Toritori12··on Cloudflare to introduce pay-per-crawl for AI bots
Overall I agree with the idea, but prob will be cheaper to bypass CF considering the amount of data that big techs are consuming (also Google with get it for free because Google Search?). If successful, I wonder how agents will transfer this cost to the user.
Toritori12··on Microsoft is moving antivirus providers out of the Windows kernel
I wonder how long until those anti-cheats start fighting and false?-positiving each other due on how they operate.
Toritori12··on Thousands in Norway told they had won life-changing sums in lottery error
Also many life-changing amounts in the same batch should prob trigger some alarms.
Toritori12··on More on Apple's Trust-Eroding 'F1 the Movie' Wallet Ad
As shitty as it is, Chromeos doesnt seem to have a lot bloatware to me.
Toritori12··on Writing toy software is a joy
tbf, Google has pretty the monopoly on search engines, the rest is way behind (even after enshitification). LLMs seems to be a more competitive space.
Toritori12··on Gemini Robotics On-Device brings AI to local robotic devices
Does Anyone know how easy is to join the "trusted tester program" and if they offer modules that you can easily plug-in to run the sdk?
Toritori12··on Rocknix is an immutable Linux distribution for handheld gaming devices
I don't they will dare tbh. I would expect Big Techs to show how dwarf Nintendo is if do an attempt. Big distros do a lot of free work for them.

Ironically enough, maybe the reason why Nintendo is so litigious is because the OG Big Tech (IBM) hit Japan really hard with lawsuits in the early days of the industry.

Toritori12··on Unexpected security footguns in Go's parsers
huh? does Java even support marshall/unmarshall json in the 'bare' language?
Toritori12··on YouTube's new anti-adblock measures
I've never said they should, they are free to implement any anti-ad-block for all I care. I just pointed out their lack of honesty about the source of the problem, they should say they are actively blocking the extension rather than the extension is malfunctioning.
Toritori12··on YouTube's new anti-adblock measures
Out of curiosity I clicked the link and it is funny how they try to blame the extension when is them actually causing the problem.
Toritori12··on Asterinas: A new Linux-compatible kernel project
What should be the name for these kind of things? *nux?
Toritori12··on Show HN: A DOS-like hobby OS written in Rust and x86 assembly
Good job OP, what a missed opportunity to say: "just a hobby, won't be big and professional like Linux" (:
Toritori12··on Learn Makefiles
I am just happy with xmake for my small personal project (about 1-2K LOC). Really glad I migrated away from cmake.
Toritori12··on I've almost completely switched from "Python" to "uv run"
welp, nice simple solution lol, thanks!
Toritori12··on ChatGPT is my static site generator
iirc they generated really bad and unmaintainable code (no css classes, absolute position, etc...), unlike (imo) modern LLMs.
Toritori12··on I've almost completely switched from "Python" to "uv run"
I wish there was a way to force all deps to create folders in the same directory by default. Tired of seeing how many libraries feel entitled to write on your Home (which I like to have in a small partition and those big GB-sized files are not expected).
Toritori12··on Selfish reasons for building accessible UIs
I dont remember last time (if ever?) I saw a native date input in the wild.
Toritori12··on Mistral Code
Are you sure what are you saying? The VSCode extension link [0] also redirect to the enterprise version, with no other option being available.

Toritori12··on When the sun dies, could life survive on the Jupiter ocean moon Europa?
Thanks for the explanation ^ ^, kinda understood it with my basic knowledge of physics.
Toritori12··on When the sun dies, could life survive on the Jupiter ocean moon Europa?
I read somewhere that apparently a planet (I think either Saturn or Jupiter) can generate energy when gets smaller.
Toritori12··on Root shell on a credit card terminal
I thought most POS devices stop accepting "offline" payments.
Toritori12··on Web dev is still fun if you want it to be
React is pretty barebones, they keep adding stuff because how ugly the original one looks like and how outdated feels like compared to "modern" ones like Vue, Svelte, etc...
Toritori12··on C++ to Rust Phrasebook
Same here, those "mini" delays are not worth.
Toritori12··on Web dev is still fun if you want it to be
Big part of why FE system are so complex now is because we moved a lot from BE to FE, especially state management. I dont think it is possible to get back to session cookies and keep the "infinite" horizontal scaling that modern BE have.
Toritori12··on Cerebras achieves 2,500T/s on Llama 4 Maverick (400B)
I feel a lot companies do it to reduce liability. It may not be more secure, but it is not their problem.
Toritori12··on C++ to Rust Phrasebook
C++ modules still not supported on VSCode, always pissed when I get notifications from this 5 y.o. thread [0].

Toritori12··on Postgres IDE in VS Code
I wont likely find the video but I remember watching the PM for both VSCode and VS (at the time was the same one, not sure now) recommending people to move to Visual Studio "eventually". I clearly remember it because it didn't make any sense, even if the names were similar there were/are nothing alike UI-wise and supported-language-wise. I said few years ago but it was prob around 8 years ago, vsc was still pretty young.
Toritori12··on Realtek's $10 tiny 10GbE NIC will hit motherboards soon
I tried last year but was a bit scared on how many switchs/NICs/cables are vendor-specific.
Toritori12··on Realtek's $10 tiny 10GbE NIC will hit motherboards soon
I bought a 10/5/2.5/1 gbps MikroTik CRS304-4XG-IN switch relative cheap recently, quite happy with it.
