carleton··on uBlock Origin Lite for Safari Being Canceled
Creator of uBlock Origin Lite, gorhill:

"FInal decision, I am cancelling Safari build, more issues, see #402 (comment). Too bad."

carleton··on Make sports betting taboo again
You can continue thinking about winning, even without wasting the money on the ticket. I also fantasize from time to time about winning but I’ve never bought a ticket before.
carleton··on T-Mobile users thought they had a lifetime price lock–guess what happened next
Deprioritization is why - even 5G is unusable sometimes in busy places if you’re on an MVNO. I’d rather pay more for it to always work

Rather the opposite, I pay $20.99/month for unlimited for _just_ my iPad now on a different carrier because I don’t want to ever think about WiFi again when I’m not at home. Cellular is finally “good enough” that it’s better (faster/more reliable) than most hotel/public WiFi I’ve used in the past year.

First mirrorless for me was the Fujifilm X-T5. High resolution, great design, easy and fun to use. I find editing is rarely needed with the film simulations. I started with the 16-80 f4 and it really is an excellent all rounder but for wildlife the XF150-600 can’t be beat. Light and sharp!
carleton··on Samsung WB850F Firmware Reverse Engineering
Xapp works as well as I believe Apple lets them on iOS. You need to connect via the app, tap an iOS “Join WiFi” dialog, then 30-70% through the transfer it will stop and you need to tap again “This WiFi doesn’t have Internet, disconnect or continue?” and then it succeeds most of the time.

Don’t even get me started on Fujifilm refusing to support Geotagging unless the iOS app is in the foreground though. That is entirely Fuji’s fault and their design choice because apparently users complained that “it was tracking my location when the app is closed” uh duh that’s how geotagging works, turn off location if you don’t use it.

carleton··on Yuzu emulator developers settle Nintendo lawsuit, pay $2.4M in damages
I bet you thought you got him. My mans just learned that you can like a game without liking the company that makes the game
carleton··on YouTube addiction, one month sober
DeArrow is an extension by the SponsorBlock guy that does this.
carleton··on Insecure vehicles should be banned, not security tools like the Flipper Zero
2021 Honda here, OEM remote start system does not shut off the car if a door opens.
carleton··on Three million malware-infected smart toothbrushes used in Swiss DDoS attacks
These are all things that renters would not purchase. How many people actually try and use appliances at a rental property before signing?
carleton··on Cleaning up my 200GB iCloud with some JavaScript
That doesn't make sense to me. Apple says here that photos in a shared album do not count against your iCloud storage.

carleton··on Operation Triangulation: What you get when attack iPhones of researchers
I believe they’re assuming that malware can do a pretend reboot whereas the hardware keystroke can’t be faked.
carleton··on YouTube TV, which costs $73 a month, agrees to end "$600 less than cable" ads
This doesn’t have anything to do with YouTube TV. SponsorBlock and AdGuard have no effect on YTTV, only regular YouTube.
carleton··on Why I will never buy another Samsung device
Do you have a source on this?
carleton··on Remote Code Execution on Most Dell Computers
As another user said- "It's barely 5 megabytes.. and it's probably not connecting to anything.

The protections for pre-installed apps help to make sure nothing else tampers with them, e.g. injecting some malware, but I'm sure you can remove those protections and reclaim the 5 MB if you really wanted to."

carleton··on Skype is better, but still problematic
Correct, Wire is unrelated to Matrix/Riot. They were listing Wire as another option.
