Even after doing the "type this to fix weird console ouput" I still have weird console output :(

ProNihiliston The PC is not dead, we just don't need new ones

This is why I still use Winamp, nothing else comes close to dealing with playlists of thousands of items while also being fairly customisable.

ProNihiliston Microsoft Surface Pro 2

ConEmu is probably the best terminal for Windows at the moment, but it takes some customization to get there, and it has some strange concepts.

ProNihiliston FreeBSD expands activities as funds flow in

I'm not sure what the challenges involved are since I'm just a .NET guy who uses a debian home server, but I would switch to FreeBSD instantly if I could get utf-8 support in my irssi.

ProNihiliston Poll: Best RSS reader

You saw plain XML because Chrome doesn't support RSS without a plugin.

ProNihiliston Spoiler Alert – JQuery plugin for sensitive content

Does not work on Opera 12.14 (thank you for trying to be accommodating though <3)

ProNihiliston Airport Security Is Killing Us

I'm a 6' male with a beard, used to have long hair too.

I always got selected for "randomized" searches when flying (in the UK). At UK airports everyone goes through a metal detector. It would always beep when I went through even if I took off my shoes and belt.

ProNihiliston Why I use Windows 8

You can already increase the width of the console, you just need to use Properties menu.

ProNihiliston Dear ICO, Sue Us

No, from my reading of the guidelines I took that any form of persistent browser storage falls under them.

I'm not a lawyer though, just a British web developer who has had to comply with this law.

ProNihiliston Gitit is a wiki backed by a git, darcs, or mercurial filestore.

I'm fairly certain I was able to just 'aptitude install gitit' on debian stable, edit the config file and 'gitit -f gitit.conf' to be up and running.

I've used gitit a fair bit for some personal things and I'm very impressed. Unlike doku-wiki it was still lightning fast when running off of an old EeePC 700 (630Mhz Celeron).

ProNihiliston Windows 8 to feature stripped-down kernel, built-in virtualization

Before Vista came out I managed to cut down an XP image to ~200MB in ISO form and less than 300MB on a "fresh" install on real hardware ("fresh" because it was Service Pack 3+ slipstreamed into the install ISO).

That was basically the bare minimum needed to run the OS on my laptop with wifi and sound.

Put something similar on my EeePC 701 when I got it, having a 6/7 second boot time on Windows was quite nice;
