ATMLOTTOBEER··on Stringman, an $800 open-source room scale gripper robot
They are a dead end: humanoid robots are a stopgap while we redesign affordances to be automation-first
ATMLOTTOBEER··on Three new discoveries in mathematics, computer science, and physics
Thanks, I work at oai and will relay your approval to my line manager
ATMLOTTOBEER··on New York bans horse-drawn carriages after 160 years
It’s an overwhelming public interest, and it’s not an animal cruelty thing: it’s like 100 people running a business on public land, where the externality is congestion in the lower loop, and horse shit strewn on the ground.
ATMLOTTOBEER··on DeepSeek search and fetch – $0.75 per 1000 successful requests
The only reason this exists today is because normal search providers haven’t been completely disintermediated.

As soon as 100% of traffic to Google searches is not human eyes, they can’t fund it by ad rev, and you will need a service like this

ATMLOTTOBEER··on New York City’s horse-drawn carriages expected to take their last trot
Ok I’ll bite:

30 horses in the park, 6h per horse per day, uniform pooping

Call it 14 kg of feces per day per horse

Humans shit ~100g/day

115k park visitors a day

For humans to match that horse output, nearly 1% of all daily visitors would have to be pooping on the ground…

Granted, the horses have waste catchers, but even under a 90% efficiency regime it’s still 10kg of horseshit spread over the lower loop

It’s not about animal rights at all. Animal rights angle is the strawman used by TWU. Source: I spend 7h in CP/week
ATMLOTTOBEER··on A warning about 'model welfare'
I’m broadly skeptical that atoms and electricity can be conscious
ATMLOTTOBEER··on Vibe Coding is the new Internet Dating?
But you can: you can just: use the thing you’ve built and derive utility from it, casting aside the origin
ATMLOTTOBEER··on Breaking Claude Code Opus 5 Auto Mode
Yeah my first impression here is just “wow python is bad”
ATMLOTTOBEER··on WebMCP: Teaching Your Website to Talk to AI Agents
Hey are we re inventing Tim berners Lee solid protocol
ATMLOTTOBEER··on OTel isn’t going well
Skill issue
ATMLOTTOBEER··on Vomit: Clean up Claude 5's token output with a separate LLM
Ngl I think this is partially an artifact of it having a better grasp of English than almost everyone

Frequently its choice of a particular word is perfect and gives me the vocabulary to talk about the task at hand the way I want

Like it’s tuned to just be “maximally dense” instead of “dense/technical where you can handle it and simple where you can’t”

It doesn’t know where your language strengths/weaknesses are, so it can’t communicate to you like a fellow human does.

ATMLOTTOBEER··on OpenRouter is joining Stripe
Quality and accuracy of information on the internet is going to shit:

Models are already paying per search for gated access to higher accuracy info (this is abstracted by anthropic, chatgpt etc currently where they have cut deals w Google etc to allow their traffic through)

Models don’t currently interact with the economy directly in a real way (by eg themselves deciding to pay for a high quality information source), but they will within a few months as folks get more claw-like agents

Those transactions can happen with bitcoin…. or they can happen on stripe

At least that’s my read

ATMLOTTOBEER··on Linux 7.3 improves performance when running out of vRAM
Totally fixable w a little configuration (ask Claude)

But yeah it’s completely ridiculous and frustrating that the default is to just lock up your DE

ATMLOTTOBEER··on How Compaction Works in Pi
Oh my pi already prunes tool calls on compaction (not sure if normal pi also does this)
ATMLOTTOBEER··on AI is removing the middle class of software engineering?
You need to git good

The fact that you’re nervous means you will be the first to be replaced!

ATMLOTTOBEER··on GPT 5.6 Cyber
Generally no. It’s a good model
ATMLOTTOBEER··on Stateless MCP has recaptured my interest
These days even chatting on iOS you’re getting some “vm-esque” ability for the model to run python etc

They’re essentially provisioning you a temporary vm, so it’s morally equivalent to running cc on ur laptop and remote-controlling from the app, except worse

So if the LLM behind the scene has its own compute environment anyway, why not just use a cli?

This is imo what the cli crowd is actually assuming

ATMLOTTOBEER··on Qwen3.8-Max: A New Bar for Coding and Cowork
Knower
ATMLOTTOBEER··on Qwen3.8-Max: A New Bar for Coding and Cowork
Ding ding ding

Which is why folks should be jumping to pi / oh my pi as soon as possible

This is also why anthropic no finger lets you use the flat rate sub in non-claude-code harnesses

(They do but you are charged at api rates)

ATMLOTTOBEER··on Google fixed more Chrome bugs in June than over the past two years, thanks to AI
Just exploit the edge while it lasts lol
ATMLOTTOBEER··on Show HN: Scala Tutorials – interactive Scala 3 lessons in the browser
Not to mention pyspark stealing mindshare
ATMLOTTOBEER··on Kimi K3 Architecture Overview and Notes
Agreed. Dropped my $200/mo Claude I was saturating for the $100/mo moonshot sub and have no complaints

Plus I can actually see the thinking traces and I’m not getting downgraded/denied by anthropic constsntly…

ATMLOTTOBEER··on Show HN: Claude-thermos – keeps your Claude session warm for you
Glad this exists. It will force anthropic to fix their flawed cache mechanism.
ATMLOTTOBEER··on Human mathematicians are being outcounterexampled
You’re smuggling in a frame here which isn’t obviously true: that mathematics is not just a collection of facts
ATMLOTTOBEER··on Codex starts encrypting sub-agent prompts
No thanks
ATMLOTTOBEER··on Codex starts encrypting sub-agent prompts
Can you not abuse “mcts” as a buzzword like this

The thing you’re gesturing at isn’t mcts in any real sense

ATMLOTTOBEER··on Podman v6.0.0
I think it’s probably correct strategy wise to just “do the right thing”

They’re essentially long junior devs asking Claude to set up podman

ATMLOTTOBEER··on Claude Sonnet 5
Agreed I think your strategy is optimal. This is what I landed on as well
ATMLOTTOBEER··on Bun has an open PR adding shared-memory threads to JavaScriptCore
