moores law ftw
094459··on PeppyOS: A simpler alternative to ROS 2 (now with containers support)
This doesnt look open source, so maybe not a good comparison with ROS
094459··on Building a Modern C64 Assembly AI Toolchain
Really enjoyed reading this post, and wanted to make it more broadly visible. I am planning on trying this out to see how far I can push it.
094459··on Crush: Glamourous AI coding agent for your favourite terminal

094459··on Back to the future: Writing 6502 assembler with Amazon Q Developer
Author of the post here. Just reading the comments so apologies for getting some of the terminology wrong. The intention was never to mislead folk , just wanted to share my enthusiasm for emulation and the fact that you could get working code.
094459··on Meditron: A suite of open-source medical Large Language Models
Is this open source? It says the model is the Llama license which is NOT open source.
094459··on Migrating Netflix to GraphQL
Great post, really enjoyed the breakdown and approach taken.
094459··on HashiCorp adopts Business Source License
Yup this is how I see things evolving too. It’s a long game though and I suspect there will be a few twists yet to come.
094459··on Cedar policy language is now open source
What specifically did you find clumsy and how would you have liked it to work?
094459··on Lessons from 35 Years of Newsletter Publishing (2022)
As a relative noob to newsletters this post was solid gold. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom!
094459··on Scaling Mastodon is impossible
I can see most companies not spinning up Mastadon servers simply because of the license.
094459··on Can you stop your open-source project from being used for evil?
Have you not heard of the OSI? I think they may beg to differ on that.
094459··on Zain Nadella, Satya Nadella's son, dies at 26
So sad, it’s always heartbreaking when you loose a child. My deepest condolences
094459··on Support open source that you use by paying the maintainers to talk to your team
I like this idea and it has lots of ups and I can’t think of many downsides.
094459··on I started a paper website business
I am so happy about this site as a few months ago I had a similar idea after speaking to some relatives who wanted badly to blog but was just terrified of the tech. After chatting for a while afternoon in between copious amounts of tea and cake, we came upon a design that involved pen/paper or a typewritten page, and an app that would convert this into a blog post. I hope this does really well and will be sharing this with that group.
094459··on Show HN: Giving a 2D grid a 3D look – part 4
Love this
094459··on EU tech sector fights for a Level Playing Field with Microsoft
The EU tech companies only have themselves to blame in my view. I’ve been working in tech for over 30 years and it was precisely those EU tech companies that created crap products and treated their customers like crap, that made consumers and businesses look elsewhere. I have very little sympathy I’m afraid as if I’m a business or even providing public services I want the best products, support and customer service. That is all it takes to compete, so let’s see some EU tech companies stop whinging and start serving customers with amazing products and even better service. I’ve seen it in pockets, so I know the potential is there.
094459··on Paper Website: Start a tiny website from your notebook
I love this idea. Could open up blogging to whole new audience s
094459··on Open source is coming to financial services
Odd that this post omits any mention of FinOS, a pretty significant stakeholder in open source and financial services. I wonder why they missed that out?
094459··on Which version of JDK should I use?
Thanks for crafting this document, it’s a great start and good to get the discussions started. For me, when I look at which distribution to use I would probably consider other factors that this post doesn’t touch upon completely. What sort of upstream contributions and activity, support across both cloud and on premise and multi architecture support are just a few that come to mind.
094459··on TikTok overtakes YouTube for average watch time in US and UK
Combination of easy to use editing tools and effects to emphasise creativity together with the sound tracks. It’s often missed but the soundtracks were (still) are a big reason for it’s traction. It’s become the new mtv
094459··on Simple Systems Have Less Downtime (2020)
In my experience complexity is more a factor of poor governance, management, focus, and purpose than the actual technology itself.
094459··on Node-RED 2.0
My favourite open source project, still amazing and it just keeps getting better. Amazing work and kudos to all the hard work from the community
094459··on The unreasonable effectiveness of just showing up everyday
I love this post and the approach. It’s worked for me during my life on lots of things.
