wlecometo··on Oceans hit highest temperature on record
that's really looking at things in the worst possible way. China acquired most of the manufacture of the world, so yeah emission increased, the problem is that they did not decrease where the manifacture was lost.

if you look at co2 emission per capita you can see how China is actually an example to follow, we can't say the same for USA, India or EU. you can ask this to chatgpt, or you could also ... search? for this data, it's publicly available.

> China is STILL increasing coal use. STILL building new coal plants. this is misleading, yes they are building coal plants but not using them, that is the backup plan for "rainy days" . and the coal usage is going down.

wlecometo··on Andreessen Horowitz is investing billions into a bleak future
you just need to have a balance. - enough rich people like you so you don't feel alone - enough middle income people that buy to keep you rich and strive to become rich - enough poor people that try everything possible to become richer and throw middle income people to poor.

so you are super rich while others are busy fighting to defend their position or to rise their position.

wlecometo··on Asus Bike Booster
all bikes in the video do not have mudguards. kind of impractical for city bikes.
wlecometo··on The Strongest El Niño Ever
These "most vulnerable ones" are the ones who don't want airco or that believe that climate change does not exist because it's summer of course it's hot.
wlecometo··on The Strongest El Niño Ever
it's the 2026 version of the "are they starving? give them croissant".

"is it warm due to climate change? just install airco"

wlecometo··on European Tech Alternatives
we have been living in the US sovereignty until now, if you don't trust me ask, the people behind, The pirate bay, Dmitri Sklyarov or Kim dot com.
wlecometo··on EU bans the destruction of unsold apparel, clothing, accessories and footwear
> Instead of destroying the unsold clothes in Europe,

they are already being sent to Chile or Ghana to be destroyed there.

wlecometo··on France Aiming to Replace Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.
> When we piss everyone off in the EU tech company growth gets kneecapped and limited to US

well, you can finally hardcode the date in mm/dd/yy format without worrying for a menu to change it.

wlecometo··on Antiqua et Nova: Note on the relationship between AI and human intelligence
> I just want to appreciate how well written and thought out this was

Cath church is well famous on writing good things and then failing at putting them in practice. It took up to 1992 to see an official pardon to Galileo Galilei (1564 - 1642) we are still missing few words on people like Giordano Bruno, killed with fire because he dared to speculate of life outside of earth.

I personally find this piece of text over closer to a philosophic rant rather than an accurate analysis of the current situation.

> The commitment to ensuring that AI always supports and promotes the supreme value of the dignity of every human being and the fullness of the human vocation serves as a criterion of discernment for developers, owners, operators, and regulators of AI, as well as to its users. It remains valid for every application of the technology at every level of its use.

this is being said by the organisation who decided american natives were lacking souls and therefore could be killed, the very same organisation who helped promoting slavery across the world, in the 2nd world war worked together with nazis and it is well known it supported far right governments in south america in the 1970's . the very same organisation against promoting condom use in Africa to prevent and contain AIDS .

> 54. Furthermore, there is the risk of AI being used to promote what Pope Francis has called the “technocratic paradigm,” which perceives all the world’s problems as solvable through technological means alone.[106] In this paradigm, human dignity and fraternity are often set aside in the name of efficiency, “as if reality, goodness, and truth automatically flow from technological and economic power as such.”[107] Yet, human dignity and the common good must never be violated for the sake of efficiency,[108] for “technological developments that do not lead to an improvement in the quality of life of all humanity, but on the contrary, aggravate inequalities and conflicts, can never count as true progress.”[109] Instead, AI should be put “at the service of another type of progress, one which is healthier, more human, more social, more integral.”[110]

TL;DR yes you can use AI but for few things, for other matters please refer to your local community priest

wlecometo··on In Germany, 27 are in 'preventive detention' b/c they might do climate protests
> Protesting without providing alternatives is futile and counter-productive.

Alternatives are suggested but they are largely ignored, postponed to the next legislation, criticized (with no scientific evidence) and finally hijacked by fake environmentalist who are just creating disinformation for their own interest/agenda

wlecometo··on Cash payments above €3000 to be outlawed in Netherlands
because my transaction is a legitimate one until proven otherwise (innocent until proven guilty principle), and i have the right to buy something without letting my bank know what or where i bough it.

I could or could not disclose that payment to my government depending on the laws and if there are fiscal benefits, it is my choice. I should not be forced to use a middle man for those payments, even if this means i am open to be scammed or victim of fraud.

now, as other mentioned, what are some good reasons to FORCE ONLY electronic payments above 3000€ ?

wlecometo··on Silvio Berlusconi, a Showman Who Upended Italian Politics and Culture Dies at 86
no they are not, unless by mafia you are generalizing the term "organized chrime"
wlecometo··on Silvio Berlusconi, Italy’s former prime minister, dies at 86
his party seems the less dangerous because all the others have trained in the last 20 years to mimic it, while trying to seem different.

his party symbolise and perfectly represent the modern core of what is rotten in italian politic..and in the way - most - italian thinks

wlecometo··on Are super-rich people just better at making money?
while i agree that "taking away the all wealth of rich people and divide it among all people" is simply unrealistic, wrong and unpractical, i do believe we could ask the wealthier more "effort" than the actual one, without having to recreate a "ussr 2.0" or worst go again for that awful original "experience".
wlecometo··on EU-wide maximum limit of €10K for cash payments
> SEPA transfers take 30 seconds to clear.

not entirely true, there are several countries in europe in which a SEPA transfer is shown in the beneficiary the next day, the most famous one being Italy. Italy also being the one with specific laws against mafia and terrorism, therefore such transfer would require you to add some additional papers.

