willismichael··on What Is Gridifcation
It's a false dichotomy. Keep making music that you love. If you want to experiment with more free-form timing at some point, that's fine, but don't let online commentary stop you from making your own music.
willismichael··on Yes, and
Who are they paying to build it in-house?
willismichael··on Rejection Sensitivity in Gifted and Twice-Exceptional Children
Ok fair enough, I should have said that it's not always visible hyperactivity.
willismichael··on Rejection Sensitivity in Gifted and Twice-Exceptional Children
The "hyperactive" part of ADHD is kind of a misnomer, or at least doesn't mean hyperactive in the way that most people understand the word. Think of it more as a tendency to hyperfocus on specific things while completely ignoring other things.

Wouldn't it be enough to detect if the request is coming from a very specific subset of clients and send them what they want?

> With all due respect, paulg is in somewhat of a bubble

I feel like the "ALWAYS HAS BEEN" meme is apropos here.

willismichael··on Why aren't smart people happier? (2022)
> It's not a compliment

Thanks, you had me feeling all smug and then you had to add that part.

willismichael··on Fixing a bricked Framework laptop
This happened to my old framework. After a while of troubleshooting, I removed the battery and it will now boot reliably while plugged in. The replacement batteries aren't terribly expensive, so I'll probably buy a new one soon.
willismichael··on In Australia, a home battery boom has helped cut wholesale power prices
It really depends on the battery chemistry of the specific EV, how many watts you charge at, and deep cycle vs. shallow cycle. Not all EV batteries will hold up to that many charge-discharge cycles.

Even at that, 100,000 cycles is an exaggeration. From what I can tell, you can expect up to 3000 cycles from Nickel Manganese Cobalt batteries before they hit 80% of original capacity. Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries can last for 10,000 cycles before dropping to 80% of original capacity.

No way, it's AI generated content complaining about AI generated content.
willismichael··on Sodium-ion "salt" batteries will revolutionize electric-vehicle and grid storage
Electric bikes and scooters are also vehicles, right?
willismichael··on Sixty percent of US consumers say 'AI' in brand messaging is a turnoff
Understood. Admittedly I'm as guilty as anybody else, but lately I'm trying to take more time away from digital media to spend face-to-face time with people, look at real scenery, and practice physical hobbies.
willismichael··on Sixty percent of US consumers say 'AI' in brand messaging is a turnoff
If our hormonal reward systems are so fried that low-effort staring at a screen has become the most rewarding thing to do with our time, then the content industry has played us like a fiddle.
willismichael··on Sixty percent of US consumers say 'AI' in brand messaging is a turnoff
Maybe I missed the /s, but why do we have to spend our time "looking at content" if it's just full of AI slop?
willismichael··on Fox to buy Roku
I'm impressed that you were able to cancel SiriusXM. I thought that it was set up to cling to people for life, and possibly continue billing their estate after death.

I had a close relative diagnosed with multiple myeloma 25+ years ago (I don't remember the exact year) who only lived for a couple more years. It was rough back then. I'm really glad to hear that there is much better treatment these days.

willismichael··on Sell yourself, sell your work
I think it's hard because documenting something is a completely different skill than exploring and/or building something. For a lot of us, the act of documenting doesn't scratch the same itch.
