bnajdecki··on Buf Studio: Interact with gRPC and Protobuf APIs Directly from the Browser
Hello @buf team, The product looks awesome! Are you going to add pre-defined example values to the endpoint? We have built a little similar product (Gendocu), and it was the most requested feature from our customers.

On mobile (iPhone 13), it is impossible to switch between body, header, etc. Now I can’t send any request from mobile.

bnajdecki··on Gitea – a painless self-hosted Git service
Using it for more than a year - It’s an awesome project. Can easily work on the cheapest DO VPS.
bnajdecki··on Connect: A Better gRPC
Is there any reason that this browser compatible protocol is just not a part of gRPC-Web? It would be much better to maintain community project than building new branded project.

How strongly connect relies on gRPC? Because it sounds like it’s easy to lock in to buf’s ecosystem.

bnajdecki··on USPS sued by states and environmental groups over purchase of 8.6 mpg trucks
You’re 100% right. I would like to see the reasoning behind this decision
bnajdecki··on Polish leader admits country bought powerful Israeli spyware
The saddest thing about it is that they still lead in all the polls. They won't rule after the next election as they can't get along with other political parties, but still have huge support. They polarize the community and that’s their way.
bnajdecki··on How the biggest consumer apps got their first 1k users
Me too!
bnajdecki··on Indiehackers now invite-only community
I rarely read it. It is more startup-oriented in a business way. I like to read some motivating success stories when I procrastinate too much ;)
bnajdecki··on Tesla's Full Self-Driving will have Level 5 autonomy by end of 2021
Can’t wait to see one on the street :) this won’t be possibly in 2021, but still worth waiting
bnajdecki··on Amazon’s New World is reportedly frying AMD and Nvidia cards
Interesting, I didn’t even know that Amazon make games
bnajdecki··on One of the biggest myths about EVs is busted in new study
You’re right - 18 years is a lot for a car. But we’re not so far - The average age is 12 for the USA, but the average lifespan is around 13-17 depending on the source. So we might be closer than you pointed out ;)
bnajdecki··on Ask HN: Do you still write REST APIs?
Recently, I've switched to gRPC Web. It works superbly. You have a single API definition, SDK for frontend and backend.

I have even written an article about it: https://blog.gendocu.com/posts/grpc-web-on-aws/

bnajdecki··on 319Tb/s Transmission over 3,001km with 4-core optical fiber
That's enormous speed. I can't even imagine it. I mean, the Total International Internet Bandwidth is 416Tb/s. That's only 1/3 more.
bnajdecki··on Is aging inevitable?
Thanks for pointing out that!

Here is the article about the COVID-19 and Bill Gates on the same page: https://joshmitteldorf.scienceblog.com/2021/05/10/unthinkabl...

bnajdecki··on The lie of expired food and the disastrous truth of Americas food waste problem
I agree - long, but definitely worth reading
bnajdecki··on MIT OpenCourseWare
Now, I know what I'll be doing during summer :D
bnajdecki··on Steve Wozniak backs right-to-repair movement
Haven't heard about them - good to know!
bnajdecki··on CMV: Tech monopolies should be banned as a class
You're right - I've meant they benefit much from the open-source technologies, and forcing them to support/use only open source technology wouldn't harm them much.

Even very rich tech companies struggle to compete with them. Supporting the open source isn't enough. Could you explain how you would "obstructing interoperation"?

bnajdecki··on CMV: Tech monopolies should be banned as a class
So which tech companies are monopolies? All of them have alternatives and competition.
bnajdecki··on Is your Google app crashing? You're not alone
That's sadly the cost of having a variety of platforms with many system variations.
bnajdecki··on CMV: Tech monopolies should be banned as a class
The open standards don't protect from the "Big Techs". See AWS and the open-source technologies that they use. "Tech monopolies" is the too broad category to create working solutions. Some monopolies use the network effect, like Facebook, Twitter, Uber, etc. They are protected not by closed technology but by the community. Building an app like Uber is much easier than making a company like Uber. The same applies to smaller companies/services like Reddit or even HackerNews.
bnajdecki··on Redis server side if-modified-since caching pattern using lua
Really well-explained article.
bnajdecki··on Server.casino – Random Servers Across the Internet
Scary - I get some strange URL that encouraged me to install some CSS plugin. How do you random those names? Are they only some random IPs? BTW. some history would be nice, as I couldn't find this server again :(
bnajdecki··on Show HN: Keepsake, curate and send meaningful letters with audio and video
Great idea! My girlfriend wished quite a time ago to get a "personalized website" for her birthday. Now I know what to sent her ;)
bnajdecki··on Show HN: Robust Canary Deployments in Minutes
Seems to be great! +1
bnajdecki··on Show HN: An API for running computationally intensive tools
Looks great. Do you have any real example with the cost estimation?
bnajdecki··on Show HN: Text instead of DM'ing your Twitter contacts
Great product! It seems to be similar to Blackberry Hub - it collected all kinds of messages, including SMS, email, FB, system notification in a single message stream. I miss that function on my iPhone. 1. How about the pricing of that solution? As you use the SMS, it can't be free. 2. Privacy is essential today - how do you store contacts and messages? 3. How can I select in what way I will send the message? I can't see it on the demo video. Adding the CORS headers to backend response doesn't resolve that issue? I have a similar setup without the 'security hack' - the only difference are the CORS headers
bnajdecki··on Show HN: A site to manage and track the value of your collectibles
Looks great. You've got my point. The chart of price looks great, but it's hard to understand. It would be nice to see the minimum price, maximum prices and the number of offers in given day. Url to highest/lowest would also be nice ;)
bnajdecki··on Show HN: A bootstrap landing page editor
Looks nice! You've got my point. Seems to be similar to Webflow. Are you going to make a clone or do you target something else?

The scale slidebar doesn't work - I don't see any difference between the different scales. It would be nice if it could auto-reload after the scale change. The blinkering after the refresh is kind of annoying.

bnajdecki··on Show HN: A platform for competitions in code optimizations
Seems to be great fun, but I can submit a solution - the submit button is not active. What should I do?

Moreover, are there any other ways of signing in? I have a lot of my private projects on Github and I wouldn't like to share it with any other site.

And the last tip: you may use the #include <bits/c++.h> in the snippets to make it shorter. It simply includes everything from std.

bnajdecki··on Show HN: NetflixLingo, my attempt at a passive language learning tool
Seems to be awesome - you've got my star. Could you write how to use it? I am not a python guy - the simple walkthrough would be great. And some meaningful example would also help - does it take the netflix subtitles or tries to transcript the sound?
