I can't say exactly why. Maybe you feel like you haven't earned it. Maybe it's the idle nature of farming that we really enjoy...
None of our businesses sell software and none have any full time engineering support. That said, there are lots of little tools that have been custom built to enable the businesses to scale. It's not enough to support full time roles, so I go to part time contractors when I need it.
Weirdly, I struggle to find part-timers with availability! Where have you been looking? I'll make sure I start posting in those places.
Maybe Cloudinary is more expensive (though not by a lot for our use case) but I can say that nobody has had to log in or think about it for months. The thing just works.
Most of the CF add-on services seem to be hobby-quality. We used to use their video stream/encoding service too but have since switched to another more robust platform.
It's a really easy to set up app!
I guess I'll have to start growing it myself...
If you're not taking it in supplement quantities, then I'm not sure I'd be tremendously worried about any other contamination...
"What would get you to a 10" is as very constructive way to think about it as well. It's not just complaining, it's articulating what you'd like to change.
Once teams get used to this, it comes part of the vernacular, "I'm only 6/10 on this idea". The follow up is always, "What would get you to a 10"
You can do this at work, for a local non profit, for your friend's weird startup idea, ...
You say if we ban one substance, they'll just come out with a less tested, less understood, and likely worse new one. I probably agree with this!
Then you say we have to just take it away, like a kid who is being irresponsible with a ball. I understand this means you think we should ban the materials.

If we ban these substances, won't research just pour all the more heavily into the new ones, causing the 1st scenario you mentioned? Are you suggesting we ban research into _any_ new materials whatsoever?
It seems like a device capable of acting as a host & device could just try to shove data down a cable and see what the max is...
Opinion: People seem outraged at this with electronics but not the other products. This confuses me greatly.
You can submit a claim which the seller responds to. If the seller doesn't respond fast enough, AE steps in and suggests a couple resolutions (usually something like a partial refund with no product return, or a full refund if you send the product back). You can then negotiate or just accept one of the suggestions. Absolutely 0 hassle or talking to a person. You click a few buttons and get your money back.
Most businesses already have some form of insurance covering their liability in these situations and those will just price in whatever fines might need to be paid.
In our case, YC was super valuable. We've never been more focused than when going through the program. They make available so many resources you're desperate to grow and try things so you can get as much as possible out of the program.
Even though it has been a while since we were in the bay area for the program, we are still seeing many benefits by the huge and growing network of YC companies.
I can't speak for our co-founders but if we could go back in time, we would absolutely take part in the program again.
If anyone else is planning on checking it out, make sure to set your speakers or headphones to the lowest volume possible first to avoid destroying your speakers and ears.
I have strong ties to the country and I think early education is extremely important to a nation that needs to build itself up.
