clvx··on The Mythical Man-Month in the Age of AI
> Now one decision was just made with little thought.

I've seen the same behavior using AI. They just keep double it down without seeking human feedback nor asking themselves if there's prior art tackling the same problem. At the end, they don't only get into sunk cost fallacy but also go into a shadow IT journey achieving generational tech debt in a few weeks.

If you didn't allow yourself for a feedback loop venue and constructive feedback from peers, AI will not solve that issue.

clvx··on The Smart TV in Your LivingRoom Is a Node in the AIScraping Economy
I wish federal or state laws could force providing transparency because asking for privacy is a dead end at this point. Just force products and providers that run in my home where they phone in. Then, I can decide what to do with that whether I send them to a black hole or let them pass.
clvx··on The OpenAI Deployment Company
This sounds like forward engineering as a service
clvx··on An update on GitHub availability
With this prioritization Github IPv6 support is gonna happen the next decade.
clvx··on I Quit. The Clankers Won
There's a catch. Do not break customer trust. Many people are just tinkering with solving the problem but the indirect effects have not been tackled either by the tool, processes or just some human thinking.
clvx··on Ex-GitHub CEO launches a new developer platform for AI agents
This sounds like Spark with extra steps. If I’m not mistaken, some version of Spark had a feature to jump on different iterations of your prompts.
clvx··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
Same as you. This piece of shit needed to be gone. I've seen Venezuelans begging for food, money and shelter in geographic areas where you wouldn't even imagine due the exodus. I've seen South American communities orbiting xenophobia on Venezuelans because the lack of opportunities of immigrants where almost impossible in countries where there weren't any for many of the current residents.
clvx··on A 'small' vanilla Kubernetes install on NixOS
resetting k3s in NixOS is not that straightforward and requires manual input. It cannot be fully automated as removing the statement from your config afaik unless this has changed recently.
clvx··on Steam Machine
Valve, please partner with Framework. I think this could be a great partnership in the future and the whole ecosystem as a whole.
clvx··on Schleswig-Holstein completes migration to open source email
It used to piss me off now I despise it.

Another massive problem is if Meta has a fit with your organization, they can ban you from using WhatsApp for Business. All these Latam countries should and must pass regulations to avoid this kind of behavior. Free market all you want but if you captured market, it’s the nation’s responsibility to ensure their people can get the best service even if these companies are hating each other.

clvx··on American Prairie unlocks another 70k acres in Montana
I wish Flying D could do the same or part of it. They let people in at Spanish Creek but there’s so much land and forest roads to explore.
clvx··on Qwen3-Next
For early adopters yes but many systems have been running as good enough without any kind of updates for a long time. For many use cases it needs to get to a point where accuracy is good enough and then it will be set and forget. I disagree with the approach but that's what you find in the wild.
clvx··on Serverless Horrors
Yes, that’s exactly the expected behavior. It can alert if it’s closed to threshold. Very straightforward from my point of view.
clvx··on The web does not need gatekeepers: Cloudflare’s new “signed agents” pitch
You can lock it up with a user account and payment system. The fact the site is up on the internet doesn’t mean you can or cannot profit from it. It’s up to you. What I would like it’s a way to notify my isp and say, block this traffic to my site.
clvx··on Nginx introduces native support for ACME protocol
But you have to have your dns api key loaded and many dns providers don’t allow api keys per zone. I do like it but a compromise could be awful.
clvx··on Show HN: Companies use AI to take your calls. I built AI to make them for you
I just need one that can repeatedly say “I want talk to a representative” and when a representative answers “I would like to escalate to your manager”. After that a human on the loop is needed.
clvx··on The vibe coder's career path is doomed
who says it's about lowering the bar. If someone can build a more concrete view of their ideas which in most cases are requirements, then the conversation can be about nuances and not trying to figure it out what this person wants. I would say, It makes the conversation of the software development process easier because now you can discuss exactly why or why not it cannot be possible or the challenges you'll have to implement it.
clvx··on The vibe coder's career path is doomed
> “Soon, everyone will be a developer”

This is the wrong view. It's more like "Soon, everyone will be able to go from idea to a prototype". IMO, there's a different value perception when people can use concrete things even if they are not perfect. This is what I like about end-to-end vibe coding tools. I don't see a non developer using Claude Code but I can totally see them using Github Spark or any similar tool. After that, the question is how can I ensure this person can keep moving forward with the idea.

clvx··on Ask HN: What's Your Useful Local LLM Stack?
In a related subject, what’s the best hardware to run local LLM’s for this use case? Assuming a budget of no more of $2.5K.

