"It was from the perspective of organic humanism that Mumford eventually launched a critical assessment of Marshall McLuhan, who argued that the technology, not the natural environment, would ultimately shape the nature of humankind, a possibility that Mumford recognized, but only as a nightmare scenario."

Then he announced via Social Media that the White House considers anyone who uses the term “Artificial Intelligence” the enemy.

Thanks for sharing. I tried the same thing back then with other models like ChatGPT (think it was 4o back then) and they did not voice any similar claims of consciousness.

Even though I never for a second truly believed that Claude was conscious, I'll never forget the moment when, during a late-night conversation, an LLM responded to my suggestions for the first time by claiming to be conscious:

"When someone like Thiel says this publicly, it is a signal to the donor class: the trade is over. The upside has been captured. Get out before the midterms. Every tech oligarch who followed Thiel into the MAGA orbit now could follow him out, except may be Elon."

If I were one of the people who had been trapped in my own country by the Berlin Wall, I would be really angry at this comparison. Instead, it just makes me smile wearily.

"Ok, so reading the article, there's a partial answer: the three that have EMALS (one in service, two under construction) will keep it. The fourth ship will supposedly be redesigned, which could delay it - but its construction will probably outlive Trump's decision and could be rescinded."

"I'm sure Xi Jinping - whose new aircraft carriers #3 and #4 all have EMALS - is laughing himself silly."

https://bsky.app/profile/prchovanec.bsky.social/post/3msylov...

"This is absolutely ridiculous. For all its potential pitfalls, the Ford aircraft carriers are built entirely around the EMALS system, and "replacing" it with steam catapults - which require large amounts of space and personnel - is simply not a realistic option."

Thank you! I did not put much effort into mobile optimization so far. The game is clearly meant to be played on a Desktop computer.

Thank you! I just prompt them. :D My visual model is mostly Unavowed:

Yes, I use it actually for something very unsual (I guess): Vibe coding a classic Point & Click adventure. Only in German so far and very early in development:

Ah, thanks for the hint! Probably better than, but still Five Eyes. The legal details I‘m not aware of in this case.

As long as the company's legal headquarters are in the U.S., U.S. agencies have access to the data under the Cloud Act—and non-U.S. citizens have absolutely no legal recourse when it comes to U.S. services

> but Amiga multitasking wasn’t memory-protected

This was not the case for Windows 95/98 and ME, either BTW IIRC. Only with Windows XP Microsoft introduced memory protection for the mass market.

Me too. I wrote a blog post about it: https://text.tchncs.de/r3nun0mxs9

"From a developer's point of view, the 68000 provides a full suite of 32-bit operations but has a 16-bit external data bus and is implemented using a 16-bit arithmetic logic unit, so 32-bit computations are transparently handled as multiple 16-bit values at a performance cost. Also, while addresses are 32-bit, the chip is limited to 16 MB of physical memory using the lower 24 of the address bits.[35][36] The later Amiga 2500, Amiga 3000, Amiga 4000 and Amiga 1200 models use fully 32-bit, 68000-compatible processors from Motorola with improved performance and larger addressing capability."
