yannski··on Why we’ve decided to decommission Gov.uk PaaS
Scalingo https://scalingo.com is basically a french Heroku-compatible PaaS based on a reliable french IaaS (Outscale, cloud subsidiary of Dassault Systemes, the famous maker of Catia, Solidworkds, etc)
yannski··on Fire declared in OVH SBG2 datacentre building
you're comparing a PaaS with a piece of hardware. It's absolutely not comparable.

yannski··on Bootstrap 4.1.2 released
There's a few refinements in BS4. Refinements that become quickly inavouable. First and foremost the new flexbox directives all grid related stuff (mobile first). That's why I systematically migrate all my projects to BS4 even though it's not 100% needed.
yannski··on Deploying geographically distributed services on Kubernetes Engine
What about databases?
yannski··on Cluster and app management services in Docker Cloud are shutting down on May 21
This is why you should write your app code to be independant from your current provider, Always thinking that you may have to change (maybe urgently) in the future

I still love my N9 and I still reminds how fluid is UI was, especially at the time of slow Android...

It's a bit sad that the article does not describe the "why"...

yannski··on Formation of Tesla Advanced Automation Germany
So you're basing your conclusion on a graph that's mixing EV and PHEV? And only for the month of August? BTW due to its seasonality you cannot make any assumptions about the car market by looking at only 1 month.
yannski··on Open Source PaaS Built on Docker
Thanks for the advice. We'll do that.

You may find what you want from our addons list here: https://scalingo.com/addons We have an addon provider API http://developers.scalingo.com/addon-provider-api/ and we're now working with several third party providers to enrich our marketplace.
yannski··on Heroku2scalingo: migrate from Heroku to Scalingo in a minute
We'll have a new location in Singapore in the coming weeks/months. But if I understand well, it's not enough for japanese users?
yannski··on Heroku2scalingo: migrate from Heroku to Scalingo in a minute
In fact we started the project in june 2013 because even though we were very fond of the way of thinking proposed by Heroku (git push and that's all), their pricing was way too high to target a lot more people.
yannski··on Heroku2scalingo: migrate from Heroku to Scalingo in a minute
Unfortunately, we had to discontinue our free plan. Too much work for no money :/ We setup a free trial instead (30 days, no credit card required).

Yep, you're right, we'll clarify that: we're renting bare metal servers from a french company which is not OVH http://www.agora-hosting.net/
yannski··on Meteor Raises $20M
Yep, that's... interesting. For sure real time web application needs better reactivity when scaling up and down. But you can already achieve this kind of reaction time on existing platforms that uses Docker for example (disclaimer: I'm working on the Scalingo PaaS that already supports MeteorJS app, see https://scalingo.com/meteorjs-hosting).
yannski··on Hosting for Node.js apps done right
Could you elaborate a bit on "their TCP socket implementation is such a joke" ? Are you talking about the Ruppell's Sockets addon ? What's your problem with it ? What could be an improvement to it ?
yannski··on Appsdeck, EU-based PaaS, is now in open beta
Founder here.

1. when we'll charge a credit card (which should happen in the coming weeks as we're incorporating the company), we'll be already cheaper than Heroku in a price/performance ratio 2. to be honest we're more pessimistic than you about the number of containers that we can host on a single server like the one you cited (at Appsdeck we use only SSD equipped servers with more cores than in the machine you cited)

That said, our price could change a little bit depending on the real workload that our cluster can handle in real life.
