dieselgate··on Lemmings CSS Animation
This is awesome thanks for sharing
dieselgate··on Ask HN: What workspace/productivity tools do you use and why?
My favorite workspace and productivity tool is an over-the-ear construction earmuff so I can eliminate environmental noise in an open-office.
dieselgate··on Ask HN: How are you making sites/APIs agent-ready?
Respectfully, does that mean you don’t want agents to utilize the site? Is there a difference between the “noAi” header?
dieselgate··on Show HN: Aggregate Finance, your financial data in a spreadsheet you own
Thanks for sharing, looks polished on mobile. Is it “agent-ready” in any capacity?
dieselgate··on Basically no one is using AI agents for their DoorDash orders
Recently laid off and not a big AI guy… but to illustrate your points:

Tailoring + proofing resumes to _manually_ apply to jobs is a great application of LLMs in my experience. But I wouldn’t want an AI to apply for jobs for me.

dieselgate··on Binance hackers used fake job interview to breach PC before $6.3B attack
> On the one hand -- it's obviously a bad idea to use your current employer's laptop for a job interview.

Maybe they were quiet quitting..

dieselgate··on Getting hit with "Prove you are a human" at every other website
I get the fatigue too but feel if cloudflare is effective then the benefits outweigh the concerns. Bots will spam everything so hard
dieselgate··on Startup Advice at Major Events Is Shit
There’s some good chunks here, Lean Startup could be talked about more maybe.
dieselgate··on US boy names that became girl names and vice versa
Interesting how spelling may come into play e.g. Lee vs Leigh
dieselgate··on AI is destroying my CS degree
Basically true for all degrees. I studied non-cs engineering before getting into coding and feel it often. At times have felt “should have stuck more with mech e where jobs are more stable and the tech moves slower” but know it’s kind of a fallacy.
dieselgate··on Ask HN: Why is it so hard to promote/market even when the product seems right
I'm not sure the limiting factor is "hard to promote". Are people knocking on every door in a 5 minute walking radius of their house--for example. It totally depends on the product, if it's niche or a better-mousetrap
dieselgate··on Casio Watches of the 1980s
Agreed, usually only take mine off when sleeping or showering. it just gets in the way
dieselgate··on Casio Watches of the 1980s
Just looked down at my casio and laughed because it says both "WATER RESIST" and "WR".

I frankly just wish it had a backlight.

dieselgate··on When electric cars were for women
I agree but am curious what difference being on a bridge makes…
dieselgate··on The oldest ice disappears and the Stone Age emerges from it
Me too but presumably they’re not really that unique as there are hundreds? Or maybe the stone/hard artifacts are handled different than organic/soft.
dieselgate··on Trump Phone Durability Test – Its worse than we thought (JerryRigEverything) [video]
Great video, it’s cynical and a reminder to vote.
dieselgate··on Solar power is becoming bigger than nuclear
Aren’t lead acid batteries great for this purpose? They have advantage over lithium in stationary setups because weight is not an issue and they can be “daisy chained” many many times. I’m unaware of more cutting edge alternatives and the way the electrical companies handle solar is confusing IME
dieselgate··on Active incident at Dreamhost forcing password reset
Porkbun has been fine, used dreamhost for years prior
dieselgate··on The St. Helena 5 pence coin shows Jonathan, a roughly 190 year old tortoise
In my experience no, they’re mostly all pastured.
dieselgate··on The St. Helena 5 pence coin shows Jonathan, a roughly 190 year old tortoise
I raised market-sheep when I was younger and during breeding the ram wears a harness with colored chalk on the underside. You then have visual cues for which ewes are likely to become pregnant.
dieselgate··on Way to Play Super Mario 64: On Apple Vision Pro
Never played super Mario 64 but wondering if folks would recommend it? Between that and paper Mario is there a better “first” one to play? My only console is an n64 and am playing through golden eye right now.

The article is cool to have the “first 3D game” being played in VR.

dieselgate··on The math that OpenAI keeps for itself
Thinking about giving “us” a better future makes me wonder how many people alive don’t even have access to clean water or electricity.
dieselgate··on Ask HN: Many SWEngs out there are considering re-training
I have a non-CS engineering degree and am working towards taking the EIT exam. It’s not much and is entry level but steps towards other engineering work outside tech.
dieselgate··on Ask HN: Are you hesitant to install vibe-coded apps?
How is the feature parity?
dieselgate··on Delta’s Biscoff cookies were supposed to be temporary
Cross-contamination risk via surfaces and touch might still remain in such tight spaces. Thanks for the articles about olfactory risks!
dieselgate··on Delta’s Biscoff cookies were supposed to be temporary
Are there allergy concerns with nuts?
dieselgate··on I designed a nose guard for my dog and gave it away. Now 500 dogs wear one
We rarely use a muzzle for our shepherd but the ironic part is people keep extra distance because it looks so menacing.
dieselgate··on I designed a nose guard for my dog and gave it away. Now 500 dogs wear one
My dog has a very smelly nose!
dieselgate··on Why is every rationalist blog post way too long?
Not studies: Somewhat famously Jessica Simpson got accidentally addicted to nicorette[1]. I heard it as a question in NPR “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me” (radio-quiz game show) and it ended up being true.

I’ve known many people who used chewing tobacco and were not smokers.

dieselgate··on Why is every rationalist blog post way too long?
“Just nicotine”/nicotine salts can elevate blood pressure and heart rate which can be very dangerous for some people and long-term bad if not resolved. But by far tobacco smoking is the most physically dangerous which is obviously not the same as “just nicotine”.
