This referring to cyber? Bio?

beambot··on HackerTube: YouTube built from videos recommended by HN
YouTube mobile app has a "your custom feed" where you supply English language prompts and get a relevant custom feed. My go-to has been "new and unseen science & technology videos predominantly from people I follow but occasionally interspersed with others' you think I might like in a similar vein"

Terrorism is in the eye of the beholder -- usually the aggrieved party. Hence the saying, "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter"

Humans are "artificial artificial intelligence."
beambot··on Why Micron Is Suddenly Ditching 4F² DRAM as Rivals Double Down
> They have to explain what they are doing.

They really don't. A public company doesn't even have to provide forward-looking earnings guidance, though many choose to do so for strategic reasons. The only reason to make announcements is if there's some strategic benefit to doing so.

beambot··on Academics have a duty to defend open knowledge systems like Wikipedia
Great, then AI companies should divert 5% of revenue to sustain Wikipedia and researchers...
beambot··on Florida's HOAs and condo associations are making the housing crisis worse
The microcosm of subdivision-level governance where Karens/Kens with too much free time relish in power-tripping over their neighbors... All things equal, I'll take state, county, or city government over HOAs.

beambot··on Deloitte falsified documents to evade tax on Abramovich's wealth
Deloitte operates much more like a franchise network than a single multinational corporation. It's technically a network of independent, locally owned professional-services partnerships.

This one appears to be Cyprus - clearly the center of ethical business operations...

beambot··on YouTuber Says Cops Visited Him After He Built a Flock-Style Camera to Track Cops
Seems to be a huge loop-hole: It doesn't seem to prohibit a private company from operating a ALPR system...?
beambot··on US confirms for first time it has deployed space weapons
The blast radius from a maritime collission is (mostly) relegated to the vehicles in question [1]. The same is not true for satellite collisions.

[1] There are counterexamples, like in narrow chokes & whatnot.

beambot··on LG denies TV spying claims, says tracking and snooping concerns 'not true'

beambot··on A misalignment of AI in mathematics
Humans still have brains (and thus human intellect) even in the presence of AI... Even today, people make varying use of their brains.

beambot··on AI boosted homework scores, then exam scores dropped: study
"Does it?" - Yes? Did you learn arithmetic with log & exponent tables, or just calculators?
beambot··on I were 17, I'd learn how to build LLMs from scratch
Y'all are missing the point: It's probably less than 100 hours to learn the foundations of one of humanity's most-current breakthroughs. It's a disservice to any young hacker to not learn it. Here's your curriculum. Watch these:

-- 3Blue 1Brown's Neural Network Series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZHQObOWTQDNU6R1_6700...

-- Karpathy on LLMs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xTGNNLPyMI

-- Stanford CS336: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuoVZkPBiKk

Then do this hands-on:

beambot··on AI boosted homework scores, then exam scores dropped: study
Maybe. As the nature of assistive tools changes, so does pedagogy. Calculators are the easy example since most of us are (still) familiar. But there are others that were just as pronounced -- e.g. log tables and slide rules were transformational and instrumental at one time, and you've (probably) never used them. If you had used slide rules to solve your homework problems then were excluded from using them on exams, you'd see a similar effect.

AI is a big change; pedagogy is going to change too.

beambot··on Norway should buy OpenAI
> So why are ai companies shredding books

Because a cartoon mouse's parent company used regulatory capture to extend copyright for decades.

beambot··on Stripe to Buy OpenRouter for $7B
> And lets not even talk, the lack of compliance in an enterprise environment, and as they defer to providers on that...

A middleman that adds compliance & regulation while skimming a slice off the top for themselves: You just described credit cards - stripe's core business...

beambot··on How Claude marks AI-generated content
Not sure I understand your implication... because I'm the primary consumer of the content AI generates for me. I'd rather not have its output adulterated.
beambot··on How Claude marks AI-generated content
Yet another reason to support open-weight alternatives, I guess.
beambot··on Apple says more ex-employees may have taken confidential data to OpenAI
yes, which is why Apple got massively fined for doing it -- nowhere near enough to compensate all the depressed engineering salaries though.
beambot··on qm – Multiplayer agent harness for work
This is (probably) a natural evolution of Garry's gbrain, a basic RAG for individual use. Gbrain is super useful as a starting point for an individual; this seems like an extension to a company.

I've found gbrain to be very effective with meetily (instead of granola), vikunja for project planning, various mcp for email, etc. It's nice not being locked in to vendors and models...

Thanks for making this OSS too.

beambot··on $100 AI Music Video: Claude Fable 5 vs. GPT-5.6 Sol
> What makes art meaningful and impactful isn’t whether it looks good or cool.

I fall on the other side of that coin: I care about the final output way more than the story & struggle of the artist.

Also: Nature is probably the most epic artist in my book - a sunset, leaf, coral or rock can outshine virtually any human creation.
