xvf22··on Airbus Beluga
The payload capacity is more based on volume/dimensions and not strictly weight.
xvf22··on Airbus Beluga
Saw it both in flight and on the ground in Toulouse and it was oddly majestic.

And in Ontario public service, raises are capped to 1% yearly including benefits.

You wonder how many electrocutions are put down as 'cardiac arrest'. I mean yes, but not exactly natural.
xvf22··on My Bose QC-35 II headphones burst into flames and left me with chemical burns
Possibly when you were looking for the serial number?
xvf22··on My Bose QC-35 II headphones burst into flames and left me with chemical burns
The guy went digging for the serial number after the event.

xvf22··on Ikea Vindriktning Air Quality Sensor Review and Accuracy
I'll say this, the Ikea stuff my parents had incorporated a hell of a lot more solid wood than I see today.
xvf22··on The fish shell is amazing
I seriously hope you have automation to pull these in! Thanks!
xvf22··on Cave-Link: Underground text communication system
I'm reasonably sure VLF and ELF are very much in use but it seems as though ELF was abandoned by the US Navy. The Navy does continue to use VLF though.

xvf22··on An ode to the 10,000 RPM Western Digital (Veloci)Raptor
I can totally relate, I could also tell the link speed by the noises.
xvf22··on It takes a PhD to develop that
The damn downloader in MSFS is the most infuriating thing. In Canada on either of the main ISPs I too out at 40ish Mbps whereas Steam and anything else really does close to the full 500Mbps. It also only downloads sequentially, pausing to decrypt each tiny file. And the updates are huge so it takes a good long while to download 2+GB.
xvf22··on End of the line for Japan's only all-double-decker 'Max' E4 series bullet train
It's interesting that they wouldn't update it. The TGV duplex does 320km/h and is a workhorse for SNCF.

Plenty of startups works on impractical stuff. Not to pass judgement but the fact that startups are trying doesn't necessarily confirm validity. See wireless power.
xvf22··on TekSavvy takes pirate site blocking battle to Canada’s Supreme Court
So yes, some are good. I had an issue where Rogers decided my modem didn't meet their channel bonding spec and capped me at 75ish Mbps silently even though I was paying for 150 even when I changed to a new modem with more channels. Teksavvy wanted to roll a tech (no matter the arguments and speculation about Rogers being a bad actor) at the height of the pandemic (disadvantages of being a reseller). I ended up having to change to a higher tier then back to prove it was a provisioning issue that Rogers had manually put in by forcing a reprovisioning.
xvf22··on TekSavvy takes pirate site blocking battle to Canada’s Supreme Court
I have Bell fibe but keep Teksavvy around as an automatic failover. Not just for practical reasons but I would like to give them money for advocacy but can't really stomach the objectively worse connectivity (not their fault).
xvf22··on John Carmack visits Starbase
I mean, they built the world's largest high speed rail network pretty damn quickly.

And if that's the case how long until other things get added to the scan list given the precedent has been set.

xvf22··on TinyPICO – tiny fully-featured ESP32 board
Following his Charmhigh PnP saga was a bit painful so I'm glad that his Neoden has so far not let him down too much. The issues he's had with JLCPCB are interesting cautionary tales I never would know about otherwise (changed gerbers etc.)
xvf22··on What Does My Site Cost?
Telus and Bell partner on wireless so we have even less choice.
xvf22··on Tesla loses U.S. designation for some advanced safety features
Thankfully you were alert! The problem is it works really really well just enough to have people drop their guard a bit which leads to all sorts of bad outcomes. Who knows when a car firmware update kills someone by adding a twitch like this where previously there was none.

He's blaming being from Alberta for being shut out? Seems like a slight stretch especially given the lack of proper studies.

> The PR flacks, on their own, tried to clean up and bury the whole thing, out of fear that BillG might get really angry about it. (He never did. Nor did Legal. In the end, it was all a huge overreaction by PR.)

Not sure where you got "Even Bill wasn't happy with this"
