conradfr··on macOS 27 does not support CoreStorage volumes
Ah yes 2025, the ancient times.
conradfr··on The AI cost of JavaScript frameworks
Well personally I would not gloat about my genius non-framework code if it had files with "thousands of lines".

How many colleagues have worked with your codebase?
conradfr··on Ask HN: Does anybody also miss the status for the 5h-limit in Claude?
Max+ plans now have the 5h limit lifted for "verified accounts" apparently.
conradfr··on France is getting download tax for content providers (€0.055/GB)
In France they don't exist.
conradfr··on PHP 8.2.35
Is Pie (which I learned about it today) a painless migration from PECL?
conradfr··on PHP 8.2.35
Yeah I got repeated error for igbinary (and then find out I didn't use redis in this project and could remove it).
conradfr··on PHP 8.2.35
Hard to deploy if you also install extensions from PECL right now (probably slammed).
conradfr··on It's still ok to enjoy programming

conradfr··on Margaret Hamilton has died
Although he left before Apollo 11 so he can't be responsible for all her advancement.
conradfr··on Mistral Large 4
But it would be "Le Fat Chaton".

conradfr··on Claude Code’s suggested message feature: I think the real customer is the model
I noticed Claude seems more assertive in its code change lately, it's sometimes good, sometimes annoying.

Just when they finally toned down the obnoxious verbosity...

conradfr··on JetBrains reported a net financial loss first time in its tracked history
I'll admit I'm currently not up to speed on having multiple features worked at the same time, with git worktrees etc.
conradfr··on JetBrains reports revenue growth, net financial loss for 2025
A bit tongue-in-cheek but I'm amazed by people that don't open an IDE or look at code. Are you paid to press enter at anything that Claude present to you?

Personally I usually use Claude inside the Jetbrain's IDE terminal, even if I code by hand obviously less. I still like using the diff, navigation, quick access to any file path for my prompt etc but maybe that won't last.

(edit: although I currently use an old perpetual fallback license because I didn't like the last price increase especially as they slowly remove what I like in the UI)

conradfr··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
> Okay so which specific cultural religious and ethnic backgrounds are causing trouble and what empirical evidence do you have of this happening on a large scale?

Feigning to not know, is knowing.

conradfr··on Uproar in France over award-winning author accused of using AI
For the few pages I saw on X it's actually tiresome to read.

Lots of short sentences. Lots of weird metaphors. Many infamous "it's not x, it's y".

conradfr··on Uproar in France over award-winning author accused of using AI
Well, he has been evicted from the Goncourt.
conradfr··on XCancel service is suspended until further notice
No Twitter was also sometimes walled off. Elon Musk actually opened it back at the start.

Instagram is also hard to browse without an account.

It's all so annoying.

conradfr··on Why is Google still serving dodgy ads?
I have a website with some adsense ads (that pay for the server).

I try blocking the most obvious scams by blocking the announcers but it's basically impossible because the same dodgy ones keep coming back with a new name.

Also hard because they're not always in a language you understand.

I don't think I should do all this work instead of the biggest ad company in the world just to earn 5€ per day, but I'm also not aware of any better alternative.

conradfr··on Shopify is moving from React Native back to Swift and Kotlin
And it was a fork.
conradfr··on Muse – Meta’s personal AI agent
It feels like Alexa / Google Home all over again.
conradfr··on Asahi Linux on M3
They had a revenue of $416 billion in 2025.

That would be like you buying something at the dollar store.

conradfr··on Nitter has more working instances than before the takedowns
Soulseek is working fine.

But to be honest I never found TPB (or rarbg etc.) really useful for music.

conradfr··on Gmail to end support for "Send as" for third-party addresses, such as @yahoo.com
You can have a google account using a not-gmail email.
conradfr··on GPT-6 Astra
That's not far off the ads for smartphones with things that I never see people doing in real life.

Currently there's a Google Pixel ad where a grandma takes a photo of a board and Gemini automatically fills her calendar with all the events. Yeah sure.
