Mr_Ed··on The metrics behind Spotify’s IPO
Hi, author here!

Thanks for the correction on this -- I'll update the article with correct info. I'm not a Prime subscriber and the information on Prime benefits are completely intransparent.

And if I can't easily figure that out, it's unlikely that average consumer Joe will. The perceived value of each offering is the point here.

Mr_Ed··on Show HN: Revenue Forecasting for SaaS Apps
Yep, forecasting in ChartMogul is coming.

Mr_Ed··on iPhone X – Not Yet
I had a similar problem after installing iOS 11 on my iPhone (7 Plus). The battery life was so bad, I was having to charge multiple times per day.

I installed the public beta of 11.1 out of frustration, and I'm pleased to say it's fixed the problem. At this point I feel like the battery life is back to "normal" (iOS 10 levels).

Mr_Ed··on Show HN: Berlin Startup Radio
Hey folks,

I'm really excited to have just launched the first episode of my bi-weekly podcast focused on the startup scene here in Berlin - I have some really interesting founders and other people doing great things here lined up to join in future episodes.

If you'd like to get involved - and you have something interesting to show, or discuss - then get in touch! I'd love to come and chat :)

Mr_Ed··on Facebook Messenger, SMS and iMessage
People (in the UK at least) have grown so 'comfortable' with using SMS - I'll admit to it myself, I could easily fire up the Facebook and send a message to any one of my friends, all of whom have smartphones and would undoubtedly receive the message within a minute of it being sent. However, for whatever reason, I'll still just send an SMS.

Apple have realised that the only way of replacing this (and eventually killing SMS) is to provide a messaging service which is inherently invisible or 'passive' from a UX point of view. Yes, it is tied into iOS, but the critical thing to consider is that users are required to put in zero effort to send an iMessage.

With this in mind, I don't see how Facebook Messenger is any different to the likes of [insert free web messaging service here], admittedly with a lot more users.
