So now it is worse.
NULL = Undefined or No Data. Whereas a blank field can, in and of itself, be data. It may indicated something is intentionally left blank.
But for those times where you want to consider them the same, it would be nice to have a setting.
(Note that I admit the possibility that this may exist already, like most my great ideas.)
But when you scrape it my load goes up dramatically. A load I have to pay for.
It is analogous to the privacy debates going on with one said saying "hey, don't track everywhere I go and tag me with facial recognition" and the other side saying "hey, you are in public and people can see you." The issue is not complete privacy, but one of scale. And of intent.
I believe society is soon going to have to come to grips with the scale of things and legislate what are acceptable scales of action as it seems to be becoming a large issue in a growing number are areas.
If you just mean a successful career that takes care of your needs and much of your wants, provides for a comfortable life and a family, I would argue motivation, dedication and skill play far larger roles.
In fact I would say extreme success requires some extreme good luck, whereas a more "standard" success requires good luck less and is more about not having bad luck to counter your abilities.
I tend to put a link to the external system with a very brief explanation, allowing someone to quickly assess the what and why with the ability to dig elsewhere for more detail.
One could argue they have always been an answer engine and they are just getting more direct and precise.
Not really surprising when you look at how much non-monetary development goes into the open source community.
- My android displays the time and temp when docked. I never found a way to do that on iPhone.
- My android shows that I have texts/mails/etc. waiting without me having to touch it or pick it up to see.
- My android has a back button. It is always there and always in the same place.
- Widgets are nice (and mentioned elsewhere) but I love that my phonetop is not cluttered with icons, just useful info.
Usability wise apple is stuck in their own version of 10 years ago. Android is the better choice of the two. But I still weep for the loss of live tiles and the app menu.
Unless you are making a health related argument. That is a different right other than you don't want it, that is a health concern, which is why smoking inside is predominately not allowed.
I'm all for personal rights... but they come with personal responsibilities that are upon you.
YMMV depending upon region and company.
I work in the student loan industry and there are loans specifically for single mother's... father's need not apply. It bothers me every time I see it.
Heck, why my daughter registered an American Girl doll, they sent me an "id card" declaring me the proud mother of my daughter and her doll. So I guess I should be happy to be a mom.
I have learned that my code of ethics are just not the same as a number of business persons'. This may explain, in part, why I have two failed businesses.
However, if this:
> I can't stand to report to him
remains true... the only solution in the end that will leave you with day-to-day satisfaction is to leave the situation. It sounds like you are aware of this.
Life is not always fair but in general it is consistent.
Ultimately I view it like I did music... give me a reasonable way to access and pay and I'll do so. And when iTunes came out I deleted my 10 gigs of mp3's and paid for music. I'll do the same when the media company come to their senses and respect the cost of scale they now have. I can live with that.
