Your best bet if probably some retro EV resto mod
If they put in TOS that they can brick the car fully if you insult Elon, does it make it right? Tomorrow your car just stops driving, because you over speed for example? Hell no
Just posting to spread awareness. You may say what I did was wrong or not, but that is not the core of the issue here.
The thing I want to spread is that: according to Tesla you do not own your car. You could have purchased heated seats via mobile app (called Winter Package) and later have it remotely removed by Tesla cloud config update.
Currently almost all features in the car are software controlled. Technically Tesla can, and now showed they have the will, to disable part of your cars one by one if they do not like what you did with it.
It's like AUDI not liking your custom exhaust or ECU, and then disabling your heated seats and cruise control.
Mind you there was no modifications to the car hardware or software. It's like if Apple would disable your cameras because they did not like type of USB-C pendrive you plugged in the phone.
I will be looking now deeply into jailbreaking car properly because this thing is just too scary. Next time they just remove my keycard and app access so no one can drive my car "for greater good"?
Not sure what to think about your comment about too much SEO. We need to get customers, we need to pay the bills. We literally took the idea from Zapier and other websites (YC company, that's one of their hero story how they grew). If you google for I want to move from X to Y, well then you have a dedicated landing page. What's so wrong about it? Some people move from Yandex to Amazon, some other would prefer to have a page of how to move to Tidal.
Yes, it's automated because we are team of 3 developers for now and we are automating whatever we can.
I do not like this part of website too much, but I do not like dark SEO even more, so hiding this links for people and making it visible to Google is worse.
What would you prefer we do in this case to make it better?
That’s the first time this is an issue after 4 years being on the Play Store and immediately they remove the whole app.
We are not looking into going to different space right now as it's never as easy as replacing some core components, but thanks for the idea :)
If this sounds interesting feel free to ping me at twitter @bartosz
We are still operational and have Spotify export working. If they won't let you through doors, we get in via window. ️
We do not expect any platforms to be limited on FYM.FM in near future.
1) We started with Braintree. We had to implement their SDK, and then we were charging PayPal and Credit Cards. Each transaction had to be accounted by us, we had to specify how much VAT. In Europe it's tricky because you have to charge VAT-MOSS based on which country customer is from (eg. 20% for UK, 23% for Poland). So accounting was a nightmare. 2) Then we switched to Stripe (new sdk to implement) and PayPal separatelly (another integration to support). Same crap as with Braintree. We only switched because Braintree kicked us out. A lot of developer work wasted to support paypal separatelly etc. Even more work for fixing PayPal's constant CSV changes and API changes to integrate with accounting. Then there was still some issue which I had to manually fix in accounting. Again: nightmare.
3) Then comes our saviour Paddle. One SDK to implement (so like implementing only Stripe) but you get all different features, like nationalized prices, one big invoice at the end of the month with VAT calculated by them, abandon baskets recovery etc and much more.
5% but hours saved in productivity and accouning. It was and still is worth it and I don't want to ever switch back.
Thanks to Paddle for keeping my mind sane :)
PS. If anyone is interested we use it at FreeYourMusic.com
Apple Music has official SDK for both web and mobile. (even on Android)
Google Play Music is same case now as Spotify. We mimic their web API, but it's far from perfect as you need to use "app password" for login.
Once we would need to use GDPR law to be able to export the data, then we would rather find a hacky way and pretent do be a user browsing their webpage. Just to offer best user experience for our customers.
We make money from user playlists data (which we believe should belong to user) and I don't treat our usecase as integrating with others, as we do it in 3 steps: download from Spotify, then import to somewhere else.
It was all fine for 2 year, but after IPO they changed their TOS for Developers.
There was either making our service less attractive or removing Spotify all together, so we had no choice. Don't really care about stock price ;), just want to keep the project going and allow others to be able to migrate between different services.
I like that with email on your own domain you can easily switch providers (which I recently did with google to protonmail). But there are many other solutions which are not so easy to switch which halts competition.
How am I hypocritical? I am just in favour of not locking in users, and we do not lock in users.
Spotify wants Apple to not change TOS to their favour while doing exactly the same.

Bit of a history now, but it was just an applescript that used CSV to click through iTunes.
I do not have time and resources to set up new website like Spotify did.
Today when I saw Spotify asking Apple about being fair, I immediatelly though about our case from few months ago.
It's not like they did not implement something, they deliberatelly changed TOS for Developers and send email to us that we have to stop using their SDK which was ok to use just before IPO...
So they did exactly what they accuse Apple of doing: bending TOS to company's benefit.
Spotify is being hypocritical af :(.
Our users experience degradated a lot and every few weeks our hacks stop working and we need to update user agents we use to simulate browser. Spotify is actively trying to bring us down.
Spotify is not the angel here, as it's using same tricks to block free choice and lock in users heavily.
There would be completly different response if Apple (or anyone) would open "Camp for Men only".
We have started building a tool to convert classic boarding passes into native iOS PassBooks (the ones appearing in the Wallet app).
Our mission is to simplify flying: booking tickets should be as simple as ordering an Uber and the boarding process needs to be simplified.
We have decided to release it for free also for non-Ahoy flyers, precisely in order to simplify flying for as many people as possible.
