feeling Sad about AI
Go to your first link, click on 2025 and look at the winter values (Nov/Dec).
willchis··on Feeling Sad about AI
I keep mentioning to people that last winter parts of the arctic were 10C hotter than the average for the last 100 years and I get blank looks.
willchis··on Feeling Sad about AI
This is where I'm at mentally... but also it was quite nice for an army of us to get paid six figure salaries to chug along creating React components and sitting in 3 hour retrospectives ;) The ladder has certainly been raised.

willchis··on Launch HN: Almanac (YC S26) – AI that knows your company
How do you manage permissions in the wiki? Does it require all content being available to everyone in the org or does it do some sort of vectorizing that is unique to every single user based on their perms? Whenever we've tried to build something similar, permissions is usually the first headache and is often why something like Microsoft's WorkIQ is appealing (if you're an O365 org).
willchis··on Stop eating Lady Gaga's Oreos
But that makes them a hypocrite and undermines their previously produced works, no?
willchis··on Stop eating Lady Gaga's Oreos
Eat the rich, not their Oreos.
willchis··on Incident with Github.com
A lot of it is inertia I think. I hear people saying that they "just use so-and-so for version control" but really we all have tons of CI/CD build and test pipelines, config, business processes etc in Github (rightly or wrongly).
willchis··on Situational Awareness down 67% in July in AI stock rout
Ha yes it definitely reads like an Onion headline.
willchis··on DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731 Intelligence, Performance and Price Analysis
I hope the irony of being concerned about hallucinations in a bible study app is not lost on you or others reading this!
willchis··on TokenTown: A visual way to understand how LLMs work
Just softmax it over the KV cache dude!
willchis··on 6am News
Nice! It's similar in concept to something that I built (no ads, cookies, pop-ups etc.), except yours looks to be smarter and better organized! https://feathernews.org/
willchis··on If coding has been solved, why does software keep getting worse?
> 'Focus on happy path only, for the MVP' is how you build buggy software. Good developers can learn that this will guarantee the need for a rewrite in the future, but POs never will.

And then when the MVP is done, it magically becomes the shippable product. Then just when the team is getting to grips with how to improve the product, management does a reshuffle and moves teams around. "EXCITING NEWS GUYS, congratulation to Jimmy Whatevs for being promoted to SENIOR Director, he will now head-up the cross-functional-operations team which will be folded under the product-support division."

willchis··on Nothing works and everyone is euphoric
Since upgrading iOS, my iPhone (13) will: - sometimes fail to open the camera - make the bottom half of the screen blank when you do email searches - use more battery - become unusable if you turn on any transparency effects.
willchis··on OnePlus halts operations in USA and Europe
Because their hearts are too heavy and emotional, and their community is too beloved, duh! I really wished companies would just TLDR so you didn't have to read this nonsense every singe time.
willchis··on US House of Representatives takes step to make daylight saving time permanent
Good for job security I guess!