> > thats the safest transaction for both sides > that's literally the less safe!

well so it's a bank transfer because once the money has been sent you cannot get it back, the bank acts only on specific cases.

there's literally a million of cases of scams via ebay or similar that involved bank transfers and for which the bank was just "sorry".

> If you are buying something worth more than 10k and you need it now, something's obviously not right.

you are confusing "out of the ordinary" with "not right" and i'd like to remind you our legal systems in EU are still based on "innocent until proven guilty" principle.

wlecometo··on Toyota CEO talks about why he isn’t all-in on EVs
> Toyota is just stubbornly refusing to take the L on their 30 years of research into this. I don't blame them, but I'm not them, so I'll call it how it is.

no Toyota is just not buying the "all in" bet on EV, and they keep researching on other alternatives such as Mirai with fuel cells; the article is quite clear on that.

this imho makes Toyota more reliable than other manufactures who are running at making only SUVs with shitload of batteries just to please the market, greenwashing and not innovating at all.

wlecometo··on Italy's right wing, led by Meloni, wins election, exit polls say
in italy there are laws against fascism and fascist and having a political party that is fascists, just because she's from right that doesn't mean she is a fascist because that would be illegal.
wlecometo··on Italy's right wing, led by Meloni, wins election, exit polls say
well there was already someone named draghi , plural for dragon
wlecometo··on ‘I’d rather eat an actual burger’: plant-based meat’s sizzle fizzled in the US

going off topic, i think that being vegan/vegetarian for 5-6 days a week and one when you eat meat would still help .

wlecometo··on Bikes, not self driving cars, are the technological gateway to urban progress
> Finally its not a great solution for the elderly and has some risks.

it's not a great solution either to have elderly people in a car where one of their mistakes couuld kill people; but it is more accepted this as a "fatality".

btw there are lots of solutions of mobility for elders that do not include a car.

wlecometo··on Amazon admits giving police Ring camera footage without consent

wlecometo··on Auto manufacturer family tree: Who owns what?
no it was not taxation but legal reasons. as it takes years in italy to get a decision from judges.
wlecometo··on Auto manufacturer family tree: Who owns what?
> The Netherlands entire business is to be a tax haven inside the EU market.

while taxation in NL is lower than other countries like italy or French, it is not a tax haven, which is a precise definition that involves also border line legal activities.

what you maybe mean is that NL was able to lower taxes on companies because they understand their values, while other nations decided to go for a "tax the sh*t out of everything" and now they are surprised that companies are closing or moving to other nations.

the actual reasons for FCA and Mediaset to move to NL was more about legal : on average in italy you get a decision in 5 years, in NL on average it takes 6 months.

wlecometo··on Germany’s move to legalise cannabis expected to create ‘domino effect’
This is one of those confusing things as immigrant in NL, on one side the toleration allows all those weekend smokers tourism, especially in amsterdam and it helps the economy (well, debatable) but then the whole coffee shop activity (you can sell but you can't buy) is clearly borderline illegal and by legalizing it could help put under the sun a lots of underground world.

and maybe hit on those narco gangs which looks like are behind de Vries assassination

wlecometo··on EU Commission says it cannot find messages with Pfizer CEO
> Our prime minister in NL recently got away with using a Nokia 3310 to circumvent SMS retention law

that's not entirely correct but people can read more here for example:

https://www.nporadio1.nl/nieuws/politiek/71fd3bb2-b74b-4f4f-...

in this case the situation is far worse and the whole debate on the lack of transparency on decisions taken to fight sars-cov-2 pandemic in eu is something lots of people are protesting .

wlecometo··on The French repairability index – one year after its implementation [pdf]
the two "why" laptops before the frame.work laptop are ranked 97.6 which is rounded to 98 and then 9,8 as score; the frame.work is ranked 97.0 without rounding so it ends being 9,7 .

the frame.work gets a higher score on the ease of disassembly and the tools you need to disassemble, but it gets a lower score on the documentation ( <flame> maybe documentation is not in french </flame> ) and on the price ratio for the component; probably frame.work parts are a bit more expensive in comparison with the price of the laptop.

wlecometo··on Pedal Me bans staff riders from wearing helmets for safety reasons
the same argument might work for walking, but none is suggesting to have helmets while walking
wlecometo··on Dutch digital identity system crisis
if someone gets access to your phone they can do way more damage, but this is accepted.
wlecometo··on We can do better than “same, but electric”
Indeed, people should not be forced and they should be able to choose. And depending where they live different rules could apply.

for example if you live in the city there's no point on having a car and you should rely on a bicycle and public transports

if you live in a rural area you should be able to get some of the electricity you need from solar panels and windmills.

we have room to allow choices and live more sustainable, without forcing one way of thinking to everyone..in the same it was done with this car centric world
