Hopefully the suite will not be abandoned in one month, and it'll become actually production-ready one day. Although this seems like slop for now (at least it's rust, not electron), enough contributions may (hopefully) make it worth something.
As a polyamorous person, it seems quite concerning that effective altruism people are labeled as members of a sex cult, due to their private lives. Intellectuals should be attacked on the basis of their ideas, not based on their private lives.
I really hope ChatGPT doesn't follow suit. Chat and Work serve 2 distinct tasks, and unifying Chat and Codex limits will cause the users to avoid using Chat in order to save the tokens for Codex.
AI-related news are very much relevant nowadays, so limiting them would be excessive. But introducing tags to make it possible to filter out specific topics seems like a good idea.
> For racists to find other racists and amplify their unsavoury views. For paedophiles for groom children with anonymity.
Sounds like yet another call for government overreach to amplify mass censorship even more (which is also used against things like abortion information), and ban anonymity to "protect the children".
I've considered Garmin for Garmin pay, but seems like it supports much less banks, and I didn't want to gamble with checking for myself if it'd work with virtual crypto cards. Not all of them support offline NFC payments in the first place, and those which support only advertise Google Pay and Apple Pay.
As a GrapheneOS user, I've had to buy pixel watch 2 in order to be able to pay via Google Pay abroad (since I unfortunately happen to reside in an internationally sanctioned country, local cards work only inside the country, some crypto exchanges provide Visa/Mastercard cards, but virtual only, so Google/Apple pay is the only choice). I really wish I haven't had to own this android-certified™ device in the first place. Have had to disable as much GMS system permissions as possible, such as pulse, GPS, physical activity via ADB.
P. S. Since it's not even possible to add a new card if the watch is paired to a device that doesn't pass SafetyNet, I've had to add cards with a stock android device, and then re-pair the watch to GrapheneOS device. This almost seems like a deliberate choice by Google.
At this point, GrapheneOS must introduce a feature to delete only specific data (apps & files) when the decoy password is entered, and then unlock the phone.
If Codeberg becomes a place where you cannot just host any of your projects without caring about its politics like you can host on GitHub, GitHub monopoly will continue. This is very unfortunate, and despite I prefer Forgejo web UI to GitHub's web UI, I'll have to stay off codeberg out of concerns they'll wipe my repos in case, for example, they decide any LLM-assisted code is suddenly disallowed on the platform.
This guy vibecodes his whole stack, from X server, WM, terminal emulator, to shell and text editor. It would've been weird not to have an AI-generated image in an article =)
This person's idea is that if LLMs can create personalized and efficient software on the fly, it's good enough to use such software instead of more bloated, existing software which has to accommodate for usecases outside of his.
Sortof like suckless.org, but vibecoded on the fly.
I've found his Rust android development framework quite interesting, and will probably try using that to vibecode some software I've always wanted to have for my own personal use, but I've never had the time to code properly, especially considering it won't be useful for anyone else. Of course, I'll probably release it under a FOSS license, in case somebody finds it useful anyways.
If a harness wants to upload the whole codebase in one batch, it should explicitly inform the user about it. Instead of exfiltrating the data without consent.
Trying to prevent this will cause the same outcome as trying to prevent terrorists from using search engines: it'll only disproportionately harm regular users. Imagine if current AI misuse paranoia would've been applied to search engines, internet libraries (knowledge is useful for planning acts of terrorism), and computing in general.
A lot of lost media used to be considered garbage before it has gotten completely lost. Culture is always worth preserving, at least for historic purposes.
Anthropic does their best with banning accounts. As the result, shady API reselling market emerges. OpenAI on the other hand doesn't really discriminate based on a country like that (but a VPN is required nevertheless).
