GeoSys··on Show HN: Fungible – A local personal finance app in the terminal
Disclosure: I built something similar called HODLings.

Fungible's architecture (local data, no vendor cloud) is the right answer for the crypto ecosystem too (arguably even more so).

Which is why I built HODLings: manual holdings entry (no exchange keys, no wallet-address pasting), live prices from CoinGecko, allocation and history charts, multi-fiat display. Same minimal- tracker shape Fungible has, but scoped to crypto.

Main failure mode is forgetting to export the backup before a browser wipe. Set a calendar reminder.

HODLings PWA is freely available at https://hodlings.app

GeoSys··on Sam Altman's home targeted in second attack
Any word on the motivation of the attach? Any manifesto or a group taking responsibility?
GeoSys··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (April 2026)
I've been working on HODLings, a private crypto tracker, which doesn't track you!

https://www.geosystemsdev.com/products/hodlings/

In essence, it runs on your mobile device and stores all your data locally. It only connects to the freely available CoinGecko API (for latest prices) and GitHub (for reference and historical data). A background job updates GitHub ref data hourly. There's no login, no cloud, no ads, etc.

GeoSys··on Palantir CEO says AI 'will destroy' humanities jobs
Very positive outlook...

It may or it may not - time will tell. However, atm, I think they're competing for attention and investments, which is why they make such bomb she'll claims

GeoSys··on Lawyer behind AI psychosis cases warns of mass casualty risks
Yes, AI tools rarely push back and tend to agree with the human. So if the human is spitting racist/misogynistic/homophobic etc crap, they'll find in AI a friend to validate and encourage them ...
GeoSys··on New Chrome Extension lets you see what LLMs you can run on your hardware
Why does it need to be a Chrome extension?
GeoSys··on Avoid Concatenation in Log Statements
Yup - this advice has been around for 15 years, but ppl still do it. Checkstyle or a review agent can helpt catch it early on
GeoSys··on Show HN: I built an Open-source Dropbox/Google Drive BOYB(Bring your own bucket)

GeoSys··on Show HN: I made a YouTube search form with advanced filters
They want to push down you throat whatever their algo decides.

What sort of API do you use to search?

GeoSys··on Why AI lies, cheats and steals
Well, what would the ramification for AI misleading you? You can send it to prison or fine it?
GeoSys··on Hallucinated citations are polluting scientific literature. What can be done?
How about prohibiting them entirely ... as if they've plagiarized someone else's work (which they did)
GeoSys··on Proton Workspace: An encrypted suite for team collaboration
What's the best privacy first alternative to Proton?
GeoSys··on Ask HN: Not much interest in offline CPU LLMs that may kill SaaS?
I think there're a few problems, unfortunately:

- It wouldn't quite work on mobile devices. Many ppl wouldn't like to download 4GB on their iPhone; - Many use cases involve real-time data - e.g. summary of the latest news and events. That would require the LLM to be updated often and be able to perform actions like Google searches; - Switching devices will lose the history, created artefacts, etc.

While I think there're use cases, IMHO, they would be mostly for tech experts and not the wider audience.

GeoSys··on Amazon is adding a fuel surcharge to fees it collects from third-party sellers
I'm sure they'll pass it on to the end consumers - there goes the inflation bit by bit on every front ...
GeoSys··on Node.js Security Bug Bounty Program Paused Due to Loss of Funding
That's pretty bad ... So many Fortune 500 companies using Node couldn't fork some spare change to keep themselves (and us) safe ...
GeoSys··on How we caught the Axios supply chain attack
Thank you for your service!

Now this part is quite concerning though:

"I tried sending an email to security@npmjs and got a bounce back. Tried submitting to their security portal and got an error. I tweeted out in desperation to get a hold of a human."

GeoSys··on Email obfuscation: What works in 2026?
I agree that email addresses get leaked eventually.

However, LLMs are quite good at generating spam and I think soon will evade most filters.

GeoSys··on I built a programming language on the top of Node.js
What's your motivation to build it on top of Node JS?

I'd buy some stock if I had money... Seems oversold. Software sector seems oversold. Would you buy from a vibe coded Amazon without any infrastructure and support? Most of them will bounce back ... Some won't
