accounthere··on WordPress is now 13 years old
Yet the Panama Papers thing happened.
accounthere··on WordPress is now 13 years old
At this point I don't think Wordpress is going to change their codebase into something more modern and secure. Is there any other easy to use blogging platform like it? PHP based because PHP is everywhere, based on a modern framework (symfony2, laravel, etc), jinja-like template system, support for databases other than mysql?
accounthere··on Upcoming changes in PHP 7.1
I was wondering if that site was some sort of aggregator and amazed that it would carry over the code examples so well from the actual article. This explains so much.
accounthere··on There’s Nothing Magical About Breakfast
Yes. And like the french word it literally means to stop fasting.
accounthere··on High CPU use by taskhost.exe when Windows 8.1 user name contains “user”
Patient: "It hurts when I touch my abdomen"

Doctor: "Solution: stop touching your abdomen"

accounthere··on Advanced Ping: httping, dnsping, smtpping
I thought it came from ping pong. As in you send a "ping" and it responds with a "pong".
accounthere··on Why Aging Isn’t Inevitable
I think it's fine if some people get to live as long as they want. Not all of us desire it and not all of us would make good use of it. The people that do it can then decide to stop whatever is helping them stay alive when they no longer want to. I see no downsides to this.

You might need different node/postgres versions for different projects.
accounthere··on Messenger-Bot: A Node Client for the Facebook Messenger Platform
How likely is facebook to block it?
accounthere··on Ask HN: SEO impact of HN's URL “itemid” vs. an actual title?
HN could simply add a '&title='. No need to change anything in their routes, just change the link in the main page.

accounthere··on Ask HN: SEO impact of HN's URL “itemid” vs. an actual title?
I don't think search engines are the main source of readers for HN.
accounthere··on Opera browser built-in ad blocking, now in beta
> This doesn't solve the whole "I don't want people tracking me" thing. I'm not really sure how to solve that.

Maybe loading those whitelisted ad domains through Tor?

accounthere··on Randomly-generated passwords still have to be legal strings
It has happened to me that a registration form would not allow characters like '<' which any keyboard will most likely have, while it allowed unicode characters like (ಠ_ಠ)
accounthere··on My next chapter
Apparently going to be Product manager on Photos according to some Anonymous Googler.
accounthere··on The Utah Teapot: Most Important Object in Computer Graphics History
That's just some ancient book saying it.
accounthere··on Firefox for iOS now available
Desktop Firefox has had extensions for years and I've never seen it become malware.
accounthere··on I'm Google – chains of visually similar images and videos in Google (2011)
My guess is the shortest would usually be the very next one since Google Image is good at finding the same image file in different websites. There would have to be a constrain for how close to the last image the next one is or you'd end up in a one image loop.
accounthere··on I'm Google – chains of visually similar images and videos in Google (2011)
It would be nice if you could change the seed image. Someone needs to automate this.
accounthere··on Launching NginScript
I for one like seeing Javascript replaced by better Javascript.
accounthere··on Mad Map: Python Road

    map(lambda x: x, ['a', 'b', 'c'], [1, 2])
This should be

     map(lambda x, y: (x, y), ['a', 'b', 'c'], [1, 2])
If you want the same behavior as passing None as the first argument.

accounthere··on Meteor Raises $20M
It's more of a development default.
accounthere··on What Happens When You Install the Top Download.com Apps
With so many Windows users and developers how come there is nothing like Debian's apt? With zip-like packages instead of executable files, signed by the maintainers and with a uniform installation ui. The closest thing I know is Chocolatey and it doesn't even comes close.

Even if only open source applications used it, it would be so useful.

accounthere··on I’m Terrified of My New TV
FBI van with free wifi goes through your neighborhood, the TV happily auto-connects to it and dumps all its data.

How can we make the wifi module inside the TV unusable?

accounthere··on Lawrence Lessig Interviews Edward Snowden [video]
Why is he using Google Hangouts? That sounds like trouble.
