xereeto··on String of recent killings linked to Bay Area 'Zizians'
I think that’s a drastic oversimplification.
xereeto··on This Video Was Uploaded Through a Fishing Line (Tin Can Phone)
Impressive project and maybe it's just hubris talking but I think he could have made this a whole lot easier on himself if he built a duplex modem program and implemented something like TCP on top of it rather than trying to raw dog 100MB through a string.

This video feels like a triumph of working harder not smarter.

xereeto··on A new method to reprogram human cells to better mimic embryonic stem cells
To hell with nature! I have never understood this argument even a little bit.
xereeto··on A new AI app lets users ‘text’ with Jesus
Depeche Mode warned us about this. Someone to hear your prayers, someone who cares...
xereeto··on We need scientific dissidents
US domestic culture war bullshit is decidedly not global politics.
xereeto··on We need scientific dissidents
Sure there are. "Is the universe really billions of years old, or did it pop into existence three seconds ago in its current state including all of your memories?" It's impossible to answer this question scientifically because no empirical test could ever possibly be devised.
xereeto··on Archive.today: on the trail of mysterious guerrilla archivists of the Internet
The way you phrased it definitely made it sound like you were implying it was a bad thing lol
xereeto··on Storing dead people at -196°C [video]
Science doesn’t say anything about consciousness because there is no known way to study it empirically. That doesn’t mean we should start accepting metaphysical woo though.
xereeto··on Storing dead people at -196°C [video]
Yes, preserving my own life is worth more to me than passing resources to “future generations”. I’m not having kids anyway.

Death is a natural part of life, but so was smallpox until it wasn’t. Nature fucking sucks and we should bend it to our will.

xereeto··on Life at the Margin: How I got $25,000 in debt
This blog post takes a lot of words to say “look at how smart I am! there’s no way this could possibly go wrong!”

Maybe it makes me an asshole but I’m rooting for a rates hike or something to give this guy a dose of reality. But I think we all know mummy and daddy would get him out of it.

xereeto··on A room-temperature superconductor? New developments
The transistor was unequivocally the biggest technological breakthrough since fire
xereeto··on Icanhazip: A simple IP address tool survived a deluge of users (2021)
You do know headers are transferred whether you look at them or not, right? A request to icanhazip.com results in a response that is 90% completely wasted bandwidth.
xereeto··on Icanhazip: A simple IP address tool survived a deluge of users (2021)
Not if you use the PROXY protocol
xereeto··on AI is upending the freelance world
These are all very simple low hanging fruit puns. None of these come close to the human example.

That said, I'm not an idiot - AI will get there and probably soon.

xereeto··on The FIP-FS “Microsoft” Scan Engine Failed. Can’t Convert “2201010001” to Long
This bug could only have been introduced after 2000, because if it can't fit a number beginning with 22 it certainly can't fit one beginning with 96.
