z3t4··on MCP Explained
You could make a push-to-speak-hardware-button and talk like walkie-talkies. If you have an existing device and you only want to do it in software, there's usually extra buttons you can bind to, like the "AI" button, or volume button.
z3t4··on I struggle to believe that AI R&D is ingenious
It's like reading a news paper, when it's about your field of expertise you find lots of errors, but when it's about something you don't know you take it at face value.
z3t4··on Cuban: Facebook knowingly runs AI deepfake scam ads; docs say $16B fraud revenue
The companies serving the ads are basically shooting themselves in the feet, because as more and more people learn not to trust the ads, their ad revenue will go down.
z3t4··on sshole
You should never ignore exceptions! The least you can do is to crash the program. Then you fix the bugs via battle hardening until it no longer crashes. Making the program not crash by ignoring the errors will just mess with the state of the program until you have no idea what caused it. It's better to let it crash, load the dump into your debugger tool to see what went wrong, then fix the bug, and repeat until you have a stable program. Rather then just live by the motto "ignorance is a bliss".
z3t4··on So my ISP was hijacking my DNS
The story ended before it even started... What are the machine with the wrong IP doing? Is it just forwarding the request, or what is happening?
z3t4··on StackOverflow now gets fewer than 1000 questions a month
Summer vacation, orgs choose what tech you use, but when you can choose yourself it's easier to find answers from the community
z3t4··on Removing Next.js Got My Blog to 100 on Every Lighthouse Category
It's like taking a plane and adding 6 hours to the commute. But flying is more fun, at least in the short run. If you need to do it for years you would use more simple and stable tools.

I think when people get tired of AI generated invitations they'll go back to this.
z3t4··on Tsrs: A Port of TypeScript to Rust
Too late, I just encoded a quantum spin oscillator crystal that can infer the types of all existing and future programs

z3t4··on Amazon pushes up prices across the Internet
POV: you just completed the order and discovers you have ordered from China and it will comme in 100 small packages over a period of three months.
z3t4··on Hister: A private search engine for the pages you visit and the files you keep
Did irrelevant keywords ever work for the spammer? You could add "naked" as a keyword because it had a lot of searches compared to "compiler". Now what happened to those looking for naked cats when they got to your website about code compilation. It's not like they would stop and think "oohh I'll look at this instead"
z3t4··on Mexican student creates an acoustic fire extinguisher to put out fire in seconds
Watching that dude is like watching a child doing science and then using AI to explain the result. If he makes someone curious enough to do experiments on their own it's still a win though.
z3t4··on Technique for Manipulating Satellite Photos Now Reveals Ancient Images (2025)
When I was a kid you would get yelled at or even outright banned from using a computer if they found out you where programming. I printed out programming code and read it at home like if it where magical runes.
z3t4··on Astra for Coding: Why Are We Doing This Again?

Any book recommendations, that is not satire, about navigating the political landscape?

Spotify had a good app when it came out, p2p and UDP custom networking...

z3t4··on The same nine streaming subscriptions cost $702/year more than in 2021
That CD collection will be worth a fortune because I assume half of it can't even be found on the streaming services.
z3t4··on How I advertise malicious software on Google Ads
Before Google maps, map services used to be super expensive. You can't compete with free beer. You would need to disrupt Googles main business first in order to even out the playing field.
z3t4··on On Really Trying (2009)
When I was a child I trained Athletics. In a training session the older kids pranked us or whatever, they measured our long jump and everyone jumped crazy lenghts. We could not believe it! I jumped one meter over my personal best. But they assured us, it was correct. As a naive and autistic kid I didn't question it, it's now as an adult I think back and analyze (i have good memory) it must have been the case... Anyway two days later there was a meet and I first jumped my ordinary length, but I now believed I could jump longer, I just needed to use more force, so I did, a bit longer, added even more force and speed, until I got the same result as the training session two days prior.

Giving away your phone would be one thing, but they also force you to give away your passwords and unlock at gunpoint.
z3t4··on Reverse Jevons Paradox
In micro economics theory they call this price elasticity where you try lowering the price to see how much more customers buy and you plot that to a graph calculator to get a curve and the bend on the curve is the price elasticity. Then you can calculate the optimal price to maximize sales.

If you are visiting Sweden in the summer look for the sign "Loppis" where ppl are selling used goods.

In Sweden where I live you need to use the digital national ID whenever you make a credit card transaction via some app, for example when buying a bus ticket, so you need to have it with you at all times. But with the ID you can also take a quick loan and transfer all the money to a foreign bank basically ruining your life as the bank take no responsibility if the ID is used during the transaction.
z3t4··on Born Against, or why hobby programming communities are against LLM usage
The thing with programming a computer is that the computer does exactly what you tell it to, so in order to implement something well you need to have a very deep understanding of the problem. And it's that understanding that is valuable.
z3t4··on Humans missed 1 in 3 threats approving AI agent commands across 40k game runs
You should use a user directory (AD) and then use single sign on (SSO) or or the like. It feels kinda stupid at first, but when you have many users and many apps the AD will make life easier and with SSO users can sign in with one click of a button.

Using Claude Code is like asking questions in online forums, if anyone remember that, we still have sites like Stack overflow. The difference now is that those asking the questions are actually paying for the answers.
