zer0tonin··on Show HN: Solous, a journaling app like a social media for emotions inside of you
I'm sorry to tell you but this is a problem humanity solved decades ago by using a notebook and a pen.
zer0tonin··on Kentucky man becomes the first humanist granted religious exemption from AI
I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing that. It feels that aside from the regular new LLM releases, there has been no serious innovation for the past four years.

I'm not even talking about holographic game consoles or FTL travel. Why can't we finally have a good container orchestrator that's not kubernetes for example?

zer0tonin··on Kentucky man becomes the first humanist granted religious exemption from AI
I will be happy to put up with CRT screens if that's what it takes.
zer0tonin··on A practical guide to AI image generation, from diffusion to agents
Better hack: learn to draw. End of the story.
zer0tonin··on Why is every rationalist blog post way too long?
I didn't provide a diagnosis, I pointed out that this was a symptom shared by multiple medical conditions. The difference may seem small but it is nonetheless crucial.

Also if I wasn't incredibly anti-social, I wouldn't be on this site in the first place.

zer0tonin··on Why is every rationalist blog post way too long?
It's a thing called logorrhea: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logorrhea

Logorrhea is a symptom of ADHD, schizophrenia and traumatic brain injuries.

zer0tonin··on Do dentists know what they're doing?
A thing I've discovered too late, but going to a dentist in a shitty neighborhood actually resulted in better care in my experience.

I was basically scammed thousands (and a teeth) by a dentist from Paris 17th (posh part of the city) who was only interested in maxing out my insurance and taking half my salary on top of it. On a tip from a colleague I went to a dentist located deep into a suburb you wouldn't want to walk around at night. Not only they did an amazing job fixing the previous guy's shitty work, but it didn't cost me anything.

zer0tonin··on LinkedIn Larpmaxxing
Somehow I have a bit of reach on it. I don't really read the feed or even check messages anymore tho.
zer0tonin··on September 2026: The world today, as seen by one Polish guy
Cool website design but I will strongly remain in the "nothing ever happens" camp.
zer0tonin··on Ask HN: What Do to Outside Tech?
If you need good ideas, don't ask HN, you won't find any of that here.

Sit down with no distractions other most a pen and a piece of paper, for an hour and write down your ideas. Next day, check if your ideas suck, and if they do (they probably do), repeat step 1.

Also a quick note about entrepreneurship: stop thinking of opening "side business". If you want to succeed, the business has to become your main thing, any job you keep to put food on the table has to become the "side job".

zer0tonin··on Attention is all you have
I agree that clear cut life objectives are important. This generates a competing interest which is the best way to defeat any addiction.

But working on non-impactful personal projects is also not as bad as doomscrolling twitter. Personal projects are a good way to build skill and grow your own confidence. Twitter doesn't build anything of significance.

zer0tonin··on Attention is all you have
Try meditation.

If you're completely new to the idea I suggest the book With Each & Every Breath by Thanassiro Bikkhu. It's a Therevada Buddhist book but the breathing meditation instructions in it can be applied even if you want to ignore the other parts of the book.

zer0tonin··on We write code by hand
Luddites were making a praiseworthy point.
zer0tonin··on Ask HN: Is Traditional SaaS Dying?
I'm going to let you in on an open secret of the industry: a lot of SaaS companies were already zombies, only running around because of the large amount of debt they managed to obtain during the ZIRP era.

I am self-employed but I'm tempted to replicated buffer in-house for my social media management. I feel that they are adding a bunch of pointless features while the core of the product is less and less stable.

zer0tonin··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (August 2026)
I'm working on my second commercial game. It's called Paradox Tower.

The game is meant to look like a retro RPG, but it's more of a puzzle about finding the optimal path. You must grab as many power ups as you can to level up your stats, while avoiding monsters to conserve your health.

It's inspired by a niche genre of puzzle/RPG called Magic Towers. If you already know Desktop Dungeon, Soulestination or Tactical Nexus, it's kinda the same idea.

We've got a Steam page up and the demo has been available for a few weeks. Try it out, it's pretty fun: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4142360/Paradox_Tower/

zer0tonin··on Solve math calculations directly in your Firefox address bar
Cool stuff, I had not noticed it.
zer0tonin··on Ask HN: How to you optimize output while not burning out?
I have simply cared about "optimizing output" long ago. Ironically, I think I ship a lot more stuff than people who waste all their time optimizing their life away.
zer0tonin··on Businesses with ugly AI menu redesigns
Somehow in the Netherlands it seems we have mostly managed to escape this. But it's just because people didn't really put any decoration on their menus before, and no decoration is still cheaper than shit AI decorations.
zer0tonin··on Show HN: Eyeball
> I was 0.00% off on eyeball. Beat me: https://eyeball.rory.codes

(It was pure luck)

zer0tonin··on Show HN: Eyeball
This is fun but you need to put "click the line" higher on the page. It took me a while to figure out what I was looking at.
zer0tonin··on The Eternal Sloptember
It's basically every game targetting consoles. Good luck finding any real infos about the Nintendo SDK API on Google.
zer0tonin··on Scammers are abusing an internal Microsoft account to send spam links
I got one of those random 2auth codes email and I assumed my password had been compromised. At least it's some kind of relief to know that it's only a compromised Microsoft email address...
zer0tonin··on We stopped AI bot spam in our GitHub repo using Git's –author flag
> Should we stop giving fun test tasks to our job candidates?

Yes

zer0tonin··on OpenAI and Government of Malta partner to roll out ChatGPT Plus to all citizens
This site really has become a parody of itself.
zer0tonin··on Claude for Small Business
Might? They have had that for a year at least. Plus an entire office block of slave workers in Cambodia.
zer0tonin··on Gen Z Resentment Toward AI Grows as Adoption Stagnates and Workplace Fears Mount
Seasonality of mood and behavior in the Old Order Amish (Raheja & al), shows reduced rates of Seasonal Affective Disorder in the Amish population.

So at least they are quite happy during winter.

zer0tonin··on Show HN: ASCII pixel art editor for the terminal
Holy fuck that is really cool
zer0tonin··on The West forgot how to make things, now it’s forgetting how to code
On my side, I can give many examples of random software that became significantly worse since the AI trend started.

Trainline is practically unusable for purchasing itineraries that go accross multiple european countries. GitHub Actions now contains a bunch of extremely frustrating random bugs. Grammarly somehow gives worse copy recommendations.

zer0tonin··on Show HN: Turning a Gaussian Splat into a videogame
Really cool looking stuff.
zer0tonin··on r/programming bans all discussion of LLM programming
That's very optimistic.
