direwolf20··on Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen
The first part seems doable but how do you make it recreate that network in other models?
direwolf20··on Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen
Weight Space Programming will be an amazing discovery when they learn that instead of telling an LLM what to do in English, you can create a much smaller LLM that is tuned to your specific task. Maybe it'll even turn out that the input and output can be directly connected to the problem task and don't need to be in English!

Transfer learning is a thing but it's not done by passing one model's weights as decimal numbers through another model.

direwolf20··on UK Green party drops longstanding opposition to nuclear power
The Russia/Ukraine war started because Russia invaded Ukraine.

Ukraine said that Russia invaded Ukraine. Russia said that Russia invaded Ukraine. And Russia has a long history of invading its neighbors - that's why it's already so big. We have no reason to doubt that Russia invaded Ukraine.

There's not much point to it, you achieve incremental damage because they're so spread out.

Yeah, if you actually want to share the article, just copy/paste its content, under a throwaway if you have to.

Headline response: it objectively does, as you can easily see if you run any website.
direwolf20··on My favourite PowerMac is a Nintendo Wii
The Wii was the first era where game discs came with console firmware updates that were silently installed and could lock you out owning your device.

direwolf20··on Apple's git still trusts the compromised eMudhra certificates
The Debian maintained patched by "fixing" two very similar looking "bugs" on different but identical lines of code:

One that mixed uninitialised data to the entropy pool.

And another one that mixed initialised data to the entropy pool with the exact same function call. Which was, in fact, almost all of the entropy.

direwolf20··on Apple's git still trusts the compromised eMudhra certificates
How should Sectigo have detected the badness?
direwolf20··on Apple's git still trusts the compromised eMudhra certificates
Lots of software does. It's been great for MITMing your own devices to find out what they're doing. It doesn't defeat cert pinning though.

direwolf20··on Canary Tokens
No I mean ones that are actually connected to Visa's network and you get an API call from Visa when someone uses them.
direwolf20··on Canary Tokens
They make credit cards. Obviously they're not real cards but what sort of financial wizardry is required to make that possible? And given it's vibecoded that means Claude knows how to make fake credit cards now?
