Curious, adaptable and meticulous developer, with a taste for backend and DevOps, supervised and distributed systems, infrastructure as code, and automation.

Disabled (French “RQTH”). I probably can’t make it past the usual hiring process because of that.

My favorite tools: NixOS, Elixir, Tailscale, Zsh, NeoVim, Blender, ffmpeg.

I also like poker and video science (gamma transfer functions, timecode, etc.).

Diti··on I struggle to believe that AI R&D is ingenious
One opinionated answer to this question: LLMs can’t jump [1].

Diti··on Show HN: Unclickbait – Replace clickbait YouTube thumbnails
DeArrow does it.
Diti··on Show HN: Unclickbait – Replace clickbait YouTube thumbnails
It’s worse, since DeArrow benefits from its community to get actually relevant thumbnails.
Diti··on SOML – A Config Format for Humans
I found out about this format because of PowerShell DSC (the Microsoft equivalent of Ansible). The format itself is very neat, but the `Import-PowerShellDataFile` cmdlet is absolutely unhelpful at showing you where the error is if it cannot parse the PSD1 file.
Diti··on Anthropic logged net loss of over $80B in first half of 2026
> I think todays latest models would satisfy most users, so it makes me wonder how soon until we can run it on our machines without having to subscribe and with China handing us freebies?

Because of the DRAM shortage, not anytime soon. But if you’re willing to pay for inference somewhere else, Deepseek Flash 4.1 is good enough [1]. It might be going to be extra cheaper soon, too [2].

Diti··on Iosevka is an open-source, sans-serif and slab-serif, monospace font
Pragmata Pro. The font Iosevka is based on.
Diti··on AI is a tool and using it well takes skill
This knowledge has always been present in the product’s documentation. What you needed for learning is a chatbot, not general-purpose probabilistic automation which acts as a conversation simulator.
Diti··on Bitwarden Dual License Model
Bruce Schneier [1] thinks it’s a good idea [2] too.

Diti··on European payments groups join forces to challenge US dominance
Challenging US dominance by implementing your European payment platform on AWS? Weird take…
Diti··on Show HN: Avoid smooth spinners, use low-FPS spinners
Mozilla employees up until recently (2024), and research literature, seem to be calling them throbbers as well.

Anecdotally, I’ve only ever heard non-frontend developers call them “spinners”.

Maybe starting a discussion on the articles’ talk page could elicit some change? Language evolves, after all.

Diti··on Show HN: Avoid smooth spinners, use low-FPS spinners
That is how language works.
Diti··on Dutch governments builds alternative for Microsoft based on NixOS
Ask your favorite LLM to write an overlay for whichever package you need patches applied for before they hit Nixpkgs.
Diti··on Show HN: Avoid smooth spinners, use low-FPS spinners
Those aren’t spinners (also called numeric updowns, see [1]). Those are throbbers (also called loading icons, see [2]).

Diti··on Claude Code reads AGENTS.md only when telemetry is on
Nope! Claude is even able to understand AsciiDoc just fine (which is a blessing). But it will always insist on the Markdown extension.
Diti··on Why does mathmain need an encrypted loader?
There are plenty of programs on Git forges which aim at not using dependencies. We do not need to wait centuries for it to happen.

On the top of my head: https://github.com/EtiennePerot/parcimonie.sh#why-a-reimplem...

Diti··on Backups Aren't Simple
In this instance, the system worked as designed. Phone got wiped after too many incorrect PIN inputs.
Diti··on CSS-Tricks in Limbo
I use Hetzner and Bunny too. What does Coolify do in this instance?
Diti··on Fable 5.1 Solves the Cyphral Distich, a 370-year-old cipher
And at the Noita eyes. No good either.
Diti··on GamersNexus and LG: Or why rooting your TV is a bad idea
Not disclosing a vulnerability you found to the manufacturer (while the product can still hopefully be patched) is “not responsible”. I think that’s what the person is trying to say.
Diti··on I changed my license
How is it “the best”? It’s inapplicable in any jurisdiction which guarantees authors cannot give away their moral rights. So literally any other license which requires attribution is better than CC-0 in that case, for instance.
Diti··on Can I opt out of my input or output data being used for training?
This gets posted literally moments before I was about to pay them after ditching Claude. Thank you! I hate data collection in paid products.

I think I will be using Kagi Ultimate for the inference UI, so the data is somewhat anonymized before being collected.

Diti··on Google Has Removed MV2 Extensions from the Chrome Web Store, Including UBO
This exact issue is why I have been paying for my e-mails for the last 5 years.
Diti··on “I just chose words carefully”
“SUCCÈS” and “ERREUR” work too.
Diti··on No AI Fridays
So is everybody, apparently. https://x.com/htmx_org/status/1726986945430233323
Diti··on That's a Lot of YAML
I also wonder why it’s the 2012 version of the language which gets all the hate, instead of the hate being directed at Google, who doesn’t care about putting resources towards updating the main offender, Kubernetes’ YAML 1.1 parser. https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/issues/34146#issuec...
Diti··on Show HN: A techno machine in one HTML file, with verifiable renders
It is vibe-coded. Consider it is public domain. If it isn’t, ask your favorite LLM to launder this project so it is licensed under your own terms.
Diti··on Show HN: See how much your AI knows about you
I got similar results, with just memory disabled in profile.
Diti··on Using the railway network as a flatbed scanner
Is there something wrong with the pictures in the second half of the article? It seems like they are taking forever to load (about 30 seconds each), one at a time. I’m on mobile (iOS).
Diti··on Printytron – Describe a part, get a printable STL
I wonder how! I’m getting refusals too:

> I cannot fulfill this request. I am unable to generate sexually explicit models or adult toys.

Diti··on Show HN: Smarter Shell History for Zsh
It’s fun to see the difference between the LLMs (or between the LLM and the person) before and after commit `3c275fdˋ. The project switches from big diffs with commit messages on day one, to smaller diffs with no commit messages besides the summary on day two (today).

Good idea though, I’ll ask Claude to make me the same but without the `fzf` dependency – Zsh’s “ZLE” is powerful enough.
