chasingtheflow··on Apple discontinues the Mac Pro
Except by most all regards that product is great.
chasingtheflow··on macOS Sequoia is available today
Can’t say I’ve done this recently, but I think if I were doing this today I’d probably install it on the current machine and then boot into recovery mode and reinstall from there.

chasingtheflow··on Show HN: Retriever – Securely share secrets over the internet
But you have to have it installed. I could see this solution being useful for dealing with non-technical users.
chasingtheflow··on HAProxy is not affected by the HTTP/2 Rapid Reset Attack
Can’t seem to read it on mobile.
chasingtheflow··on Quiet – Encrypted P2P team chat with no servers, just Tor
Which site?
chasingtheflow··on Using: Has() as a CSS Parent Selector and much more
Blink is a fork of safari’s engine
chasingtheflow··on Astro 1.0 – a web framework for building fast, content-focused websites
You get the speed of SSR but can sprinkle interactivity into the app using the same SPA style frameworks via isolated “islands”.
chasingtheflow··on Deep-copying in JavaScript
It is for objects, just not for primitives.
chasingtheflow··on SpaceX’s Dragon capsule successfully returns from ISS resupply mission
NASA's focus has shifted more to deep space
chasingtheflow··on Google’s Environmental Report
Does the fact that they released this on WWDC day, a high traffic tech news day, suggest there may be something in here that they're hoping gets overlooked?
chasingtheflow··on Noiszy – A Chrome plugin that creates meaningless web tracking data
@stevespang they don't force you to. There's a button labeled "get the plugin" that takes you to the chrome plug in store. Then below that there's a for labelled "Connect" which allows you to subscribe to their mailing list.
chasingtheflow··on Noiszy – A Chrome plugin that creates meaningless web tracking data
I don't think it's about hiding from FBI inquiries but obscuring the value of data that ISPs, Google, Facebook, et al are collecting and selling without your consent.
chasingtheflow··on Show HN: An HTML/CSS/JS toggle switch with happy and sad emojis
Nice! Though it looks like in your version the blink is happening from top-to-bottom as opposed to collapsing in the middle. I like the blink after the toggle, but the actual blink animation in the original in preferable imo.
chasingtheflow··on Show HN: An HTML/CSS/JS toggle switch with happy and sad emojis
Really cool. Changing the timeScale value on JS line 33 to 1 slows everything down and makes the animation a little easier to see if you're interested in seeing how the effect works.
chasingtheflow··on Ask HN: What are your favorite thin websites (text only or limited images)?

chasingtheflow··on “Children of Men”'s vision of the future is now disturbingly familiar
But in Children of Men, England is the last country to keep functioning...
chasingtheflow··on Writing Less Code
Then you have to maintain two layouts in perpetuity.
chasingtheflow··on Pokemon Go isn't the solution to Nintendo's problems
If Pokemon Go succeeded in one thing it was validating the value of Nintendo's IP. People clearly want Nintendo products on iOS and Android and there's a much larger market for Nintendo outside their first-party devices.
chasingtheflow··on A Collection of CSS Tips
This was a good read. Reminded me of reading the trello css style guide https://gist.github.com/bobbygrace/9e961e8982f42eb91b80
chasingtheflow··on Germany is turning on its monster stellarator

chasingtheflow··on Apple Music Is a Usability Nightmare
"So I tried Apple Music for half a day and dismissed it out of hand" paraphrasing. Cool bro, glad you gave it chance. Glad you're making headlines.
chasingtheflow··on Deflation
This was also posted recently http://www.brookings.edu/blogs/ben-bernanke/posts/2015/03/30...
chasingtheflow··on Steve Ballmer steps down as board member at Microsoft
Reading this, "No company in the world has the mix of software skills, cloud skills, and hardware skills we have assembled", only got me thinking of this:

chasingtheflow··on The next version of DuckDuckGo
Personally, I'm okay with the contrast side of things. But I do prefer it when the main content of the page is centered as opposed to left-aligned.
chasingtheflow··on Comcast response to Netflix
Interesting how the legalese was longer than the response.
chasingtheflow··on Square Cash
I get that this is cool because it doesn't require an app or anything to work. But I just don't see this replacing venmo for me. Albeit venmo requires a bit of set up (so does this) and an app, but once that's in place sending money is quicker and easier and I don't have to remember to cc anyone. Thoughts?
chasingtheflow··on Poll: How many HN iOS users actually use Siri?
If you're parked in a street sweep area:

"Remind me to move my car on ___ at 2pm"

chasingtheflow··on Fish shell 2.0
fair.
chasingtheflow··on Fish shell 2.0
So you add one line to your config to replace colons with spaces? I'm not sure that's a legitimate reason to bail on trying it.
