This is why the right hates the left.
wkdown··on New partnership changes everything for the DIY diabetes community
Open source medical devices! Is this a first? There is potential for some genuine health concerns where QA and security are involved.
wkdown··on Family traumatized after Nest system hacked by stranger
Is there a sensible way to log IoT traffic? I'm paranoid not just of who may be trying to access IP cameras, but what they may be sending back to their manufacturer.
wkdown··on Tunnel with a rail system is found under Mexico-California border
Can the USGS conduct some seismic tests along the US-Mexico border that would identify these types of man-made changes?
wkdown··on It’s eating fat that makes you fat, new mouse study suggests
We need to stop consuming these food "studies". Every day, fat/carbs/coffee/wine is good/bad/cancerous/prevents cancer in a "new study".
wkdown··on Why are America's elite universities censoring themselves on China?
The banner image is a woman in a Chinese flag turtleneck and the man has a Japanese yen symbol on his mouth?

wkdown··on A Lincoln High teacher gets all his students to pass the AP Calculus exam
The "how" is quite lacking.

I had thought it indicated clickthrough by Feedly users. How could they have overall clickthrough numbers?

wkdown··on Can we colonize the moon?
"We are so concerned with if we could, we didn't stop to consider if we should."
wkdown··on Kindle Paperwhite
I want to be able to use it for RSS feeds as well. Even native Pocket or Evernote integration would be great.
wkdown··on I Do Not Agree to Your Terms
Are you referring also to Columbia House and BMG in the 90s? Sign up, get seven CDs for a buck, then you forget to cancel and they send you "A Barry Manilow and Kenny G Christmas" for $18 plus S&H.

This still happens online with an X-day trial of something, fine print says to cancel or be charged $XX.XX/mo. Good luck figuring out how to cancel, though.

wkdown··on Best Books to Movies in 2015
Glaring omission of Andy Weir's "The Martian"

[Book](http://www.amazon.com/The-Martian-Novel-Andy-Weir-ebook/dp/B...) | [Movie](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3659388/)

wkdown··on What’s the Matter with Ebooks?
This is a good point. I love my Kindle and I read fiction and non-fiction on it regularly. However, anything technical I vastly prefer print. I cannot really say why, other than traversing a technical book is just "easier" to flip around with versus a linear progression like other books.
wkdown··on “Reasons you shouldn't join us: if you're looking for work-life balance.”
Reply to the emails that, maybe once they start respecting employees and hiring developers that respect themselves.
wkdown··on Firefox Developer Edition
For some reason, I convinced myself that Valence was going to allow us to change the engine to Webkit and Trident as well as Gecko. While testing iOS and Android is awesome, this would have been downright incredible.
wkdown··on Real-time visualization of DDoS attacks
While this looks cool, what is a practical application of this?
wkdown··on Burning Man Founders Admit the Festival Has Jumped the Shark but That’s Okay
$380+ for a ticket, you need to travel to the remote area, bring every single thing you'd need, pack it all back out, etc etc. Doesn't sound accessible to everyone, even without the millionaires.
wkdown··on SWAT Team Detains Popular Gamer Who Was Live-Streaming ‘Counter-Strike’
"Hello! SWAT team! May we come in? Good day to you sir. We have reports that you may be manufacturing illegal narcotics and in possession of firearms in violation of your parole. Would you kindly lie down upon the floor so we can ensure that it is safe to enter your abode?"
wkdown··on Keurig competitors crack company's DRM code
I think it is fantastic. Companies lately are moving toward profits over customer loyalty, which seems counter-intuitive. Keurig et al need to learn a lesson from this and stop the silly non-sense. They have already cornered the at-home brewing market (or close to it I would assume) and personally have never seen a non-Keurig branded K-cup that they are so worried about. There is no need to get greedy.
wkdown··on Sublime Text packages for Front-end web development
I would be curious to see a similar list, but for Atom
wkdown··on React Editor Enabled by Default
Am I being stupid/paranoid by not knowing if I want to trust React because it was created by Facebook?
wkdown··on How to Install Wifi on a Boeing 737

wkdown··on The Next Big Programming Language You’ve Never Heard Of
Let me put on my tinfoil hat for a second.

Two companies that love user data are making "languages" for us to write our applications with (Facebook with Hack and React, Google with Dart and Go)

The NSA worked backdoors into RSA encryption. Could the Facebook/Google compilers provide a similar backdoor for them to syphon data?
