Frannyies··on We built an AI-powered Magic the Gathering card generator
How would the LLM balance it automatically?
Frannyies··on Texas paid Bitcoin miner Riot $31.7M to shut down in August
It's not as you can't control the dezentralizatiin.

50% attack is real.

The best is our grown PoS system we currently call us dollar, euros etc.

Bitcoin not even solved the account recovery feature or any fraud protection.

Frannyies··on Running a 180B parameter LLM on a single Apple M2 Ultra
I only meant the trained model.

You would need to steal it all over again as soon as the next model is trained.

Frannyies··on Co-founder of DeepMind on how AI threatens to reshape life as we know it
I can make reasonable guesses.

I'm only finding some cartoon character.

What do you reference?

Frannyies··on Co-founder of DeepMind on how AI threatens to reshape life as we know it
And?

You still have more food choices and proper entertainment.

It's warm when you go to the toilet at night.

We even have the trend of people transforming their garden into stone garden due to the effort.

What's the benefit of those assets really?

Frannyies··on Co-founder of DeepMind on how AI threatens to reshape life as we know it
Let's see. Currently out poor have it better than kings 200 years ago.

(At least in Germany)

I don't say this is fair just that it's easier for a society to increase the base level for everyone

Frannyies··on Running a 180B parameter LLM on a single Apple M2 Ultra
They have a huge cost incentive to optimize it for runtime.

The magic of openai is their training data and architecture.

There is a real risk that a model gets leaked.

Frannyies··on The Decomposition of Rotten Tomatoes
For me the critic score is a 'is this valuable as a cultural enrichment of movies' vs 'do people like it'.

What you do with information is than your decision.

Best case you know and trust your critics because you align to a certain degree with their experience and movie taste.

For example "now you see me" is a shit movie. Magic in a movie doesn't work and the main hidden character basically breaks the whole movie but apparently the audience loved it.

Frannyies··on Unreal Engine 5.3
It has never been easier.

The quality of all tutorials, the easy free download, marketplace and the community are great!

But isn't it primarily ACs everywhere?
Frannyies··on OpenAI CEO Sam Altman First Person to Get Indonesian Golden Visa
What's the pull for Dubai?
Frannyies··on What are emerging/promising areas of tech to get into today?
Nope.

The industry is adding ai right now left and right.

This takes time and experts.

And all the small companies probably haven't even touched it.

And currently there is no end in sight. The r&d progress is still as high as not higher than yesterday.

Frannyies··on Ask HN: Why there is a labour shortage in Germany?
And? This doesn't tell you who is voting.

It only tells you that plenty uneducated vote because you can count the votes for afd.

Frannyies··on Ask HN: Why there is a labour shortage in Germany?
Whenever I see a documentation asking people about this than it's the money.

One guy makes now 2k after tax by working for a small wine seller.

He was head of the bar for over 10 years and made LESS before!

And not having any stable schedule.

Same with bakers: the good one came up with a strategy to do much less work at night and is able to find people the other one didn't change a thing.

Also in Germany it's quite common to become an engineer (metal etc) and software is still very abstract for a lot of people.

The deindustrialization thing is independent of this I think and correlates more to Germany not having any real greener resources besides coal.

There were company owner interviewed who just complained about how instable the energy is but instead of investing anything and doing something about it he prefers to create a new company location in Sweden. Which is actually not bad in my opinion we don't need to have every industry in Germany just to have it.

Germany is a dense country. And in Sachsen there is space but not much Industrie and a lot of Nazis (you know poorer and less educated people who are right wing) and I don't want to move there either.

Frannyies··on What are emerging/promising areas of tech to get into today?
AI.

AI!

Did I mention ai?

Srsly go into ai.

Start learning what is already here (so much) learn to use it, learn to fine-tune it and if you then still not busy enough: learn to really understand ai architecture.

Frannyies··on What are dreams for?
In modern brain science another theory is that a dream is a type of replay of things the brain is busy with and allows for fine-tuning of it.

Like when you learn something and it's better the next day.

If it's just a brain region which has to be awake for the rem sleep to do what it does, it can also be a compensation mechanism.

I'm not following the idea that energy has to dissipate. The firing origin is not some electricity which needs to discharge,

Frannyies··on College students are struggling with basic math
Im really not sure how though.

I'm from German too. We use algebra as the generic term for math more or less.

I wouldn't have assumed algebra would only mean fields and rings.

The Wikipedia article algebra also links to algebra over a field.

Frannyies··on No way in or out of Burning Man after storm
Im curios If this leads long-term to a death of Summer Festivals.
Frannyies··on Electroculture Gardening
The website doesn't have proof.

The first question would therefore be 'were is the proof'

Frannyies··on Electroculture Gardening
It's not electricity or electric fields the plants react but chemicals.
Frannyies··on Tell HN: My bank just sent me brownies (and it's pretty f'd up)
At least in Germany I can imagine this information might be shared due to tax reason.

I would ask them

Frannyies··on Is the ChatGPT and Bing AI boom already over?
'delusions' and your first thing is second life?

GitHub copilot and sit.ilar will become defacto standard.

Image generation is already here.

School systems already have to act on this due to pupil using it for essays etc.

AI literally creates a new ara for us: it's the first time we structure or learn on data to have a knowledge agent.

Frannyies··on Electroculture Gardening
Doesn't make sense.

Your paper references a highly controlled field on a chip.

Those metal rods are plugged into earth. They don't do anything particular in regards of electronic fields.

Frannyies··on Declining fertility ideals? Young people more often prefer having no children
Im a nihilist and also see value in anti-natialism.
Frannyies··on Declining fertility ideals? Young people more often prefer having no children
You put it like it's not normal to not wanting kids.

I'm pretty sure a lot like and love their kids but I'm quite fine with not having to shift my life around kids.

We area much fuller planet than before. Everything is full.

We also have plenty of other things to occupy our time than kids and we can have sex without kids and stigma.

Frannyies··on Declining fertility ideals? Young people more often prefer having no children
We are not in a position were we have not enough people to solve any specific problem.

I don't get your logic.

Frannyies··on We put half a million files in one Git repository (2022)
Funny how the view is so different

I always marvel at it and think: "wow so git goes through its history, pulls out many small files and chunks and patches, updates the whole file tree and all of this after hitting enter and being done like immediately."
