arthtyagi··on Ask HN: How correct are geohot's opinions on CRUD developers?
Yeah that's definitely true. No one just makes CRUD apps.
arthtyagi··on Ask HN: How do you find new music?
Apple Music works well plus I made my own app for finding new music https://arthtyagi.me/newmusic
arthtyagi··on Ask HN: How correct are geohot's opinions on CRUD developers?
Another thing though, web apps are not all interactive React now. That's falsified information. There are multiple cases where webapps aren't even backed by React.

Webapps are still being built in CRUD frameworks.

arthtyagi··on Ask HN: How correct are geohot's opinions on CRUD developers?
That would actually be a pretty fun project to build, AI generated CSS, HTML and MVC.

What he meant by CRUD devs was, developers whose job is just to build stuff like, a contact information page, or basically anything that does CRUD operations. He for some reason considers only `input->compute->output` as the correct paradigm which also aligns with his jalbreaking stuff and what he's doing at comma.ai now.

arthtyagi··on Ask HN: How correct are geohot's opinions on CRUD developers?
He's a developer who's been around for a while and has done some particularly great things so far. There has to probably be some weight in what he says.
arthtyagi··on Show HN: Made my first Psychedelic Trance beat
I made my first Psychedelic trance beat just using Logic Pro, that's it. No external devices used.
arthtyagi··on Pay attention to the Indian startup scene
And how would you come to that conclusion?

By your logic, no place has an understanding of life.

arthtyagi··on Pay attention to the Indian startup scene
You make an interesting point. However, India and Nigeria are starkly different, just food for thought. It's almost like comparing U.S with South Africa.
arthtyagi··on Pay attention to the Indian startup scene
The submission is in fact a duplicate, check the source I added. You could just acknowledge it at the very least or ignore it but downvoting for no apparent reason isn't the best way.

arthtyagi··on Pay attention to the Indian startup scene
True but not sure if you considered Power Purchasing Parity of Indians. India is able to manufacture most of the stuff for itself at the moment and hence everything is cheap in India. From basic things like soda cans that cost 10x less in India than the US to the same online services that also cost 10x less.

The GDP per capita might be less in terms of the US standards but the Power Purchasing Parity makes up for it plus we can't forget that the nominal GDP is still in Top 3/Top 5 in the world ( depends on what source you look at ).

arthtyagi··on Pay attention to the Indian startup scene
I'd have to disagree. Only partly though. You mentioned a well established phenomenon, brain drain and it's true that the Indian talent gravitates towards the Silicon Valley or for the most part at least tries to but this is the point of the article as well, this phenomenon is slowing down a bit, not as much Indians gravitate with their startups to the US as they did say, a decade ago.

This shows progress and this is what the whole point is, progress.

With the extreme H1B conditions at the moment, it's unlikely people will take extra steps to just get to the US when they can try setting it up in India.

arthtyagi··on You have to pay attention to the Indian startup scene
Might be a bit true but China still gets a lot of coverage. Imo, anything that's on the Indian, Chinese, American or EU startup scene gets a lot of coverage these days.
arthtyagi··on You have to pay attention to the Indian startup scene
It seems so. India didn't get quite as much coverage as it is getting now for some reason. And strangely enough, India is being mentioned in the news more often than before for the same things it had been doing before ( on a greater extent now though but the nature of those activities is pretty much the same ).
arthtyagi··on Ask HN: Why isn’t finance a part of the core curriculum at schools?
There are a lot of underlying components to this question as with anything that's ever existed or will exist.

arthtyagi··on Ask HN: How does Hacker News work?
Yeah so basically : - ASK HN : To Ask HN something. Make sure it's a legitimate question and re-read it to yourself to make sure it makes sense. It's not for asking questions like "How to do a binary search?", that belongs elsewhere.

- SHOW HN : To show HN something that you built ( or someone else did ) and receive feedback on it. Don't spam the same thing over and over, your account might get marked as spam, I learnt it the hard way.

- LAUNCH HN : It's for YC startups when they launch.

