Ethcad··on Modernity has made us allergic
Apparently the exposure to peanuts is often harmful. Definitely not something you would want to try without a doctor.

Ethcad··on A.I. Companies Agree to Safeguards After Pressure from the White House
We need regulations requiring mandatory watermarks on the outputs of troll bots
Ethcad··on A.I. Companies Agree to Safeguards After Pressure from the White House
Yeah, if they put watermarks on generated images then everyone will just immediately stop using their product and switch to a competitor.

There's some interesting work using steganography to mark generated text (https://arxiv.org/abs/2301.10226), but I'm not sure if that's what they're talking about here.

Ethcad··on Tokyo Is the New Paris
The archive link has a paywall notice at the bottom
Ethcad··on Taurine deficiency as a driver of aging
It's 0.1%
Ethcad··on Introducing Electron Fiddle
There is a grammar error in the first sentence of the README...

> Electron Fiddle let's you create and play with small Electron experiments.

Ethcad··on Worms frozen in permafrost for up to 42,000 years come back to life
No, it said oldest living animals.
Ethcad··on Python 4.0 Confirmed in 3.7 Documentation

Ethcad··on Apple Will Go All-OLED in 2018
This title is misleading. The article suggests that all iPhones will use OLED displays in 2018, not all Apple devices including Macs and iPads.
Ethcad··on Librem 5 design report
Yeah, that’s a bit of an odd way to write it. I guess it’s intended to be easy to compare to 16:9, 21:9, etc.
Ethcad··on Mecanum wheel
Same problem we had this year (Power Up). We built two drive bases, and when we tried the Mecanum one against our 2017 robot, it just got pushed right out of the way. No friction.
Ethcad··on Apple’s 2019 Mac Pro will be shaped by workflows
There was. Apple shared it in the WWDC keynote when talking about changes to Xcode.
Ethcad··on KotCity – an open-source city simulation game written in Kotlin
Seems like bad news that the programming language it’s written in is one of the main selling points...
Ethcad··on Jupiter is deep
This is Hacker News, not 4chan.
Ethcad··on Understanding word vectors
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but wouldn’t it be a medium gray in RGB? Or are you talking about HSV?
Ethcad··on Vulkan is coming to macOS and iOS, but no thanks to Apple
Agreed. It’s awesome that you can write a game once with Unity and not only have it run on all platforms, but have it run with the native, optimized rendering framework.
Ethcad··on Kactus: Design version control without changing tools
The website looks exactly the same as that from GitHub Desktop: https://desktop.github.com/
Ethcad··on Atom 1.24
Try VS Code. It works well out of the box, plugins are easy to install, it's faster than Atom, and very actively developed, with major feature releases coming out every few months.
Ethcad··on Chrome 68 will mark all HTTP sites as “not secure”
Right back at you. How is buying an iPhone over an Android giving up essential liberty? I always have the right to sell it, go to the store, and buy a device that lets me do whatever I want.
Ethcad··on Server-Side Swift from Scratch
I wish them the best! I really enjoy Swift, as it takes the best of concise, "dynamic" languages like Python and adds a static type system and a smart compiler that catches lots of errors. Really a much better choice than Ruby in a lot of ways. Now if only the machine learning community would take notes...