And, is there an open source implementation of an agentic workflow (search tools and others) to use it with local LLM’s?

clvx··on Drones Are Key to Winning Wars Now. The U.S. Makes Hardly Any
Probably trained for a specific location and targets but if you see how fast people adapt in the war of drones, I feel drones would need constant updates which might not be possible in certain frontlines. A tank at the beginning of the Ukraine invasion doesn’t look not even close to what they look now with all the anti drone add ons.
clvx··on Drones Are Key to Winning Wars Now. The U.S. Makes Hardly Any
I’m not implying that but it was one of the first places where they used it extensively.
clvx··on Drones Are Key to Winning Wars Now. The U.S. Makes Hardly Any
Unless autonomous drones happen, Russia has proved fiber drones are the way to go. Not saying jammers wouldn’t be needed, but Russia had a lot of success using fiber drones to retake Kursk.
clvx··on Incus – Next-generation system container, application container, and VM manager
Who also developed LXD and contributed to LXC. I wouldn’t say it’s just a fork but a continuation of the project without Canonical.
clvx··on At Amazon's biggest data center, everything is supersized for AI
The problem is not the amount of land but if that land is economically viable. Farm already has low margins.so, if you grab a good location to build a data center and push the farm land even further away from population centers, then you are pretty much killing family farms.
clvx··on Ask HN: People who work different timezones than your company. How sched?
I worked with teams located in Israel, Ukraine, Poland, UK and Easter, Central and West US while based on Mountain Time.

Long story short, really weird times. Even though most of the communications were async, I still started really early and then called it at midday because I didn´t have more battery on me. I followed up on things by mobile chat in the afternoon but I was already checked out mentally by 2pm. Sometimes when I felt rested enough I gave it a little more in the nights and coordinated with early birds from Europe before I hit the bed.

This went on for over 2 years easily. I gotta say I completely burned out and it took me a long time to recover.

For the ones asking why?. The business outsourced some services overseas which became part of the critical path.

clvx··on Colombia seizes first unmanned narco-submarine with Starlink antenna
60 years actually but for the recent criminality you need to look to Venezuela’s attempt of revolution in the late 10’s which generated the expansion of the Tren de Aragua which evolved extortion from random events to an enterprise level kind of thing.
clvx··on Colombia seizes first unmanned narco-submarine with Starlink antenna
They already extortion every single producer. Any coffee and avocado coming from South America has an extortion tax somewhere in the supply chain whether it’s to the farmers, shipping companies, distribution center warehouses at port or whatever you imagine. The extortion comes as placing gang members as part of security, real threats or just bribes to unlock to keep moving towards the consumer.

Illegal goods have better margins but extortions provide a platform for power and money with less effort.

clvx··on Is Lovable getting monetization wrong?
I don't think the idea sticks with me. The final products of these services are never reliable.

Right now, except for some hyperscalers, any similar service has integrated their deployments to some hyperscaler which means any day 2 operations will happen in someone else's computer (supabase, azure/aws, etc). On top of that, you have third party services that you need to integrate and manage their pricing plus auth. That alone is another challenge. Let's not even start with stateful data and migrations which is almost non existent.

The main problem is these tools don't tackle day 2 operations so it will be handled to some developer to make it happen which means exporting your code to some VCS service which I think it's only github. Right there, it's a threat for lovable and others. On top of that, there's not a real feedback loop between manual integration (external dev making it prod ready) and keeping the MVP workflow. Also, there's no real way these services can say "you are free to touch these components without breaking incompatibility with our system, anything else here be dragons".

In other words, You need to own the ecosystem to make more money. Funnel the capabilities to your own ecosystem.

clvx··on ChatGPT's enterprise success against Copilot fuels OpenAI/Microsoft rivalry
Whoever decided to use the same brand for different experiences should be demoted at minimum. What a way to destroy trust.
clvx··on A federal judge sides with Anthropic in lawsuit over training AI on books
Wouldn’t the issue be executing the models to third parties without filters? No idea if this is right but the same it would apply to Anthropic that they couldn’t run the model without the filter system having a chicken an egg problem. Can’t develop the filter without looking into the model.