Apart from this, you should feel free to post anything new and interesting that you find on the internet. Primarily tech-related but not necessarily. Anything that helps quench curiosity and isn't spammy works.

arthtyagi··on FreeYourMusic lets users migrate their playlists off Spotify
https://soundiiz.com/pricing This gives you exactly what they claim to work on without charging half as much. Basically, it's free if all you wanna do is transfer music.
arthtyagi··on Show HN: Low-Level Academy, an explorable systems programming course
Somewhat related but not exactly related to Low-Level Academy, you might be interested in "Nand2Tetris" if you're interested in studying low level concepts for education purposes.
arthtyagi··on Show HN: I built a gamified forum to help hackers fund each other
It seems so. Think about Theranos, would've been a breeding ground for that imo. There are many other startups who can leverage this and basically defeat the purpose of this idea. The idea is good actually though if you use it the right way but then again that stands true for most ideas that became bad, Chatroulette for example.
arthtyagi··on Ask HN: Google just kicked me out of my account, no option to verify
Well that's what I had to do. Got my spare phone while my primary phone was still out for repair.
arthtyagi··on Ask HN: Google just kicked me out of my account, no option to verify
Unfortunately, GSuite seems to be the way for it. I already have my company mail at GSuite so I've got lots of storage but well I think I should start looking into other options as well. Maybe Zoho Mail for emails and Mega.nz for cloud storage. But guess we'll see about that given Google does provide extensive support for GSuite so it shouldn't be as big of a problem as it is for the normal accounts. Most of all, for my personal account which is the one normally signed in everywhere, I'm switching it totally to iCloud with some parts still on Google however none of them being the ones I'm too reliant on.
arthtyagi··on Ask HN: Google just kicked me out of my account, no option to verify
I have actually, but for some reason Google kept asking for my phone number on the device from which the problem originated in the first place. I got a spare phone lying around and turned phone verification on from there to be able to login to my other devices. It's simply not safe to be using a Google Account without a mobile device by this logic. I have in turn decided to move away from Google, my Drive is now like 100 mb used cause of GMail which I have now forwarded to iCloud and am also just slowly changing my email everywhere I had signed up to my company mail or my personal iCloud mail. Relying totally on Google was the worst decision ever I suppose.
arthtyagi··on Ask HN: Google just kicked me out of my account, no option to verify
well that's the thing, Google isn't even asking for the verification code anymore. Somehow I'm still logged in on my other device, I'll use that as a sign of luck and migrate all of my data to a new account while I can. Will also try to rely less on Google for instance. Would also need to start receiving mails from my old email address. The worst part though, the moment I logged in with my new account to my old Macbook Pro, it treated it perfectly fine and rather said that my other device (the new Macbook Pro from which I was locked out in the first place) is suspicious or something without any rhyme or reason. I've checked all of my apps, extensions and everything, it's all legit. Guess Google simply sucks since it doesn't even provide customer support in this matter.
arthtyagi··on Killed by Google
The panic isn't unprecedented imo, Google should at least provide more updates on it.
arthtyagi··on Killed by Google
I agree with some of what you're saying but Hangouts didn't JUST get rebranded. Meet was introduced while Hangouts was still alive.
arthtyagi··on Social Cooling (2017)
This is actually one of the few issues with this site. However, it's a major one.
arthtyagi··on Social Cooling (2017)
This is legitimately scary to look at.
arthtyagi··on Ask HN: Feedback from anyone who finished Nand2Tetris
I'm personally particularly excited by the fact that it allows students to build a basic computer system from ground up. Most students with regular CS curricula knowledge won't be able to do that.
arthtyagi··on Postmortem – why Allegro went down (2018)
Yeah, I was assuming it was recent but then it turned out to be more than two years old.
arthtyagi··on Ask HN: Feedback from anyone who finished Nand2Tetris
That's good enough for me, I've just started it and the way CS is taught in my high school is extremely generic and boring so yeah, for me it's good so far except for the initial part, they do get to extreme basics I suppose.
