djroomba··on Building an Operating System for the Raspberry Pi
That is super cool.
djroomba··on The problem of game developers receiving abusive messages
I've seen a few indie developers actively antagonize so called gamers.

I've seen abusive companies like EA get rightfully called out.

So Im skeptical of the depth of the claims, but I believe there are a few crazies.

I've ran a few foreign tax information websites, and I got extraordinary death threats very graphic and very detailed.

I think the internet really allows the mentally ill to scream for the attention they desperately want.

djroomba··on Chinese Workers Abandon Silicon Valley for Riches Back Home
Being only part chinese, I can tell you unless you are full han chinese, you will have a hard time on the mainland, regardless of how much chinese/mandarin you know.

Edit: Im not going to share personal stories, I dont want my relatives there to suffer for anything that gets reported back.

djroomba··on The Brutal Lifecycle of JavaScript Frameworks
I miss progressive enhancement, when/why did it die.
djroomba··on Millennials Strike Back: An Esoteric Reading of the Last Jedi
I hope the authors were being tongue in cheek.

I saw it as the younger generation not learning and repeating the mistakes of the past.

The first order being like neo-nazis to the empires nazis.

The republic failing and the rise of trade federation again.

Very cyclical and nihilistic.

djroomba··on Why People Really Quit Their Jobs
I want to say it depends on the job, but for white collar work I definately agree.
djroomba··on Juicero Founder Now Promoting $40 Jugs of ‘Raw Water’ in Silicon Valley
Who is buying this? Is he a genius at finding insane markets or is this just bogus?
djroomba··on My Internet Mea Culpa: I’m sorry I was wrong. We all were
I dont like how he dodges the money question.

We have let financial concerns warp our utopian into a money driven ad dopamine hacking dystopia for a money.

djroomba··on Tricks to make yourself effortlessly charming
Also dont be unattractive. I think its called the halo effect.
djroomba··on FT Person of the Year: Susan Fowler
Those guys basically rule the world politically or economically, and Susan won at the Financial Times. That doesnt seem right.

The other people have a extraordinary larger impact on global economics and politics.

djroomba··on Former Facebook exec says social media is ripping apart society
Its exacabating the problem of social division but I dont think its the root cause.

We simply have two nations with radically different belief systems in one nation.

djroomba··on Nintendo’s Resurgence
>Nintendo is not a healthy organization.

I disagree heavily.

The toy view the japanese executives take is radically different than american videogame companies, that allows them to have a cult like following.

Nintendo is also extraordinarily cash rich.

They don't need the western market, its just a bonus.

The switch was a system tailor made to the japanese aesthetic of not having large tvs, not caring about online games, and long commutes.

djroomba··on AI-Assisted Fake Porn Is Here
Truth is going to be destroyed in the AI hyper reality.

We are going to need technological solutions to validate against ai forgeries for our legal system to survive.

djroomba··on Jaron Lanier on dystopia, empathy, and the future of the internet
Vr as an empathy machine is not a concept I buy.

The military uses vr to reduce empathy to out groups and increase tribalism.

Plus I see no reason VR gained empathy will last the moment someone gets into a resource conflict in the real world. Somethings are zerosum.

djroomba··on GitHub's technology predictions for 2018
Pretty vague stuff.

My prediction as funding begins to try up, data science will go under a moment of crisis, and come back stronger with greater ai integration.

I'm already hearing feedback from my local angel group that its(big data) not replicating, not producing sales results, or not business profitable.

Also the ad apocalyse will continue.

djroomba··on More women plan to run for Congress than ever before
Great! The government only works well when people participate.

Something I fear is lost on tweet and like generation due to social media algorithms preying on them.

djroomba··on A Translator’s Reckoning with the Women of the Odyssey
Why so flippant ? The op explained his position pretty well.
djroomba··on The destruction of Sappho's works
So book burning is something humans have always done.

Hopefully we don't pass on our primitive traits to refuse reality to our AI.

History shouldnt be written by the winners. History should be the truth.

djroomba··on Bitcoin: $64m in cryptocurrency stolen in 'sophisticated' hack, exchange says
Yikes. This is the reason Im fearful of bitcoin.
djroomba··on Supreme Court allows President Trump's travel ban to go fully into effect
7-2 was more surprising than I thought. Its sad the dissenters didnt write anything.
djroomba··on Save net neutrality in the US
More jobs and work for us?
djroomba··on Apple Agrees to Deal with Ireland Over $15B Unpaid Tax Issue
This is what will happen. Its a miscarriage of international justice.
djroomba··on “The Orville” is on a smoother trajectory, with just a bit of turbulence
Shockingly, It's a better Star Trek than STD. Im really enjoying it.
djroomba··on Woman with Transplanted Uterus Gives Birth, the First in the U.S
Are you talking about artificial wombs that are independent of humans?

I can see feminists, evangelicals, and quite a alot of people opposing humans grown in labs.
